Ps the shoes were not the sensible purchase - navy would have been much better. But how could I buy boring bavy when these gorgeous yellow ones were winking at me?

It’s just starting to tip it down, shame.

ememem84 · 03/08/2018 12:55

sea yeah. Very dangerous profession. He went from that to being a fireman. He used to do the occasional trip when he was on annual leave.

He still holds shares in the business, so him and mum get free fish and shareholder dividend every quarter.

£11.57 in the yum Italian deli. Bresceola, pastrami, ham and roast beef, a ciabatta, some tomatoes and rocket.

ChristmasSeacow · 03/08/2018 12:58

That’s interesting, as I was writing about not relaxing when they’re away I was also thinking the fire brigade must be similar!

DD is kicking off now 🙄 Kids and queuing grrr 🙄

ememem84 · 03/08/2018 13:28

Oh and sea love those shoes. And your trousers. Fab! I’d absolutely wear the shoes too.

I’m after a pair of that shade of yellow pointed flats. #specific

Will never find them....

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/08/2018 13:43

cag there's a film on film 4 called castle of caglistro! ! Made me think of you 😁

We have cycled to my mums to do some watering as she is away, went via morrisons and had lunch £9 it was a tad disappointing tbh (should have gone to subway!!)

Also treated ourselves to the greatest showman cd! ! Can't remember the last time I bought a cd and this one will be well played. £10.

Was hoping to do some blackberrying on the bike ride but not many ripe yet.

Cagliostro · 03/08/2018 13:53

Tis indeed where my name comes from :o one of my favourite anime films :)

Cagliostro · 03/08/2018 14:08

Ugh I'm really struggling to get motivated! Too hot. Not much sleep. DH was getting a store in brighton ready for Pride until the small hours. He does get extra pay and we are both now sporting rainbow t-shirts :o but he's worn out too. He's mowed the lawn for the first time as well.

Really need to get my butt in gear and decide what other furniture we need and what internet provider to go with. Not having wifi is getting to me

Bornlazy · 03/08/2018 14:21

Went to the Marks and Spencer sale today as it is now 90% off and bought a load of crap bargains. Everyone seems to be having babies in my work, it is seriously never ending, so will use some of it for presents.

WreckTangled · 03/08/2018 14:31

Cag we have nhs rainbow lanyards in support of pride!

Wolfcub · 03/08/2018 14:41

Holiday ironing done all two hours of it.

Ds was horrible out at breakfast- H has called him and spoken to him so I’m hoping for a lull in the storm.

Been and done a long stint of deadheading, chopping back and watering in the garden and have ordered a couple more bits needed for high school. I think I just have shoes, trousers, trainers, and shin pads to buy and then full club rugby stuff including studs and gum shield which can do double duty at school too

NoNarnas · 03/08/2018 15:55

Ok, yes do try and buy oil while its cheap. Is your loft insulated with 270mm of insulation? all draughts sealed up, thick curtains shut at sunset? I lived rurally for a while and it does help.

Can you get any of your insurances cheaper and cancel any non essential services like spotify premium?.

Do you pay the council tax over 12 months or 10? we pay over 12 as its about £30 less to find each month, I'm no better off but it's less to find each month.

Could you save money on food? meal plan and stop all branded food. Shop at aldi?

I’ve just redone house insurance, loft is insulated, we always shop in Aldi and no-where else. Council tax is over 10 so that’s a good idea to stretch it over 12 thank you.

Ouch Girlie, poor dd. Ds reacts badly to wasp stings, hope she feels better soon.

NoNarnas my mortgage is going up as well but I don’t know how much by yet. How did you calculate your monthly increase?

WreckTangled · 03/08/2018 16:54

LSD £5 on two books from work. Cheaper than amazon with my discount. I got dd a colouring stained glass window book and ds a first writing book as he needs to practise his hand writing. Plus £2.20 parking.

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/08/2018 17:02

Sunny
You know what Im going to say .
If you have trouble breathing you should really get medical attention .
Its not classic flu stuff to have difficulty breathing.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 03/08/2018 17:15

Hi Bandit, yeah I know what you mean. Smile

I do know what's going on there though. I have chronic hyperventilation syndrome and it always flares up during flu-type viruses. It was particularly bad this time but there were several compounding factors, all of which I understand. The heatwave was a big part of it, as well as stress from two of my best friends abruptly keeling over recently.

However, I have a referral to the expert at Papworth for the end of August and there's nothing a GP could do, other than make that referral, which is done. So I just need to bide my time and get better enough to actually attend the appointment.

The good news is that the virus is calming down now and my breathing is getting better. I need to keep still and be sensible to make sure it really goes away this time though. I don't want a third go of this one. It was rubbish.

Thanks for encouraging me to take care of myself. I'm a bit of a constitutional martyr and it really helps to have someone remind me to look after myself as well as everybody else. Smile

Hopefully that will move an extra £30 or so over but you seem to have frugality sorted anyway.

Can you talk to the bank about switching mortgages? they must be having a lot of people wanting to ditch trackers now.

NoNarnas · 03/08/2018 18:12

We will look at the options but we have quite a high mortgage with not a lot of equity so the fixed rates offered to us weren’t great. (£240k owed on £280k property). We currently have a discounted tracker but will look at other options.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/08/2018 18:28

Is the £280K a recent valuation?

London & County always get a mention on money saving expert as being excellent brokers.

I suppose you would have a penalty to pay though if you left your current lender.

Cag When you paint using that durable paint do not use masking tape, it pulls it of in sheets. I'm taking mine back for a refund as it's meant to be grey and it's dried blue. I did not want blue. Grrr.

NoNarnas · 03/08/2018 18:31

We have only lived here 3 years so it’s dairly recent. Could always get another one done though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/08/2018 18:47

Our area went up a lot in the first few years, I am always surprised how much people are selling for round here.

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/08/2018 18:56

Thats good Sunny
