Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Sorry for the double post silly phone!!

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 21:00

I'm having a lovely time sitting here doing ds's dinosour colouring book. Turns out that having granny with a loose sense of ds's developmental age is a good thing.

Can I join please? Todays interest rate has just added £80 a month to our mortgage so need to cut back elsewhere!

Flappyjack · 02/08/2018 21:04

Oh no No that is a lot. Have you decided which way to cut back yet?

ScandiLady · 02/08/2018 21:05

nocut she wishes a doctor uniform, police uniform and a tool belt Hmm

CurlsandCurves · 02/08/2018 21:06

Booked the seats on our flights today, £69.

£6 for DS2 to go to an activity club at the local leisure centre. He was there 9-1 and they do loads.

£5.05 on 2 ice creams and a bottle of pop following another afternoon at the park. We have a Facebook messenger group of loads of parents in Ds2s year and we all agreed if anyone has a bored kid, or is heading out to a local park, we shout up as there’s bound to be someone else in the same situation so we can meet up.

DS2 looks absolutely shattered after all this activity, but insists he isn’t...

ememem84 · 02/08/2018 21:08

no oh jeeez that’s a lot!!

nobuts I have this and want to get some more birds added to the flock.

I haven’t actually checked how the interest rate hike will affect us. We are on a variable rate at present - but hopefully this months will be the last payment of this mortgage before we sell. We flipped onto a variable rate In April I think after our fixed term ended.

Of course you are welcome. Are you in contract with your broadband, energy suppliers and mobile phone contracts?.

QuiteCleanBandit · 02/08/2018 21:18

I want to smack the EWFL dads head off a wall Hmm

Cagliostro · 02/08/2018 21:28

Our aerial is shit so we can't watch EWFL. The Caglets actually are disappointed, they're hooked already! But in the attic DH found three splitters joined together and they'd drilled through the ceiling to split the Sky TV it seems!

NoNarnas · 02/08/2018 21:43

Fluffycloudland77

Broadband not in contract- however we are in a rural location with a waiting list for a space in the exchange for fibre. We currently have a connection but if we change providers we lose our slot and go on the 18 month long waiting list! We tried to change it last year and they have us stuck!

Electric was changed a few months back, no gas here. Oil was changed to a better payment plan and we are going to do an order over the summer while prices are lower.

WreckTangled · 02/08/2018 22:18

£5 ice cream. Mama Mia 2 is so cheesy I loved it Grin

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 22:25

Nice :) have you ever tried logic puzzles like hanjie? You may like them. There are books of them in whsmiths puzzle mag section. Or a magazine called Beyond Sudoku has a selection of different puzzle types. Tis my fave. #proudnerd

I accidentallyonpurpose bid on a game today. Not even the one I wanted to buy. Oops.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 02/08/2018 22:59

I can't do puzzles Cag. I don't have that part of the brain #SecretIdiot

Never seen any of this ewfl. Must try and catch up

ememem84 · 03/08/2018 06:52

Morning all. Friday!! Hooray!!!

Work today. And then antipasti for dinner. As a treat I’m going to the Italian deli in the market and am buying cold meats etc. I am mega excited. I love the deli. They do the best hot pasta on a lunchtime. It is ace.
But. No hot pasta lunch for me (it’s about £4.50 per portion) as have lunch to take in. They also do takeaway roast dinners.... mmm.

So because of my trip to the lovely deli I’ll probqbly spend eleventy million pounds.....

ChristmasSeacow · 03/08/2018 07:05

Thanks so much for the Northumberland advice, and sorry I didn’t get to reply yesterday. It was a manic day - we went to Inverness for lunch and a wander round (lovely riverside views) and the rest of the time we were packing up the house, loading the car as much as possible etc. Packed lunches all made and car mostly packed, we need to be away by 8am for the ferry . The rate-limiting step now is getting DS fed and dressed, he refuses to be rushed Hmm. Peeing down here this morning.

Lunch was about £20 yesterday (toasties all round) and DH and I had (unexpectedly excellent) fish and chips for dinner, £14. We also bought dd her first pair of (yellow!) shoes! £26. So a spendy day. Still, we are really not spending much day to day on this trip because we are mostly taking food with us for lunch and entrance fees/parking are minimal. Just spending quite a bit on the weekly Tesco order, today’s will be £130 but that includes wine, nappies and food for 3 adults, including lunches, as my mum is joining us next week. We’ll need a tipuo of bread and fruit but otherwise that should be it.

I need to read back properly over yesterday as I just skimmed - you were all very chatty!

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/08/2018 07:17

Ok, yes do try and buy oil while its cheap. Is your loft insulated with 270mm of insulation? all draughts sealed up, thick curtains shut at sunset? I lived rurally for a while and it does help.

Can you get any of your insurances cheaper and cancel any non essential services like spotify premium?.

Do you pay the council tax over 12 months or 10? we pay over 12 as its about £30 less to find each month, I'm no better off but it's less to find each month.

Could you save money on food? meal plan and stop all branded food. Shop at aldi?

SnugglySnerd · 03/08/2018 07:34

The family on EWFL had a beautiful house. They often seem to be quite well off families. I suppose those of us with less money have to budget well. Before dcs when we had loads of disposable income we had takeaways and ate out loads without thinking about it. How I now wish I'd spent some of that money on the mortgage.

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/08/2018 07:36

Its Fridaaaaaaay!!!
Aaaah !
This was one thing I really missed when on ML -that Friday feeling 😂
DH put the fish for dinner tonight in the freezer -why?Confused
Who knows?Nothing he does makes any sense whatsoever, he cantreally explain why Grin
So baked sausage with peppers etc instead.

LonelyOversharer · 03/08/2018 07:49

seacow are those the uber cute Clarks cruisers by any chance? They keep coming up on my adverts bar on here, after perousing the Clarks sale! I mourn wee baby girls shoes. Alas mine no longer want them.

Am up in time. We are going to have a lot of rain today I think.

Productively I sorted the clean laundry mountain out last night. Dp can wash and dry clothes it seems, but does not do a sort or fold. I filled (refilled) five, yes five full laundry baskets. Sigh. At least each child can collect their own basket now. This meant I did not get the work I brought home finished.

We are also living on dp's homemade pizza. Utterly scrummy, but I think he needs a meal plan with some other meals on it! I'm also contemplating an online shop. Getting a bit time poor here.
