I'm back. We had visitors last weekend so we had a busy and not very frugal few days. I've been reading but didn't have time to post.

Anyway, I've caught up on the last few pages.

em I hope the medication helps. I'm sure MIL's departure will help too. It was lovely to read about DS squealing in excitement when you chase him and the enjoyment he gets out of his little books. It brings back memories of DD at that age. He's at a lovely stage and you sound like a very fun and caring mum. Your toe nails turned out fab. We have a fax machine in work but we hardly ever use it as we have scanners now, so we can scan the relevant document and send it by e-mail. The fax machine is at a remote spot in the office so sometimes there's a fax sitting on it for a few days before anyone notices Blush.

north is your DS really finished school now? I thought he was around 14 or 15! What are his plans for next year?

Wolf sorry to hear about the tyres. That's an expense you could have done without although I guess you would have had to get the tyres in a few months anyway. If you can't afford to pay for them now, maybe take up your Dad's offer and pay him back for one each month.

Lonely more tyre trouble for you too!

Cag I must have missed a post somewhere but I'm assuming you've been offered a house? That's brilliant. I can't wait for Monday now, to hear all about it. If you do accept, when are you likely to move in?

Sunny that's exciting about getting insurance for your gadget. When are you going? And where? I mean, is it in the UK or abroad? You don't have to be too specific if you feel it might out you. Your mention of the "goose like honking" made me laugh. Poor DH having to put up with that din Grin.

Love I can't believe your mum sent you the link to that particular sermon Shock! I know people re-act to things in different ways but that's a very odd re-action. Anyway, feel free to post and talk as much as you need.

Seacow it sounds like you gave your Dad a lovely send off. Well done for getting through your speech. The letter your Dad wrote to your Mum sounds very moving and I hope it gave her (and will continue to give her) some comfort at such a bleak time. I'm glad to hear that DD is a source of comfort and joy for you.

We've had a glorious two weeks here with lots of sunshine. I suggested a barbecue to DH earlier but he's still in bed (he's awake but resting). I'll see what he says when he gets up. The containers we planted and the hanging basket are doing great. The daisy tree was suffering a bit in the porch (too much sun and heat I think) so we've moved it outside, into the back garden. Hopefully it will perk up again.

tayto Thanks for asking. It was actually just a mile or two by car so not too far at all. My gadget is £8000 worth of optics though so I needed to insure it to remove it from the house. It all went well though, and the gadget is safely ensconced in it's own room in the research lab now. Fun fun fun.

We have ILs today, music lesson and then a dancing display. So far so good.

ememem84 · 09/06/2018 13:53

Riding £27. None next week. I was debating going today because I felt a bit off (and incidentally had a rubbish lesson). But glad I did go otherwise I’d have to go without for 2 weeks!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 09/06/2018 14:27

€3.80 on tolls
Must pick up something to take to my brothers for bbq grabbed a 6 pack of crisps before leaving the house so only something with that needed.

CremeEggThief · 09/06/2018 15:28

I've received my annual electricity and gas summary today. £320.54 for electricity and £426.05 for gas, so I'm pleased with that. £736.59 for both. That's on a smart meter with Utilita.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/06/2018 15:35

Yes crème , ed Sheeran

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/06/2018 15:36

£3.50 parking, wasting time in a park before tea at Byron burgers. I spy with my little eye something beginning with c ( not a swear word)

ememem84 · 09/06/2018 15:52

Ds and I are napping. Well I want to and he’s meant to be. He’s on bed with me. Wiggling about. Kicking me. We’re top and tailing. He loves rolling about on the bed. Catface is here too and the two of them have somehow taken up all the room.

I’m waiting for him to nod off so I can sleep. He’s way too rolly. He’ll go off the bed soon! Haha!

Wolfcub · 09/06/2018 17:47

Creme that seems bargainous gas and electric. Mine is double that. Must do better! Working at home is a killer for using heating in winter
Enjoy the concert Life

WreckTangled · 09/06/2018 17:54

I napped for two hours. It was amazing! Dh is getting Indian, we haven't had one for ages!

I agree creme that's really good for your gas and electricity Smile I need to submit readings actually

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/06/2018 18:07

Tesco direct are selling off the dishwashers.

Wolfcub · 09/06/2018 18:20

I managed to nap for 10 minutes until the tyre men came. Would have loved a little bit longer. Have done lots of jobs and the house (downstairs) looks a bit better. Needs dusting but I reckon you don’t notice that so much if the rest is done Roast dinner nearly ready. It’s a partial cheat roast as it was supposed to be a midweek meal but it smells good and it’s nice not to have a “quick” dinner which is what we’ve really been subsisting on.
Ds enjoyed his hobby magazine and we watched journey 2. I love the Rock Blush
I may have a look at Tesco direct fluffy. Don’t need a dishwasher but I’m interested at what else they have

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/06/2018 18:58

Had a nice day, dd had a good riding lesson and we popped to a church fete this afternoon. They were selling 2 books for 50p so got 4!! Also some plants for 50p and cakes for £1.

Spent the afternoon tidying the front garden which now looks a million times better.

Feeling a bit rubbish now and wondering if I'm due on, I swear af comes round quicker each month 😕

LonelyOversharer · 09/06/2018 19:30

Had a good day here, pottering in the garden and working this morning. Dd3 has gone onto dd2's 24" bike, so dp is going to spray her 20" (white and pink) one for ds. They are Ghosts, so v v good bikes. One perk from having had a money pit bike shop.

Went to pick up dd2 from my mums, and spent £13 in hobbycraft, stuff for dd1's gcse. And £23 in asda. Have made the cake for ds (6 tomorrow), just need to turn it into a lego batman now. Just going to watch the f1 qualifying first.

LonelyOversharer · 09/06/2018 19:34

girlie what about a mirena coil? I have one purely to stop my periods. There is a tiny amount of hormone in them, but not enough to make me crazy, and I'm very sensitive to it. I have literally gone from not functioning for days after ds (was always light before him) to half a day of light cramps and a bit of spotting. Tis bliss.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 09/06/2018 19:53

€12.60 in shop on bits for my brothers house and €50 on fuel card.
My niece is so gorgeous Grin

Enjoy concert life
No idea how that compares to our billing creme
Wolf sounds like ye are enjoying the day after getting chores out of the way this morning. How's H doing with his recent health scare?

Girlie why not track your cycle on an app and see if it has gotten shorter? #imanerd

SnugglySnerd · 09/06/2018 22:02

Thanks for lupin advice Girlie. That's another little job for tomorrow...

Wolfcub · 09/06/2018 22:14

Mammy yes it’s been a good day. Contact in the morning so hoping we can keep steering a stable weekend after that. I know H is out of hospital set to recover at home with a immediate pass into hospital if things get worse as I understand it. I’ve tried to keep my distance since then.

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 22:16

Not even attempted to be frugal today. I feel really guilty for saying this under the circumstances but I’m not coping at all :( am totally overwhelmed. And then feeling guilty for being overwhelmed and sad and stressed when I should be excited. Which I am. We have waited for so long for this. But it’s totally overshadowed by my brain being stupid and me being useless. I hate my brain.

QuiteCleanBandit · 09/06/2018 22:31

Cag
I think you are being very hard on yourself .
Moving house is one of the most stressful life events and I for one was describing how I spectacularly and publicly I lost the plot during our last house move ,to my friends only yesterday.
I feel nauseous at the thought of ever doing it again.
Breathe .Your reaction is completely normal both the excited and the overwhelmed bit .
Put your tiny violin away Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/06/2018 23:10

cag moving house is massive and it is overwhelming, I for one am never moving again, they would have to drag me out of this house kicking and screaming!! Be kind to yourself 😚

Thanks for period advice, I'm not keen on having a coil for various reasons but am going to keep track a bit more closely as am sure they are becoming more frequent. It's a shame you can't just switch an off button when you get to the point where you know you don't want any more kids!!

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 23:19

Thanks lovelies

I AM totally excited don’t get me wrong. For example. Earlier I was sitting in the park in town as the Caglets all rolled/crawled about in the grass... and it suddenly hit me, in like a month they could be doing that in OUR GARDEN. 😱❤️

That makes me want to cry in a good way. Maybe a cry in general is what’s needed as I seem to veer between wanting a happy cry and a sad cry a million times a day ATM.

(PS quite I’m now rather intrigued about your public plot losing)

I asked the Caglets what colour they want their bedrooms. DD said gold with dinosaurs. DS said black, with different colours on different bits for all the different groups of the periodic table. FML.

ChristmasSeacow · 10/06/2018 00:19

Aw Cag, I suspect you’ll feel as though your emotions are all over the place until you are in and have unpacked the kettle and made the beds. Moving house is utterly horrible. As an army brat I can’t tell you how many times I moved home up till I left home for uni (and then I moved rooms every year, and moved everything in and out each and every vacation too). In fact I just counted up and I lived in 14 different homes up to the age of 18, and then 8 different places in 8 years up to the age of 26. In all seriousness, wanting to put down roots was one, if not the main, reason I didn’t pursue an academic career after my PhD - I just couldn’t face the thought of a peripatetic lifestyle a minute longer. Honestly, if at all possible I want to stay in my current house forever. Only financial catastrophe (or mega millions) or DS’s schooling needs would induce me to move house again.

Anyway, what I am saying is that it is stressful, and expensive, and everyone hates it. Even without an ASD brain, which is not stupid but which I can imagine will make moving that much harder. Be kind to yourself. You will get there. And your lives will be so much improved. Just take small steps for now. We are all rooting for you, come and vent whenever you need.

We had a fairly good day in the garden and our only spends were DH buying a newspaper and blueberries, and me filling the car up as we were on fumes (£61 Shock). However, at kids’ bedtime disaster struck because something has now ‘gone’ in DH’s back. He said it had been hurting all day (so I am a bit exasperated that he didn’t ditch the gardening but apparently he didn’t want to let me down Confused). But he now can’t bend, can hardly walk etc. He’s more mobile than I was initially but I still think he’s going to be out of action for a bit. He’s never had a day off work sick in the 20 years he’s been working so I’m interested to see what Monday brings... in any case, it’s a good job I can wrangle DD again 😕

ChristmasSeacow · 10/06/2018 00:20

On and Cag pleeeease say you are doing the gold dinosaur bedroom? 😂

CremeEggThief · 10/06/2018 00:43

3 house moves here between 2013 and 2017, Cag. The last move was 3 weeks from viewing to moving in. No wonder my depression and anxiety flared up big style last summer for the rest of the year, even though each move was the right one at the right time. [Private rent to H.A. then to another H.A. in a more suitable house in a better connected area.]

You'll be fine, but aim to do things little and often, rather than trying to do everything at once. Any tips/advice, please pm me. X
