Who's in this month?

March no spend thread here

I've some very big spends in April but I will try very hard to keep my NSDs as high as possible.

I'm in! Starting the month off with a NSD Grin

lildevil · 01/04/2018 23:31

I'm hoping to last the month with no spend. I've had to fork out £800 for car repairs which took a lot of my savings.

justdontknow45 · 02/04/2018 11:51

I'm here!
Need to get Cards down, and roofs decided to leak, need to save for that at least it will be dry soon ( I hope ) and can save through summer for a new conservatory roof!

FoolandFitz · 02/04/2018 12:50

Eek! Just spent £428 on 6 dining chairs. I did say it was going to be an expensive month.

Yesterday was NSD though Grin

I need some NSDs this month. We've got 2 holidays to finish paying for (one UK) and a school trip for DD2. So I need to keep the rest of the spending down to compensate.

Silvertap · 02/04/2018 12:55

Hello can I join in please. Need to have a tight month before the onset of summer and the holiday season.

NSD yesterday.

FoolandFitz · 02/04/2018 16:16

totally that’s a good positive start 😁

lil the good news is that at least you had savings to dip into I guess. I’m sure you’ll be able to top up the savings again

just leaking roof is just the worst. We had a leaking roof when it rained a lot. Nightmare. Weather is clearing up so that’s good.

good to have you here dr and silver. Smile

Here’s to us keeping the spending down as much as possible.

I'm in this month.
I gave up about 5 days into March as I could see that it wasn't going to happen!
Hoping this month will be better, but we are moving house so this could prove tricky.

Silvertap · 03/04/2018 06:14

Just £3 yesterday on parking at a local reservoir to run the children about. Took drinks with us.

Need to get back on the healthy eating wagon as I'm a bit of a podgy sloth at the moment.

Should be a NSD today as I'm at work.

NickyNackyNoodleNoo · 03/04/2018 06:35

I'm in!

Nothing spent so far this month however my car is currently on fumes and our fridge is bare, spendy day for me. However I intend to stick to my shopping list and go tonight after we've eaten to prevent impulse buys well that's the plan

I've also started my Christmas/birthday present drawer which is filling up nicely. But that's probably another thread.

Squirrel26 · 03/04/2018 08:01

Can I come in?
Bought a house last year, so now I need to rebuild my savings! Currently live in fear of something breaking/leaking/expiring.

Also I need to replace the tyres on my car tomorrow. Ouch. Sad

MessySurfaces · 03/04/2018 15:15

I feel like this year is the perpetual no spend alternated with compulsory spendy holidays (lots of family obligations this year...). This month is 50-50. We shall see how we go!!

Silvertap · 03/04/2018 20:06

Hello. NSD for me today. Took lunch to work.

Depending on weather tomorrow will either be taking children to the park or swimming

FoolandFitz · 03/04/2018 21:54

Welcome Squirrel and Nicky

Messy I know what you mean. So £19 on a meal out with friends today. I’m not doing well as last month and it’s only day three Sad. I need Easter holidays to be over, I always spend more in the holidays.

1 NSD out of 3 days

NefretForth · 03/04/2018 21:56

May I join? I'm on holiday next week, so won't do very well this month, but have had a NSD today which is a good start (and the only spending since the start of the month has been the gas and electricity bills). Hoping for NSD tomorrow, but having dinner out with friends on Thursday.

NickyNackyNoodleNoo · 03/04/2018 22:40

I decided not to go food shopping, instead I've raided the freezer and cupboards and managed to cobble together a menu plan for the week. I feel quite a sense of achievement, it's amazing what we had lurking. We're even having steak one night!

thetellingerror · 03/04/2018 23:26

I'm planning to do this too. Freezer is rammed full of food and so is the cupboard. I'll buy milk and perhaps extra fresh fruit for my daughter but otherwise using up my reserves!

breadwidow · 03/04/2018 23:47

Need to join again. Oven broke, fixing it costs about the same as replacing so we'll have a big and unexpected expense. This week won't be great on the spend front as it's my birthday, week after also difficult as school holidays so I'll have to really focus on latter half of the month

Silvertap · 04/04/2018 07:00

It's hard being out of routine I think. My child is only in reception and this is the first year I've really had to think of activities for the holidays. It's easy to get expensive. We've got two day trips already booked and paid for (snow dome & dinosaur world). That still leaves 12 days to fill!

I'm impressed you managed to get a week out of your freezer! Need to do the same.

FoolandFitz · 04/04/2018 17:03

silver totally agree with you being out of routine. DS is an only so we try really hard to make sure he has stuff to do with friends. Most of the time they go to each others’ houses and play but not always. They like to do climbing or laser quest or something equally expensive.

NSD today

OP posts:
Silvertap · 05/04/2018 06:49

£5.35 on swimming yesterday. Took drinks and snacks so no spend there.

Also did the library.

Today is one of our big outings. The activity is booked and paid for but lunch isn't. Meeting friends so have to eat out but for both diet and purse I need to just have one course!

BetterEatCheese · 05/04/2018 07:09

NSD for me today and hopefully for a couple more days. Aldi shop and fuel yesterday so should be good for a bit.

Squirrel26 · 05/04/2018 12:15

For a normal week, I am doing abysmally, but actually I’m on annual leave, but haven’t gone away on holiday, so I keep telling myself that even though I’ve spent money on coffee out 3 days in a row at least I haven’t bought any flights anywhere!

Back to work next week, so hoping to do better.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/04/2018 23:40

I'm off with the kids as I'm a teacher. Yesterday was a great day, budget wise.

Today - terrible. My MOT said I needed 2 new tyres on my car soon, which I got on the way back from taking DD ice skating.

Squirrel26 · 06/04/2018 10:23

I feel your car tyre pain - I had to get 4 new ones on Wednesday!
