March no spend ...

Peachsnowpop · 26/02/2018 06:56

Who's in for March ?

I have to pay a £450 credit card bill and want to put £800 in to savings. This is going to make things extremely tight. But ! With budgeting and NSDs I hope I can achieve it. Good luck to everyone else for March

NSD!

totallyLosingIt · 15/03/2018 22:21

@MessySurfaces you're right! I only have a small amount of money left this month (the excess from last month has gone into savings), so I kind of feel it's silly to hold on to that when there are things I will need in the not too distant future! Once I fall off the money saving wagon I struggle to get back on, so if I buy the bits I need now then I won't be forced to "fall off" in another month. That's my odd logic! But realistically what you have said is right!

madamefraser · 16/03/2018 15:51

Hello, been lurking since the beginning of the month, and not doing too badly on the main account..hoping , because of this thread to be in credit at the end of the month...have bought a dress in the sales today which I shouldn't have done..it's gone on my credit card! ....feeling v guilty.....

pinkroseapp · 16/03/2018 16:09

£25 left from our weekly allowance, 2 more days to go.

MessySurfaces · 16/03/2018 19:44

Wow, well done pink!
really truly NSD for me today, yaaaay! The first this month! I'm avoiding checking my bank account in case a direct debit went out and spoiled it...

FoolandFitz · 16/03/2018 20:15

That's pretty good pink - I would be pleased with that, hopefully you've not got a big meal out for a friend's birthday though Grin

messy well done on your NSD. That's great. And you hampstead for Thursday.

And thanks wigwig - I have been doing a lot of research on personal finance lately.

Yesterday was a VERY spendy day:

£5.06 for lunch
£39.75 for petrol
£60 for train travel in the future - this is for 4 people return to London so pretty pleased on the whole and I will get half the money back from friends

Today was NSD (11 out of 16 days)

HampsteadHeathen · 16/03/2018 23:07

I spent about £5 on groceries at the corner shop.

Fool 11 out of 16 days is amazing!

I will be spending quite a lot tomorrow as I've got several things on including dinner out.

Chimichangaz · 17/03/2018 06:54

I'm not doing great with the NSD at the moment. Have had some ESOD and am definitely spending less on groceries which was my aim. A good side effect is that I haven't had to transfer money out of my savings since January. I transfer £500 a month straight in and I usually transfer some of it back during the month. Massive achievement for me not to have touched it for 2 months. Will be a spendy day for me today as I'm job hunting following a restructure at work and have realised how dire my work wardrobe is Confused

FoolandFitz · 17/03/2018 13:16

Planned spending £30 for tutor
(11 out of 17 NSD)

FoolandFitz · 17/03/2018 13:18

chimi I'd say not dipping into your savings is a massive win. Star

HampsteadHeathen · 18/03/2018 10:56

Spent less than expected yesterday as one event was cancelled.

£27 for dinner out.

Gah81 · 18/03/2018 19:23

Back from business trip and waiting to get a bunch of stuff back on expenses. So lots of NSDs for me recently really, but there is still a business-trip shaped hole in my bank account this month. Hopefully they will pay me back soon!

Otherwise, the mindful spending thing this month has left me with enough money to put some more into savings and also into my newly-consolidated pension pot.

Well done all on the NSDs!

HampsteadHeathen · 18/03/2018 22:29

NSD apart from £30 for DD's tutor.

HampsteadHeathen · 20/03/2018 17:03

I spent about £18 in Superdrug today on toiletries and sanitary towels. All were fairly basic and all had offers but it does add up.

Had a doctors appointment and went to Costa afterwards but managed to use the points on my Costa card for that.

FoolandFitz · 20/03/2018 18:25

NSD on Suday and Monday. Need to order a couple of birthday presents online this evening plus transfer £20 for niece's birthday.

MessySurfaces · 20/03/2018 20:33

Forgot I had a work do this evening, feeling v chuffed for not buying emergency clothes or emergency dinner!
Had a pet related emergency yesterday which involved spending £30 to little avail though.
So ESODs (essential spend only days) both today and yesterday, with just the bus fares and the pet spends.

breadwidow · 20/03/2018 20:45

Completely NSD! Had to log it.

AdoraBell · 20/03/2018 22:42

Have failed dismally this month Hmm I will do better in April.

totallyLosingIt · 21/03/2018 12:45

Same here @AdoraBell ... I'm continuing with the spending (only small amounts here and there) until pay day on Sunday, then I must tighten my belt again next month.

BonnieF · 21/03/2018 13:53

Today is my fourth consecutive NSD Smile. I’m getting the hang of this lark. Not spending can be habit -forming.

elvislives2012 · 21/03/2018 22:14

LOST YOU ALL!!!!! I was in February NSD and beginning of March but then los my mojo, haven't been reckless but IT'S BORING not spending any money! How do I keep my eye on the prize? I want to clear *k by December, am 1k down so far.....

HampsteadHeathen · 22/03/2018 07:03

Elvis it is boring but I don't seem to mind so much at this time of the year. I think I will find it harder not to spend in the summer. I'm single and self employed in a job that means I don't have much contact with others so when I'm feeling more sociable I will need to spend more money!

Yesterday I spent about £3 in Tesco on milk and fruit.

elvislives2012 · 22/03/2018 08:57

Yuk it really is!! Won't be a NSD today as pay day means I fill up my car!

HampsteadHeathen · 22/03/2018 18:26

Today I've spent £30 on clothes for DD and £12.20 on groceries.

HampsteadHeathen · 24/03/2018 09:23

I had dinner out last night £16 (planned) and had to buy a present for DD's friend's birthday £8.
