March no spend ...

Peachsnowpop · 26/02/2018 06:56

Who's in for March ?

I have to pay a £450 credit card bill and want to put £800 in to savings. This is going to make things extremely tight. But ! With budgeting and NSDs I hope I can achieve it. Good luck to everyone else for March

I'll be joining for as many nsd as possible, hopefully at least 4 a week. We're going on holiday at the end of the month so the extra money would be invaluable for that. I had a nsd yesterday and working from home today and tomorrow so hoping they'll be nsd

madamefraser · 01/03/2018 11:12

I'm in ! I'm finding it really helps me keep an eye on spending....

cafune7 · 01/03/2018 11:17

I'm in too. this thread just stopped me from buying a £100 bag. All in, then

I treated myself to a much needed new handbag £40 but that is it this month. Wanted to go to an exercise class tonight but it's £6 and im not spending the cash so I'm not going. I fancy wine tonight and tomorrow too but, again, I refuse to spend the cash. That's £16 not spent. Need to be strong!!

I’m glad to see this is going to run on 🏃‍♀️

I really benefited doing this in January and have changed habits for February which has helped my cash stop flowing 😂

I’m going on holiday in March, and have time off at home through the month - so am not going to join you for now

Good luck everyone with keeping your cash in your purse 👛 and not spending on anything but food and fuel

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 01/03/2018 17:24

I'm in! It was a rubbish February for me.
I've done a big shop today. Went out and also got shopping for neighbours as we are in area with lots of snow and a struggle to get out. I think it'll be a NSD tomorrow. Not sure about Saturday, it's my DD 13th birthday and we'd normally go out for a meal, but really not sure what the weather holds.

FoolandFitz · 01/03/2018 17:58

Aw ivykaty Sad I really enjoyed your contributions (while I was lurking) but hope to see you back in April?

NSD. Start as I mean to go on.

PirateYellowbelly · 01/03/2018 18:13

NSD and should also have one tomorrow too. No incentive to go shopping when so bleak outside!

NickyNackyNoodleNoo · 01/03/2018 18:21

Damn it I was hoping for a snow day NSD but my DH went to work in my car and filled it with petrol. It was a lovely thought but that's a £50 spend for me but I guess a necessary spend plus it saves me filling it and should last a few weeks.

Pinkbendyman · 01/03/2018 18:30

I'm in! I've done really well in January and February. Food shopping at mainly Lidl and Aldi has helped enormously and I love having NSDs!

Gah81 · 01/03/2018 19:25

Boiler has broken this evening! Have just had to call a plumber out: minimum £170 + VAT spend. Sigh.

Nicpem1982 · 01/03/2018 19:30

Nsd here :) hoping another one tomorrow

HampsteadHeathen · 01/03/2018 19:31

Oh no! Boiler trouble is the worst.

Essential spends only today, a grocery shop plus medicine and cough sweets!

ivykaty44 · 01/03/2018 19:33

fool&fitz thanks, i started this as I’d over spent in November & December, so wanted to try and rein in the spending. Having achieved that it was greT. I hadn’t expected it to roll on through to February 😄

I may be back in April, we’ll see 😂

Trying2bgd · 01/03/2018 20:30

I'm in too. I need to get back on the wagon. Am trying to embrace minimalism, i feel like I'm drowning in stuff accumulated over the years. Watching my spending will help with this as well as saving for a slightly earlier retirement

Chimichangaz · 01/03/2018 23:51

Almost a NSD except I had the news I was dreading that basically my job is gone and they are trying to force me elsewhere so unfortunately resorted to wine and chocs. Tomorrow is another day....

Strawberrythief87 · 02/03/2018 07:53

Oh Chimi that's terrible news. I hope you've got the support you need and find a good role soon.
NSD yesterday but looks like I've picked up a nasty cold so today I may need to pay out for some supplies (both medical and comfort)

Chimichangaz · 02/03/2018 08:14

Thanks Strawberry

chickenowner · 02/03/2018 13:02

£40 on petrol yesterday.

NSD today.

Smile
Sib86 · 02/03/2018 13:50

Hello I'd like to join! Although I have kind of spent a bit already (get paid mind Feb so it kind of crosses over). Need to be super sensible now as dropped to maternity pay and want to avoid getting into any more debt before going back to work! I have £51 to spend before 20th March (so roughly two weeks). I will be doing my absolute best to avoid costa (last month must of spent at least £25 there and now there's drive through in my area its hard to resist!!). I do need a hair cut as I have a a special occasion coming up and I also have nothing to wear!!! Not sure how I will afford both these things along with absolutely nothing else!?
I'm already making good progress with food shops etc (this is separate budget), I plan all meals now and saving on shopping plus wasting much less food.
I have £130 disposable a month, is this realistic? Thats for anything I want/need such as make up, clothes, birthday gifts, outings, things for the kids etc. I'd love to challenge myself to spend as little as possible!!

Good luck everyone!

pinkroseapp · 02/03/2018 14:17

NSD today.Grin

HampsteadHeathen · 02/03/2018 16:11

Essential spends only today: Morrisons £12.09 for loo rolls, washing up liquid, toilet cleaner and a few food items.

I've cancelled what I had planned for tomorrow due to the weather but I will save on train fares.

Nicpem1982 · 02/03/2018 16:27

Not too bad for me today only a 4.10 in Tesco on some treats for movie night so that's budgeted for no additional spend for me.

Activity for tomorrow has been cancelled so that will save on parking and coffee whilst dd does activity. So hopefully nsd bar food shop as well play board games and lounge about.

SandysMam · 02/03/2018 16:32

Sib86...go to Supercuts or Celly’s for a haircut, much cheaper than fashionable luxury salons and have always found them good as they cut so much hair! As for something new to wear...are you sure you really need something? Nothing lurking in your wardrobe? Honestly, no one will remember when you wore it last!
