I have so many Christmas presents to get it stresses me out. Well, the ones that I find hard are my nan and grandad, grandad, nan and step grandad, my aunt, uncle, aunt and her husband. Honestly what do I get them?! I’ve done hampers, photos, food, smelled blah blah. It’s so difficult.

I’ve got the drs at 11. Need to get my thumb sorted Hmm

Wreck does that cost a lot? I think I'd be giving home made cards and a packet of biscuits each if I had that many relatives. I haven't had grandparents since 1983, and no aunts or uncles. It must be nice to have so many people who are all yours.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/10/2017 09:04

I'm still feeling pretty guilty about bringing an only child into my very small extended family though. He has no siblings and no cousins, so our population is getting very thin indeed.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/10/2017 09:04

Hope today is more productive cag.
I remember that em. The look of shock on their face is hilarious. Mix feeding is fine. Do what works for your family.

Wreck, do you have to get them presents? That sounds mean I know but could you have the no present conversation then maybe have a nice afternoon tea with them. You could maybe make it and spend a couple of hours with them instead? I found grandparents v hard to buy for.

Just rescued my elderly ndn who had a fall. She's fine just a bit shocked and embarrassed. Every nurse would have a fit at my lifting techniques. I put on an awesome dressing though.

ememem84 · 23/10/2017 09:08

Payday! Woop.

Have moved some money around. Out joint account was £95 overdrawn. Oops.

WreckTangled · 23/10/2017 09:10

I feel like I do. My sisters and I are the only grandchildren/nieces. My nan and grandad give dh and I £50 plus small presents plus small presents and £20 to the dc. We’re very close. I know they don’t expect anything, it could even be a token gift but I don’t know what! I was thinking of the patisserie Valerie afternoon tea you can buy maybe.

Oh wreck I hate doing adult pressies! My grandma is 94, what do you get a 94yr old who rarely leaves the house? She's very much faculties intact, but won't do anything for herself now, and tells my mum off if I forget I always forget My auntie who cares for her is the only other adult bar my parents I buy for. My parents are a nightmare to buy for too. They hate clutter, but my dad loves gifts, so what do you do!?

cag hang in there. A nice calm (non emergency) c-section is ok! Plus it will force you to rest up (and no fear of going to the loo afterwards!) You don't drive anyway, which was the only thing that pissed me off, I lasted 3 weeks (ex dp back to work in france and I kinda needed food). So will they book you in for tomorrow? hoping talk of c-section will get you going!

Not planning on moving far today. The dc are awake, but not bothered me too much yet!

Well done life it's lovely that your neighbour can call on you.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/10/2017 09:40

Morning all,

Wreck this year for the first time we have agreed a 'kids only' rule at Christmas, I can't afford to buy for all the grown ups as well. Tbh I am going to struggle to buy for all the kids as well...

Cag hope things move along, as it were, today Wink

Thats fab that ds will take happily from you and a bottle Em dd was like that and it made life soooooo much easier.

Don't feel guilty Sunny one child is enough! I had a crap nights sleep last as well for no reason whatsoever!

Hope your ds is o.kay North

Survived our first night with the little dog, she slept up with me. I don't want to jinx it but so far she seems the perfect little dog for us

Plan today is walk the dog a lot and make banana bread Grin

LonelyOversharer · 23/10/2017 09:40

Feck, the tumble dryer isn't tumbling. So not needed right now. I've sworn at it and switched it off (was making the 'I'm working' noise without working). Will have to get dp to look at it. I hope it's not broken.

SnugglySnerd · 23/10/2017 09:46

I hate buying adult pressies too. I don't think I can give them yet another picture of the dcs. That's all they ever get for birthdays and Xmas.

How was the first night with the dog Girlie?
Hope you are OK this morning Cag.

northender · 23/10/2017 10:20

I have lots of aunties, uncles, cousins but we don't do presents. No grandparents so it is literally our parents and sil, husband and dnephew. The problem is that dh's family go big budget on presents so dh feels we should too. My family are the complete opposite and are very definitely low budget which makes it much easier.
Hope you get your thumb sorted wreck
Well done on helping your neighbour out life, hope she's okay
Lonely hope you get your tumble dryer sorted, ther's never a right time for these things to happen, but some times are better than others...

CollieBobs · 23/10/2017 10:59

Thanks for the thread wreck!

girlie little dog sounds happy! I'm a bit envious. I'd love love love a dog! But the rehoming place doesn't like rehoming dogs to families yet but when he's older we'll definitely get one!

sunny we feel a bit like that! Wish we could adopt some Grandparents. There's plenty of lonely elderly people out there and they're such gems to talk to. That's why we reconnected with my Grandma's best friend. As she has no family either. Plus she's brilliant and witty!

Today is a NSD.

Frugal win though because the buses now take contactless payment which means I no longer have to withdraw cash and buy random crap to break some change up! The tiniest of frugal wins but still... Grin

cag thinking of you m'love! X

WreckTangled · 23/10/2017 11:45

Got antibiotics. Dr said it’s too deep and close to the joint for topical.

Collie that’s great I hate having to find change for things, for us it’s usually parking or school things.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/10/2017 12:03

Wreck. Patisserie Valerie is nice and quite often comes up on Groupon

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/10/2017 12:20

Ndn is fine thanks. I popped in just before we went out to check for delayed shock and she was taking it easy in bed.

Smyth's toys this morning. DC spent £30 each from their purse. I spent £14 between them as they have been superstars this morning.
£10 late on birthday card and however much it costs me to pay dd into a party ds is invited to.
£5 back later as someone is picking up some sale items.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/10/2017 12:21

Collie I'm right with you there. We have adopted half the street in grandparents, and are currently feeding 3 cats and 4 chickens for the holidays too.

100yearsdotcom · 23/10/2017 12:22

Checking in, thanks for the new thread wreck and OMG that sounds horrible, hope it gets sorted soon x

Cag, hope you're OK x

WreckTangled · 23/10/2017 13:46

There’s is a hairball/sick the size of a large rat on my kitchen floor but I can’t clean it up. I tried but I was gagging. I’ve had to shut the door and leave it for dh Blush

Hope the antibiotics do the trick Wreck

Fingers crossed that tumble dryer is fixable.

Well done life 👍

Hope all going well Cag

Today will be an NSD, I can’t be bothered leaving the house.

100yearsdotcom · 23/10/2017 14:02

Eeep!

On a totally different note, is it snuggly who freezes and reheats chip shop chips? I did it last week and want to eat them tonight but thought I'd check if there's any tricks to doing it right?

ememem84 · 23/10/2017 14:09

Hope alls going well cag

£14 ish in farm shop. £1.79 on a decaf coffee (which took forever to arrive and wasn’t that nice). Then the £14 on frozen pecan danishes, frozen pain au raisin, and frozen croissants, a litre of milk and a pack of sliced jaarlsberg.

Came home decided to make naice cheese on toast for lunch. mmmm

ChristmasSeacow · 23/10/2017 14:24

Suspense indeed... a good sign I hope!

We've just come back from a play date for DS with a boy from the SN playgroup he used to go to. It wasn't entirely successful from the boys' POV but no one got upset and mum and I had a lovely chat... so I count that a relative success!

NSD so far but I need beans and petrol.
