Hey Meadow! My mind is boggling at vegan chorizo....

Sorry about your dignity Wreck but glad no proper harm was done.

Keep massaging them boobs Em

You are so right about decluttering Cag. I feel frustrated at myself sometimes, knowing how much second hand stuff I have bought (so someone can make it worthwhile, clearly!) but I just know I won't do it. I decided I would try to sell my bigger baby equipment but just give the rest away. We've given literally hundreds of books to charity in the last year too. It just feels great to be able to liberate some space and know it had gone to be useful again and not to landfill. I still need a talking to to get tougher about the crap stored in the spare room. Mostly my own clothes.

Thanks for all your thoughts on my dilemma. I can definitely work on a consultancy basis but it is likely to be short intense projects, so much harder to fit with childcare (as a fixed overhead). And I don't think after school clubs are an option for DS (nor child minder - but that's due to severe lack of availability on our area). So we don't have great options. It would have to be a nanny (huge cost and trust issues! Although I think I could get a good feeling about someone if we are lucky). Or an au pair (trust /continuity/space issues). Or one of us giving up work or working flexibly. Which probably means moving. We are tied to London Sunny for DH's job (sadly it does not really come with a London salary!). Sigh. No decisions will be made quickly but it will be the Big Decision over the next year. I broached the subject with DH again last night and again he started to poo poo my concerns a bit... until I reminded him about school holidays. As Cag says, childcare is much more complex with SN and there are far fewer options. And they can be more expensive too. Even being passed around family for a week at a time would be hugely stressful for him. So we will need a solution that also solves the holiday problem.

This is why so many of the mums I have met with ASD kids don't work, many having given up good careers. Terrible that there isn't more help really.

Anyway, enough of that. Thanks everyone.

Poor DD is quite poorly with her first cold (a milestone - hurrah Hmm) so is more vommmity than usual. On the other hand DS has been lovely.

Sunny I forgot to reply to your earlier post about DD's gastric problems- thanks for thinking of us. I don't think it is a severe milk allergy as in the video, as DD isn't always very sick and also has no noticeable issues at the other end... however, I do wonder about a sensitivity to lactose, rather than a full allergy. I might try a different formula for a bit at least.

You must be almost through the time without your DH by now?

It has taken me ages to type this on my phone whilst walking up and down with DD so apologies for any cross posts.

ememem84 · 27/09/2017 20:34

Dh has gone to do a food shop. Leaving ds catface and me to fend for ourselves.

We're all watching bake off on catch up. Chocolate peanut butter puddings. Mm

100yearsdotcom · 27/09/2017 20:35

Ta fluffy! I thought so but was doubting myself, will look at the cashback too!

Good luck collie!

MeadowHay · 27/09/2017 20:36

Laska That's awful! Shock And can't help re: scab I'm afraid.

Collie Good luck for your interview!

I am watching this program on BBC2 about mental health medication and getting very anxious and angry. Some of the info is interesting but it's been made in a really biased and often misleading way and I am getting very angry thinking about anxious people with mental health problems who may watch this program and dangerously just stop taking their medication out of fear Angry. I hate programs like this that are not done responsibly! And the bloody thing has given me palpitations and anxiety blergh.

Thanks whoever said about the tax, that makes sense. Smile

Also whoever said about Phase Eight being too old, I'm 23 and have a gorgeous Phase Eight dress if that makes you feel any better! It's a purple midi dress that I have worn on a few special occasions. Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 27/09/2017 20:46

Phase eight is very hit and miss for all ages, imho. I have bypassed a lot of flowery frump stuff but had some great buys. If you like it then fair enough! Ditto Wallis, though I think of that as normal-to-officewear, while Phase eight us normal -to-occaduknweaf range.

Yy to the illegitimate comments! I am still a bit confused - when we registered DS (not married) I am sure the registrar said we could go back and reregister if we subsequently married. Not that we needed to. I am not going to anyway in protest.

I am Shock that that was commented on in 1990 Laska. And cantvsed ehh ug had any business in clinical notes one way of another Hmm. Fwiw I haven't changed my name in marriage and I make a point of correcting anyone who calls me mrs DH.

Gammon egg and chips tonight. I have absolutely no idea why I don't do this all the time.

Some of DH family do still sometimes refer to us as Mr and Mrs DHsurname though.. it doesnt particularly bother me ..

ChristmasSeacow · 27/09/2017 21:04

I don't bother correcting family (all the older generation assume...). Just official people like school Wink

mammymammyIRL · 27/09/2017 21:45

Em I don't usually sleep on my belly but did once after ds was born and woke in a puddle which I had to smell Blush to figure out which bodily fluid it was & it was milk 🍼 I guess the pressure from me lying on top of my full boobs caused them to leak Grin

Meadow good to hear from you

Seacow it's lovely that you're emphasising what you think Grin

mammymammyIRL · 27/09/2017 21:47

Collie good luck tomo

Today's spends €9.90 neurofen cold & flu tablets €11.15 on body fat calipers & measuring tape €11.15 on 2 tin whistles for dc & a pack of m&ms for dh

SunnyLikeThursday · 27/09/2017 21:48

Laska With Upwork I got offered a lot of rubbish contracts that I turned down and then out of the blue a great one came along that paid £35 an hour. It was wonderful and I really enjoyed it. In the end I gave up because there just weren't enough hours in the day, but it really was a nice job. It's definitely worth posting your details if you think you might like that kind of job. Decline the rubbish ones though. You'll get loads of weird offers that are no use (pay $10 for 5000 words)

Christmas Is there any chance that your DH would do the full time child care job while you go back to your well paid work job? There are a lot of Dads here who do that quite successfully, and if your dd is bottle fed then that's the main objection sorted. Just a thought anyway.

My DH has made it home from the US. He said it went well, but he does look very tired and coldy and sort of mottled all over his face from his body clock being all out. He's got anther big technical interview tomorrow, 7 hours followed by dinner out, with no break in between. I'm really hoping he gets a decent sleep tonight as he looks knackered.

DS and I managed well. Ds was very civilised and helpful for the whole time and then just kicked off massively when DH got home. Odd that.

I spent a ton on Minecraft books to keep ds entertaned while DH was away. It's not frugal at all, but it kept the peace nicely.

I've also been promoted to be a section assistant at Beavers, which is very nice. It means I'm insured now and will get extra training, which will be really good I reckon. All that is free, so I'm finally doing something that is actually frugal. Yay!

ememem84 · 27/09/2017 22:01

sunny tell dh to take a good multivitamin and wash it down with a rehydration drink. That usually helps me with the "jet lagged look" and moisturiser for his face. If he doesn't already use it and if you don't want him to use yours coconut oil is good.

meadow hi!!!!

I've had s couple of good buys in phase eight. Basic tips smart enough for work, and I also have a beautiful wine coloured cocktail style dress from there which was new with tags but picked up from a charity shop for a fiver. Result.
