Also, has anyone else seen this fantastic Economist analysis of swearing on MN?

28 sept sunny

Again I'm wondering if it's because I pushed myself to work for so long. Like when I stoooed riding I hurt for a few days after - delayed pain maybe.

Midwives have said that he could arrive at any time now though so we're playing the waiting game. He's 3/5 engaged apparently so it's close.

I'm planning on spending Monday (day one of leave) at home just sorting through stuff. Making sure everything is ready and maybe reading some book. Plan is to stay in bed until at least 1030.

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 16:53

Result. I had an email from betfair. Saying I had a free bet. So inspired by fluffy and I think lonely I pooed a couple of bets on. One on a horse (no research done here just placed the bet) and one for Lewis Hamilton to position at the Singapore gp. Fairly safe one that. I also had some ££ in my account from the grand national apparently.

My horse just won. Yay! So I'm £15.50 up. Whoop.

Sunny

I have a theory sunlight hours are linked to toenail growth. All my patients are in care homes. Well nourished, medicated correctly & warm. December to the end of Jan there's a reduction in nail growth & it restarts in February. Sunlight is the only thing that's changed.

Fluffy that's really interesting! I'll keep an eye out for that. :-)

Em I had no idea your due date was so far away. You sound ready to go. Interesting!

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 17:20

sunny it's not that far away....

man it's far

SnugglySnerd · 16/09/2017 17:28

I saw that in the Economist Sunny.
Interesting about the light. I like the autumn and winter up to a point but once Xmas is over I'm ready for spring.

Accidentally ate all the soup I made at lunch time. It was meant to last a few days but it was delicious. We all had 3 helpings!

SunnyLikeThursday · 16/09/2017 17:31

Em yeah I know what you mean. With me though, the engagement of the head happened one night, then the water broke the next night, and then induction was 48 hours later. It was all go go go after the head engaged. It may be very different for others though.

Taytocrisps · 16/09/2017 17:31

I didn't get to do a proper grocery shop this week so I've spent a fair bit on top up shops.

To atone for this, I ordered a Tesco delivery for Monday and set myself a budget of €50. It came in at €49.56 including a €3 delivery charge.

SunnyLikeThursday · 16/09/2017 17:33

Snuggly I'm the same, but that bit between December and Easter seems to last eons. I've noticed that dog walkers seem to be almost insulated from this stuff though, and I suspect it's because they have to go out, no matter what the weather is like. Last winter I noticed that getting out at lunchtime was much better than getting out at 4pm too. I'm having a good look at it this winter, to find out what's what.

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 17:56

I love autumn. Hate January.

I'm determined to get outside every day once baby arrives. I was told a few years ago I was slightly deficient in vitamin d so take supplements and was having booster injections. Since starting the horse riding and having to go outside though (and making sure I go out for at least a 40 minute walk at lunchtimes whilst at work) I haven't had any boosters.

Butternut squash and spinach lasagne for dinner. I'm "cooking" dh is doing it im perched on a kitchen stool supervising

He's been invited out fishing tomorrow. His mate has a boat and wants to go in search of tuna. Apparently they'll find them about 3 hours out... dh has said no. Which I'm sad about for him as he likes stuff like that, but Sod's law if he went tomorrow would be the day the boy decided to arrive.

Laska5772 · 16/09/2017 18:09

We are having a Marks and Spencers sandwich picnic in our ( very) budget hotel room.
It wasnt very budget though tiny IBis budgethotel room for £90 ! Was Booked well in avance but its Southampton on a night when the cruise ships leaving tomorrow.. we were lucky to get any room tbh.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/09/2017 18:26

Haven't read back but hope your are not affected by the floods em. Stay safe

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 18:34

No we're ok here life roads were full of sticks and leaves today though it rained like anything overnight and again this afternoon.

It's madness. Some roads have been closed and I don't think the ferries are running again. Sigh.

needastrongone · 16/09/2017 18:50

Enjoy the M&S sandwiches Laska, DH often does this when he travels as he gets fed up of eating alone in hotel restaurants.

I don't know about human nails but ponies definitely slow down in winter. In summer we need the farrier every 6 weeks, in winter more like 8.

Re dog walkers, yeah that's a good point. I have to go out with the dogs, twice a day, every day. Rain, sun, hail, snow, fog, ice, whatever. It's not an option so I don't think about it, obviously I prefer sunshine and dry! Then I am out 5 times a week running too. But I don't struggle with light issues either. DSil has serious MH issues, and getting a dog 2 years ago has been amazing for her. She used a light box prior to the dog I think.

Back from the beer festival. I've left DH there getting pissed with all the folk from the village that we know. I'm cooking tea for DD and me and then will take her to the party and pick up. Friends have invited me for a quick drink too.

JO creamy mustard chicken for tea from his new book. 5 ingredients, so simple, love it. Ready in 20 minutes too. Was really lovely.

CollieBobs · 16/09/2017 18:54

Just spent £14 in B&M on a cosy tartan blanket, pain relief, wheat bag & tissues

WreckTangled · 16/09/2017 18:56

Oh no collie sounds like you need a hug! FlowersCakeBrew

needastrongone · 16/09/2017 18:57

Oh Collie, take care. xx

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/09/2017 19:13

I don't think the ferries are running again.

I'd be more surprised if they actually were. Grin

Have eventually got round to cooking the roasted butternut squash risotto. It might have come in at under £1 for the ingredients, but I'm it's a bit heavy in the electric I suspect. Should have checked the meter before I started just to see.

Hope you're OK Collie.

WreckTangled · 16/09/2017 19:15

Fluffy can you link me to the matched betting thread please? I think I'm going to give it a go

Loveabaconsandwich · 16/09/2017 19:16

£65 something in Tesco
£30 Rainbows subs for the term

Currently emailing the eBay seller of the dodgy DVD, who tells me he only uses genuine suppliers

Somehow I managed to apply for tax free childcare instead of 30 free hours childcare. Sorted out cancelling the tax free account on the phone yesterday, applied for the 30 hours to be told I am illegible because my DC was on the form more than once Hmm I filled in an online form. Now I have to write a letter for a mandatory review . We are definitely elligible unless I quit work but I won't claim it if I quit!

CollieBobs · 16/09/2017 19:40

I'm OK thanks guys! I can see how my shopping list in B&M looks quite sad. All of my arthritic aches and pains and Raynaud's have flared up today and the best way to manage it is with warmth. I can't really take many anti inflammatories because Naproxen gave me an awful stomach ulcer last year.
I can take paracetamol but it only takes the edge off. So ineffective compared to NSAIDs (for obvious reasons).

I did have a wheat bag but it exploded after years of frequent use. And the cat claimed the blanket. Grin

We desperately need a new mattress though but that's going to cost approx £600 (well, that's the price of the comfiest mattress in Dreams).

I also want to try Matched Betting but I am worried it won't work. DH is up for it if I am though. Suppose it could potentially pay for a new mattress.. Do I need a laptop / PC for it? Blush

WreckTangled · 16/09/2017 19:46

Collie I keep reading about it but I'm still confused! Have you heard of arcoxia? It's a nsaid which isn't harsh on the stomach like others I wonder if you could use that?

CollieBobs · 16/09/2017 19:59

wreck glad it's not just me that's discombobulated about matched Betting Grin we'll figure it out! Haha.

Never ever heard of Arcoxia but I'll ask my GP the next time I see him. I love him thanks for the tip! Flowers

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 20:05

I thought I understood matched betting. But apparently don't. Haha! Must read up on it again.

Just watched only connect from last night. I aced that. I am a clever face.

Now waiting for dh to finish skyping mil so we can watch the crystal maze. Yippee.

Catface is in my spot on the couch im sat on the floor - she's leaving on dh and we don't want to disturb her. Oddly I'm actually comfier sat in the floor than I was on the couch....
