Thanks Mammy Yes, I'll try asking then.

yumyumpoppycat · 16/09/2017 10:21

Mammy I was reading about the nails and scrolled back to look and they really are amazing!

Em your breakfast sounds AMAZING is it a chain or independent?

So last week I had one bought lunch which I shared with dp as we work together - overall I am pretty pleased! Also bought 3 'in the gods' tickets for the nutcracker for myself, mum and dsis over xmas hol. We will prob do something else as well with dp and the dc - I love Christmas so very hard to be frugal, at least getting started early spreads the cost a bit.

Sunny is it anxiety making your tummy funny pre school run. I get that a bit before driving.

yumyumpoppycat · 16/09/2017 10:23

Nutcracker was £30 for all 3 of us - fingers crossed the views not too terrible!

LonelyOversharer · 16/09/2017 10:25

sunny you must ask! You've looked after all thier pets over the summer, so a wee favour returned, and you're only asking for backup. If I put back up plans in place, the thing never happens - so if I ask mum to cover the school run as I've the dentist, I'll always be back in good time. If I don't ask I can guarantee I'll be late. Sod's law.

Cagliostro · 16/09/2017 10:29

Lonely euwwwww 😷😱

Sunny I bet the neighbours would love to help out.

As another option if they can't do it, does the school have a breakfast club? I wonder if you paid for those days, would it give you the option of dropping him off over a 1hr period (I think ours opened at 7.30, school started 8.30 and if you paid the full hour you could drop off any time within that). I'm just pondering if you could then think at say 7.45 I feel fine so let's go now, and then you know he's safely in school and if you feel poorly later then it's not going to cause a problem. And even if you don't end up using the time, it shouldn't be too much money (and it benefits the school anyway).

I sooooo CBA to go out today it's going to be a long and tiring day and just UGH.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2017 10:46

Someone's backed into my front wing & dented it. It's got dust over it so it must've been weeks ago. Dh has only just noticed.

It goes back in November.

Last year a woman reversed into my last car the day before they came to pick it up.

Mammy I don't understand the question Blush

SnugglySnerd · 16/09/2017 11:26

I get it Sunny. I get stressed if dh isn't here to help with bath and bedtime!

Back from mil's to wet Birmingham and very much missing the extra pair of hands. Also considering putting the heating on. House seems really cold. I might put it on for an hour this evening to get upstairs wa before kids' baths.

Making soup. Love soup.

LonelyOversharer · 16/09/2017 11:29

fluffy thats sod's law too.

I am writing my shopping list. I have written "cookie press" on it. Do I need such a device?? I've written it by fish food, and will detour via The Range.

CollieBobs · 16/09/2017 11:44

Fluffy that's bloody typical :(

£10 on pasties.
We also need new door trim / threshold things for downstairs x 3. Wilko have some at £7ish each.
And £10 on Doom Bar ale

WreckTangled · 16/09/2017 11:48

£43 Tesco. Would have been cheaper in Lidl but Lidl is twice as far and no scan as you shop so I wouldn't be able to keep track of what I was spending.

Meal plan:

Lasagne
Chicken and chorizo casserole
Beef casserole
Chilli and jackets
Soup and cheese toasties
Tomato pasta
Pizza

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 12:16

£13.50 breakfast in the end. yumyum it's an independent place actually a restaurant which does breakfast only on a weekend.

I had: "American breakfast" (two fried eggs, sausages bacon pancakes with maple syrup) decaf filter coffee, a fresh orange juice, followed by granary toast, croissants and pain choc (all home made). Mmm. With home made jam and marmalade. Mmm.

Friend had brioche french toast, eggs bacon and sausages. Mmm. We shared the toast and pastries. We sat outside under the cover. It's warm but raining. We could see the sea. Yay!

Dh wanted to go into town but it's raining. So we'll go later.

Grim Lonely.

Bugger Fluffy Angry

Sunny I wonder if you could possibly get your DS to help with the additional practicalities if he needs attention? So, he could help get the clothes out for the next day, pack the school bag, fold some washing, stack the dishwasher? Unless he does this anyway of course. They are not bad habits to introduce anyway.

I get the anxiety of the unknown. I actually got the GP to prescribe beta blockers for the first time I drove the horse box. Funnily enough, it was the anticipation of the reality than the reality itself that was worse. I had worried myself stupid over nothing, or very little. Sleepless nights and all that jazz for no reason.

Anyway, just a thought.

DH has fixed the dishwasher, I think I could have done it, but he had the tool box with him and we had to pull it right out, which I would have struggled with as it's integrated.

needastrongone · 16/09/2017 12:32

To be fair Snuggly, you've got 3 to cope with, that would stress me out too!! My friend who had 3 in 15 months just coped with it and her DH worked away Monday to Friday - I would have been on my knees or rocking in a corner Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2017 12:40

When our dw blocked we spent all day trying to find it in the pipes & its a massive beast of a machine rammed tight in the space so it took ages lowering & inching it out. Then I realised a 75c wash would melt a fat blockage.

I was not popular that day I can tell you.

I frequently can't sleep on Sunday nights for work anxiety.

needastrongone · 16/09/2017 12:45

That's interesting re the 75 degree wash. Our DW wasn't allowing any water through at all, but I'll bare that in mind.

I didn't know that re work anxiety, poor you. Not good. X

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2017 12:46

www.savethestudent.org/make-money/money-making-task-apps-that-pay-out-instantly.html Looks interesting.

SunnyLikeThursday · 16/09/2017 13:04

I think asking the neighbours is the good option tbh. I will try that.

It's burnout from the baby years that's wrong with me, and it is a million miles better than it was three years ago, but still an issue sometimes. I definitely think that having backup organised will help. Thanks!

ChristmasSeacow · 16/09/2017 14:25

I am sure they'd be happy to help Sunny, most people would be. I asked a friend to sit with DS for half an hour last week when I had to take DD for jabs (he would have been very stressed) and the hard part was definitely asking. I very rarely ask for help but my friend was so happy to be useful!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/09/2017 14:56

Hi all, no advice re absent husbands really Wink I guess its just what you get used to, tbf when dd was younger I would have def struggled without my mums support. No idea how single parents manage with no family support at all. I also get the dodgy stomach for no reason at the most inconvenient times as well, have had to run into dds school before now and use their loos Blush

Just back from town, dd had riding this morning the lady who runs it is now saying she might keep that lesson on now Confused so will see how that goes I guess.

Popped to town, my mum picked dd up some more uniform stuff which was kind, I spent £14 in Poundland on food and cleaning stuff.

Also went to Pets at Home, girl cats meds were £10 and had to get more hamster food as dd noticed the stuff we had was full of weevils will store it a bit more securely now.

Plan this afternoon is to mow the lawn and tidy up a bit.

LonelyOversharer · 16/09/2017 15:32

Ok, so I own a cookie press, but, but, it was super reduced! Proper mason & cash, down to £2.49!! Will post results later. Spent £30 in all, the rest was fish food.

£60 lidl, £20 tesco, mostly for the race. Filled the big car up £60, but used the shop's card. I was just impressed I remembered the pin number. Half an hour until home time.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2017 15:49

I've registered with Field Agent, it seems to be £5 per survey/photo of a product/aisle then a further £5 for a video after. I think.

Cookie press sounds a bargain.

I made £9 mb yesterday & should get £8 today.

ememem84 · 16/09/2017 15:53

£7 something in boots on paracetamols fibre drinks and pant liners. Yay!

We picked up the new bit of the pram. So now have an old seat bit to get rid of. Will try and sell online.

Dh also wanted to look around the shops for clothes. An hour in town and I was almost ready to cry. So uncomfortable.

Come home am now all snuggled up on bed with my pillow and catface. She's enjoying the sun which is coming through the window. The rain held off thank goodness.

SunnyLikeThursday · 16/09/2017 16:00

When is your due date Em. It sounds as though you're very nearly at delivery time, regardless of when the expected date is. My ds engaged only a couple of days before he was born.

WreckTangled · 16/09/2017 16:00

Oh em I remember the pain! I almost cried popping into Sainsbury's once.

SunnyLikeThursday · 16/09/2017 16:11

I've been doing some fun experiments with light and realising that even a brightly lit room indoors can actually be incredibly dark. I just wondered about it as I know I feel so much better in summer. So I built a light meter from electronics parts this summer to have a look at what's going on and it's very interesting to me.

It's turns out that in summer the sunlight outside can be as bright as 50,000+ lux or more, whereas today it's only 1900 lux outside. Shockingly though, sitting at my computer, my eyes are only getting 7 lux and the room feels perfectly nice and bright because my eyes are adjusted to it. No wonder I'm a bit light deprived. need more windows
