Woohoo indeed 😊

100yearsdotcom · 20/09/2017 21:32

Mammy thanks so much for the advice. It's a funny one cos dh is actually great about doing his share does more than me at the moment so it's more me seeing things that aren't to my standards and it bugging me. I'm a bit stuck at the moment as I'm still struggling with the aftermath of birth injuries and my energy levels are low and completely focused on DD - and tbf dh encourages me to just spend time on her and doesn't expect anything of me. I feel like it's a luxury but I totally get what you're saying and would love to feel a bit more relaxed about the state of the house!

SunnyLikeThursday · 20/09/2017 21:43

Thanks fluffy. Smile

Cagliostro · 20/09/2017 22:04

Spends - £8 lunch
£10 needle thingies and test strips. Not pleased about that as I had to buy some because the prescription still wasn't ready 😡
Then had an epic wobbly episode and had to sit on a chair in the pharmacy for ages. TBH I am starting to think this is just par for the course now and I just have to accept it for the rest of the pregnancy. 🤔

needastrongone · 20/09/2017 22:07

Oh I missed that you were running Beavers sunny, bloody well done. Tell me to run 50 miles, no problem - run a pack of Beavers - quivering wreck. That to me takes actual guts! Well done.

Sorry re TU, don't mean to be rude, ours is tiny so we probs get a equally tiny selection of clothes.

Had a good run tonight with the club, it's hard to chat when you're running along so we are meeting for a curry Friday night!

Cagliostro · 20/09/2017 22:14

That's amazing sunny I could never do something like that! ⭐️

SunnyLikeThursday · 20/09/2017 22:40

Thanks for the encouragement about the Beavers. It's a very nice place to be. It's like being invited to a really great party every week, without having to be cool enough to be invited, and getting a rule book and clothing list up front so no sophisticated social nouse is required. What more could a person ask for? Smile

It turns out that the leaders also get badges, which is rather exciting. You also wouldn't believe how much free training they give on how to safely look after children. If I'd known I'd have signed up years ago.

yumyumpoppycat · 20/09/2017 23:19

Sunny Grin it sounds like the Beavers are lucky to have you Star
That's annoying re prescription Cag Angry

argh I am not doing well with this- I have been on Reasties thread and bought another beauty set. www.hotukdeals.com/deals/tili-beauty-box-fifth-edition-15-with-five4u-discount-code-qvc-2793765 in my defence I need eye make up remover. Tbh I prob shouldn't have bought this I am realising as I type. Sigh, maybe I will gift it to someone once I have pinched the eye make up remover

ChristmasSeacow · 21/09/2017 00:04

Great that you and Beavers are so good for each other Sunny. How is your DS enjoying it?

100 I am having a similar experience with being a bit stressed about the state of the house. I get hardly anything done in a day with baby DD glued to me... it's all I can do to keep up with the laundry, as even when I am being a slob not too fussy we each get through at least a couple of sets of clothes a day due to the reflux. It's important to mentally lower one's standards I reckon... easier said than done. But this phase will not last forever. I too have a DH who helps as much as he can and importantly does not criticise. I should remember to appreciate that about him more. He's a good egg, even though he couldn't boil one to save his life.

Here's hoping for a better night all round Snuggly! 💤

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/09/2017 06:27

Well done on beavers sunny.

I know how a messy house can get your down but your are doing a fab job ladies.

Annoying about the prescription cag.

WreckTangled · 21/09/2017 07:17

Well done on the beavers sunny love that you get badges

Cag that's really shit. Whose fault is it that it wasn't ready? I would have been phoning the gp and telling them to send it through there and then although I know the system so it's easy for me to say.

I have to go to breastfeeding training today ConfusedGrin

I think I'm just not part of their little gang although I was for a bit. Meh.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/09/2017 07:51

Need Which companies doing your dw repair?.

CollieBobs · 21/09/2017 07:54

Just had to email Quidco as they're being dodgy again! Declining tracked cashback worth £30

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/09/2017 07:57

They did that to mil, we both saw the offer & knew we were right, but they paid out a smaller amount.

Tcb hasn't done that to me.

ememem84 · 21/09/2017 08:14

Today should be a nsd. I'm not planning on going anywhere. Today's plans are: chill in bed with tea and toast, long shower (with body scrub AND body brush - been reading about self care. It's important y'all), choose nice comfy outfif, put load of washing on, start sorting baby's room/spare room.

I may drive to post office to pick up the cot mattress. Or may send dh later on.

Dinner tonight is J.O's green pasta from the new book. I don't have the new book yet but am assured that someone Will be buying it for me for my birthday. I've watched every episode and have wanted to eat everything. That's rare for me. Usually some stuff I don't fancy buy this time..mmm.

Payday today too. Last "big/normal" payday until 21 may. The next few months will be lower.

CollieBobs · 21/09/2017 08:29

fluffy it's so annoying. I chose a specific retailer for the cashback offer. Its just damn cheeky isnt it. Have started using TCB since last week

Em I was looking at body brushes yesterday! I would love one

Today's spends:
£3.55 bus & maybe £1 on a gingerbread man

SnugglySnerd · 21/09/2017 08:40

That's amazing Sunny. Well done you!

Seacow how on earth do you have the energy for making the solar system out of fondant?? I would love to see a pic! Hope you had a better night? I only got up once last night when DD2 was screeching. I picked her and she did this massive burp. DH was dozing in bed and he couldn't stop laughing. Anyway she slept well after that so it had obviously been bothering her.

Not much planned for today. Weather forecast is shocking so might use the day to sort stuff for charity shop/tip/loft.

Off to Sainsbury's later to try and get DD's winter coat in 25% off. Going to do the weekly shop at the same time as I can't be bothered to go to Aldi too even though that would probably be cheaper.

ememem84 · 21/09/2017 08:42

collie I bought mine years ago and have maybe used it a handful of times.usually if just hangs on the back of the bathroom door. I feel a bit of an idiot brushing my skin before a shower. It's meant to do wonders for circulation etc.

Catface has gone bonkers. She was on bed with me pouncing the duvet/my feet/dh's pjs. She fell off and has pounced everything on the bedroom floor. She's now hiding. she is the best hider

yumyum I'm on the beauty product hoarders thread and am having to resist a beauty advent calendar. Thankfully a lot don't deliver to me here. But...oh the enabling.

If you're after eye make up remover both Clinique and clarins have deals at present I believe. The usual buy 2 things and get 4 travel sizes free. Last time i did it I got two moisturisers (day and night - I did need these as was running out) and 4 eye make up removers from clarins.

Account balances:

My ac: £756
Joint ac: £983
Penny ac: £67.98

Still frugaleering into Autumn.....
ememem84 · 21/09/2017 08:43

Oh and about £19 in cash in my purse.

100yearsdotcom · 21/09/2017 08:47

seacow we're the same with clothes/reflux and it gets me down. DD is actually worse since we started weaning too which is not fun. Your good egg comment actually made me lol! Our dh's are very similar! :)
Hope you and snuggly have had better nights.

Wreck that is poo. I've been struggling with 'friends' recently and have concluded that I don't know why I put myself through it ! (((Hugs)))

Gold star sunny!

Hope thinks start improving for you soon collie

cag if the pharmacy had the needles in stock but not ordered in for prescription surely they should reimburse your cost as it sounds like they are at fault? Sorry you're getting such wearing symptoms xxxx

LonelyOversharer · 21/09/2017 09:07

Yes cag do do claim it back. You have the maternity excemption card. It's beyond shit you had to buy them.

Have so much of last weeks work to do. Just got to dig in today and get it done. Pouring with rain again, which helps. But have to loop home to pick up a forgotten flute. Which will waste nearly an hour.

My new tu skinnies are really nice. They're basically jeggings with a button and zip. High waist too so all my poor dead skin tucks in! I am going back to buy all some different colours while the offer is on. Plus I forgot ds' pants.

Yy seacow to a pic of the cake. Have never tried planets. But have been tempted by the hemisphere pans in lakeland more than once

SunnyLikeThursday · 21/09/2017 09:32

Christmas My ds is absolutely loving Beavers. It's almost the opposite of the school system in that in Beavers they take account of a child's specific needs without any need for diagnosis or anything. They just look at the child and say "this child needs extra help, we should give him extra help". There is blanket permission for any parent to stay and help their child for as long as they or the child feels that it is needed. Also if children have learning disability of any kind, then the badge requirements can be lowered so that the child can pass in their own way.

It's like in the Scout association the whole point is to build the child up and give them confidence and friends and a sense of their own success, regardless of what physical limitations may be holding them back. My Beavers Leader keeps saying "Remember, they're coming here to get away from the stress of school, lets keep it light."

I really feel that it's the opposite of the school system where the idea seems to be to drive the kids until they break and then try to figure out what the weak point in the child is and then drive them some more.

The Scout system is also great for the grownups, because there's absolutely reams of training material available free online that we can read at any time when we want to do a bit of self-improvement. There are also very experienced adults around who are really willing to pass on skills in dealing with kids and all of their various difficulties. For bonus fun, these more experienced adults receive free training from the scout association in how to mentor new leaders and parents helpers, so it all is really pretty excellent all round.

The flip side is that we have to look after 25 tiny children and make sure they don't get hurt or scared or lost, and that is a very serious job. Last night we were concentrating so hard on not losing any kids that we accidentally lost three adults who got trapped between two card access doors. Being scouts, they managed to escape.

needastrongone · 21/09/2017 09:52

Great post Sunny. DS has attended the SA since Beavers and it has been such a positive experience for him. The tireless dedication of the leaders is amazing, I've such admiration for me. We only did DofE Gold with school because in fairness, it was much more organised, with set dates for expeditions etc and we needed to get it done before his final year at school, uni applications, exams, stress etc.

I'm very sorry that the school system isn't working so well for you. That's such a shame. I'm lucky, maybe my DC just 'fit the generic bill' (whatever that is!) more easily so the whole system has worked for us, for all it's flaws. Or maybe it's school specific, as we've had the better secondary experience for sending them to a high school out of catchment and away from a lot of their friends, as hard as that was at the time. Weird suggestion, but it's not because of where the school is possibly, given the obvious connection with learning? Ever thought about changing? That's a big step obviously.

Fluffy - It's repaircare.co.uk. Nationwide site that obviously uses local firms to contract out to. Don't worry, if I don't get communication from a manager I will be kicking off a big fuss. I've allocated a hour tomorrow morning to write the letter of complaint anyway. And Facebook etc.

Today is an admin morning, bit of self care as per Em (agree totally) and some WFH I need to do i.e pay everybody!

Frugally paid my small Next balance (just some joggers) with a gift card I found, I've also found a £15 Amazon voucher to help towards some trainers, 2 x £10 M&S gift cards and a JL voucher.

NOT LOOKING AT THE REASTIE THREAD NO NO NO !!!

needastrongone · 21/09/2017 09:54

Actually - looking at the reviews I ought to have been more careful and I'm annoyed at myself now. DH is promising to be home when the come tomorrow afternoon, he won't be.....!

SnugglySnerd · 21/09/2017 09:56

Aaaaagh the cat is driving me mad! He has not stopped meowing since Tuesday night. He does it in the night and all day. I don't know what is wrong. I've fed him a lot! He has fresh litter and water. I've let him in and out many many times. I even put the heating on in case he was cold. This is a new thing. I have no idea what else to do with him. He is currently sitting on my lap and is content but I have things to do.

Sorry that is completely irrelevant but I needed to moan!
