Oh I LOVE the quiet. But I don't like hearing the neighbours. But they aren't noisy it's just flanking noise and footsteps. Not their fault at all! So I like to drown it out and I sometimes feel lonely in the house as it's big (and echoey!).

So weird! I reckon as soon as I get a job I'll no longer feel lonely and then I'll appreciate the peace & hopefully won't give a hoot about the flanking noise.

wreck I experienced similar recently. It sucks :(

Made a den for DS and the cat is inside sleeping and snoring away.

Got turned down for a job today :(

I used to use Benetint when I lived in London!! Loved it!

mammymammyIRL · 20/09/2017 17:06

Aww wreck I'm sorry to hear that, is it something you could bring up with them to ask why or just silently feel sad about and not know?
Could it be the case that they thought you couldn't afford it? Or would they know that things are tight for you?

collie sounds like you're finding it tough at the moment. I relish the quietness of home but that might be because work is the opposite. Love being able to hear sounds of passing cars or lowing of cows or chirping of birds occasionally. I know you said ye couldn't have another child but would you consider doing some childcare to have children in the house?

WreckTangled · 20/09/2017 17:08

I expect I didn't even cross their minds

CollieBobs · 20/09/2017 17:15

wreck hugs! You crossed my mind several times whilst I wasn't on the thread. It ain't the same but you're definitely not invisible SmileFlowers (hopefully that didn't sound weird!)

mammy see I used to be like that and I even loved living in flats! In fact when we hear sirens nearby we always smile and remember living in london. I think it's probably more loneliness and anxiety. I'll have a think about childcare. Good idea! Thanks mammy x

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/09/2017 17:24

Wreck That's women for you Sad we're not very inclusive, men tend to be more invite the world.

Collie At least your ndn are in when the footsteps start, we consoled ourselves it was ndn making all the noises until it happened regularly when they were all out. The cat got thrown off our bed with force while he was asleep one morning. I'm always glad Dh saw it too, otherwise no one would believe me. I'm sorry about the job. A job will come along & there's always the matched betting threads in the meantime.

Need I only buy jeggings there, & night stuff for Dh.

NSD. Waitrose order done, £7.50 out of food budget left for stuff that's way cheaper in Aldi.

Making laundry gloop & buying a huge sack of spuds from the farm has really helped my budget. I'm making fabric softener soon

yumyumpoppycat · 20/09/2017 17:25

Wreck I have had that happen I always take things like that to heart, feel like I am being silly but can't help it. I was uninvited from a friend's big 0 birthday party a few years ago because I was accidentally included in a group text, I replied saying oh yes I would love to go great then a week or so later had a cringey phonecall Blush we should have virtual drinks on here!

SnugglySnerd · 20/09/2017 17:29

How rubbish of them Wreck.

Seacow your night sounds just as bad as mine if not worse. I did get 90 mins sleep between DD2 falling asleep at 4am and ds waking up at 5.30!

We don't get squirrels in our garden. We get them in the area but not here. Would love to have red squirrels though Laska.

I fantasise about a quiet house btw!

ChristmasSeacow · 20/09/2017 18:02

Quiet house... lush. Though I usually have R4 on when I am 'doing'.

Wreck it's not silly at all. Friendships matter and if you ever have reason to feel let down it hurts Flowers

Snuggly I think you did worse than me! I was a bit sweary about it when I got up but once up after a bad night I find i just get on with the day. Albeit somewhat slowly. I am such a sucker for her smiles, (almost) all is forgiven.

Need I dont really get on with Tu adult clothes either but their baby stuff is great.

Tonight I wil be making the solar system out of fondant icing.

WreckTangled · 20/09/2017 18:02

Thanks everyone.

yumyum yes I'm the same overthink everything and convinced no one likes me

Wink
ememem84 · 20/09/2017 18:03

mammy yes - still doing penny saving. Up about £67 now for this year. Last year I think I had £120+ at 31 December. Yay!

fluffy oooh. Dominoes. Yum. not enabling at all

Nsd. Went for a nice walk with dm and her friend. Strolled around the lanes for about an hour. Then had a cup of tea. Yay!

Now home watching dexter and waiting for dh to get home from work.

needastrongone · 20/09/2017 18:23

Flowers for wrecked. Whether it was deliberate or not, it was bloody thoughtless. Things like that upset me too, but I'm better now sticking with the friends that would never do this in the first place, I'm actually worse if it happens to DD. Poor you.

fluffy/seacow, I used to buy a lot from the kids clothes Sainsbury's I recall and it being great quality and value. The price of the sleepwear was too much compared to Primark, was thinking I would get some stuff for DD for Christmas. I do like the coat!

Spends

  • £145 Sainsbury's but food shop was about £80
  • £16 M&S
needastrongone · 20/09/2017 18:24

Weirdly, I prefer quiet and stillness and just the sound of nature on my dog walks and can't run to music!

needastrongone · 20/09/2017 18:26

Prefer almond milk lonely, even if it doesn't taste of marzipan Smile

CollieBobs · 20/09/2017 19:42

Have been baking. I have used up ingredients we had and made

  1. lemon mascarpone cake
  2. normal flapjacks
  3. millies style cookies

And we also had leftover veg roasted in garlic & paprika, with rice and tomato / basil cod for tea.

Now the fridge is bare but we have enough food until the shop comes. Really pleased I didn't waste much food this week.

Have also made houmous Smile

ememem84 · 20/09/2017 19:48

I didn't win the top on eBay. Probably for the best. I didn't really need it.

I'm going to sleep soooo well tonight. Loads of fresh air. Sunshine. Lovely.

Spag Bol for dinner. Yummo.

LonelyOversharer · 20/09/2017 20:16

Bailed. Chippy tea £14 for 6 of us, so much cheaper than Maccy d's. Crap though as I had chicked defrosted, but cba cooking. Will have to roast it tonight or it will go iver.

need no wonder the coat didn't fit at a 10! I buy an 8 and am loads bigger than you! They have size 6 in our big one. I got skinny jeans today, will see how they go on. Kids clothes are brilliant, like Morrisons. But misses the teen gap. I could buy nothing for dd1 bar socks and jammies. Adult clothes way too old, kids clothes far too small!

I can't do quiet. After years of engine noise/ac at sea my ears ring in silence. I realise this is not good! Always have the telly on, or music, and have 2 fish tanks that chuntle in the living room! The biorb is the loudest, it buzzes, we have 4 fancy goldfish in it, very cheap to run as it's just a tiny air pump and two led's.

Am sad for you wreck even if it was thoughtless, still crap. This is the sort of nonsense that always happens to me too.

WreckTangled · 20/09/2017 20:21

Lonely your chippy tea is a bargain.

I've got wrinkles 😭 just noticed them on my forehead. Am I too young for Botox? I'm definitely too poor but never mind that...

CollieBobs · 20/09/2017 20:30

lonely I was looking at the biorb just now! Sounds ideal

Cagliostro · 20/09/2017 20:32

DS got his tae kwon do suit today. All the cute 😍 He's really settling into the class too, doing really well ⭐️

DD has said she isn't enjoying acro. It's a shame but as it means being there 2 hours, and an extra £30 a month, I'm not complaining! She loves the actual gym class that she does beforehand.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/09/2017 20:32

Ah wreck that is thoughtless of them. Their loss.
Collie your are on a bit of a downer at the minute. I take or leave noise depending on my mood.
I got the Tesco jeans from swears by. They are great.
I don't get on do much with the adult you clothes. YY to kids.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/09/2017 20:33

I remember all of those magazines old. Used to love them when I could afford them.

ememem84 · 20/09/2017 20:33

wreck Eugh sorry that happened to you. Women are mean.

CollieBobs · 20/09/2017 21:05

We've just bought the Simba mattress. If we don't like it we can send it back. Has a 10 year guarantee etc etc. Paid for using savings but will set up a monthly direct debit to pay ourselves back.
Excited!! And feeling uneasy about seeing the money leave my savings account. Tis only temporary Smile

SunnyLikeThursday · 20/09/2017 21:07

I did my Beaver thing tonight and the Beavers heard me and did stuff and I remembered to smile. Woohoo!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 20/09/2017 21:13

Wreck that is rubbish, even if they thought you couldn't afford it they should still have invited you. Women are terrible for things like that, I have had it happen to me in the past and its hard not to get upset by it.

Collie would training to be a childminder be an option? Get to work for yourself at home? Amazing baking, very industrious Halo

I like absolute silence at night, any noise really agitates me!! During the day I quite like some back ground noise Grin

I wear a lot of TU clothes, I like their jeggings and some of the tops, used to get a lot of dds clothes there as well but not so much now.

Have just eaten a big bag of malteasers Blush I am such a chocoholic.
