Kidstart is fine. Not the highest paying but they have shops the others don't

Cagliostro · 18/09/2017 09:09

Thanks I will have a look then :) spending on there will be even bigger because of baby stuff and Christmas.

Oh no collie poor DS :(

Feeling wobbly this morning, level was 3.9, that's my lowest

LonelyOversharer · 18/09/2017 09:30

Poor ds collie how old is he? Dd2 has viral trigger asthma, this time of year makes me so nervy. She's 11 and has recently become very responsible in taking her inhalers, before it was us reminding her all the time.

Asked the dc about Christmas, dd3 wants a new branch for her snakes viv! Not much help there then.

At least you haven't long to go cag do take it easy though.

Hope you're still in bed em my advice for your maternity leave before ds, sleep, rest, snooze, feed catface, repeat.

Laska5772 · 18/09/2017 09:44

Em our Emily (dsd) is 30 next year Shock..eeek she was just 5 when i first met her....
Sorry to hear about DS Collie

ememem84 · 18/09/2017 09:44

lonely yep. Still here. Only left bed for tea toast and some fruit for breakfast. Oh and to take some chicken soup out of the freezer for lunch.

Catface started pouncing me. So she's been banished back to her under bed lair. The rule here is no pouncing mummy. Pounce dh all you want. But no pouncing mummy.

May have ventured onto eBay. And may have bid £8 for a top from joules.

Have made a list of the post baby clothes I want to buy (not all at once but over the course of the next few months.

And have made a list of things I need to do:

Pay house insurance - must actually do this today as no idea when it runs out - £90 ish paperwork is in a pile in the other room
Renew driving licence £45 - runs out in November but should get it done sooner rather than later and I can do it online.
Fill in separate maternity leave form - to start claiming benefit - did the first one but they need a second one after I've finished work for some reason.

Tomorrow will be my errands day. Have my 38 week appointment in the morning then can swing by social security dept to drop off form for mat leave. Then to post office to pick up things. Then shops for food once I've meal planned.

CollieBobs · 18/09/2017 09:44

He's 4 lonely it's just absolutely bloody typical that he saw the consultant only a week ago.

Weather forecast was dry and sunny but the clouds came & it went dark and has rained ever since! Ha!

Watching Cars 1 for the 22nd time in 7 days. Grin

Car insurance is up for renewal. Last year it went up despite no claims and we tried every possible way to lower it but couldn't so hopefully we can find a better deal this year

Laska5772 · 18/09/2017 09:56

Collie i know what you mean about spending savings (esp big stuff like new sofas-still Shock at what we spent so glibly yesterday.. but then that is what savings are for, eh?
I have seperate accoints in my YNAB budget. So there is a Christmas fund and i save 45 a month into that and I also run a £1 a day fund.. so each month i put £30/ 31 in that.
Its good to see it mount up .i consider that my money though and at the end of the year it goes into my 'F- off ' fund! ( thats F off from work - not from DH!! .( well so far anyway . Grin)

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2017 10:03

My cat right now. It used to be my fleece blanket for the sofa but it got claimed.

Still no heated throws in Aldi/lidl Angry

Collie Go to a chemist (not boots their shit for this sort of thing) & buy Friars balsam. Put it in an inhalation cup and let him inhale it a couple of times a day. It's brilliant at breaking up the mucus from chest infections.

It will stain the cup, boiling water & washing up liquid will remove it with a bit of elbow grease, or just keep that cup for fb.

Dh fail.

He left a basket of wet laundry (from yesterday) in the spare room. I've just gone to find jeans (thinking I was sensible yesterday and washing all of them along with all of my gigantic maternity pants) and they're all wet. Sigh. Joggers and teeny pants it is then.

CollieBobs · 18/09/2017 10:44

Confused what was deleted?

Friars balsam sounds brilliant!! We have a big local pharmacy they would definitely stock it! Thanks fluffy!

Topcashback are doing 9% cash back for Dreams! That's lucky.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2017 10:53

It was probably a test by the techs.

9% is brilliant. It'll be more if it pays out in Amazon vouchers.

ememem84 · 18/09/2017 11:08

Hospital bag done and changing bag prepped. Just need to wash baby boys first few outfits. Eeeek. Then I can plop a few of those in.

I've packed enough in my bag for a few days stay. If I need anything else dh can bring it for me. I was asked the other day whether I'd got my "going home" outfit sorted out. had no idea that was an actual thing (like the make up for after the birth. Or the photographer for after the birth Hmm - I know I can be a bit vain at times and like to look good but immediately after childbirth I imagine you're not meant to glow and look polished... right?!

Laska5772 · 18/09/2017 12:01

Ok which one of you posted the word 'Bum' on MN and got deleted? ( oh no !I've said Bum now.. Oh no , i've done it again!!!!Grin

Laska5772 · 18/09/2017 12:02

Em but if its good enough for Kate.. Wink

ememem84 · 18/09/2017 12:08

laksa I know - but she also had crowds of people waiting for her outside hospital. I doubt I'll have that...

I appear to have done all my "chores" for today.

Oh well. Time for Netflix and a sit down. And lunch. Dh made yummy roast chicken leftover soup last week and we threw pots of it in the freezer. He took one out for me for lunch today. Mmm. So soup and toast for lunch.

Taytocrisps · 18/09/2017 12:14

em I looked very far from glamorous in the days after DD's birth. I was wearing tracksuit bottoms for comfort and flip flops (don't laugh!) because for some strange reason, my feet got very swollen after the birth and I had a job getting my runners on.

I felt desperately sorry for Kate leaving hospital with all those cameras on her Sad.

Cagliostro · 18/09/2017 12:43

I'll be getting flip flops - plasticky ones from shoe zone I think - for hospital as I think it was a few threads back someone mentioned they are good for icky shared bathrooms when you need a shower!

Totally agree about getting all that admin stuff done before little boy arrives. I've got tax return on my to do list, I don't have to do it till January but it'll be a faff (knowing how stressy I get about such things).

Watching classic dungeons and dragons with the kids, still in the clothes I slept in and a dressing gown and duvet. I have cash in case two buses is too much, I'll get a taxi to my appt. I am so wobbly I had to sit down on the kitchen floor half way through loading the washing machine Hmm (DD finished it for me Star)

£100 on tomorrow's Tesco delivery, that's after spending a fair bit on top up shops. Made me realise how carby a lot of our meals generally are! No idea what DH ordered for the Caglets (will probably do their meals as soon as we get home from clubs, and I'll eat later, I am in no frame of mind to try persuading them to give up everything that I am) but I have lots of yummy things like nuts, sea bass and steak. WIN!!!

ememem84 · 18/09/2017 12:44

tayto oh I'm sure the glamour only happens in the movies and to celebs. I'm going for comfort over style. Bag has been packed with a hoody leggings and a comfy shirt dress for going home. And will throw in a pair of trackies and some pj bottoms too for hospital.

I do feel for Kate with the cameras etc but then, she chose that life. So how sorry do I feel really? That said, in interviews etc she does come across as relatively normal (albeit very privileged). I'm sure we'd be friends in real life

CollieBobs · 18/09/2017 13:16

Arghhh cag you just bought back memories of my post birth shower. Definitely recommend flip flops! I was in hospital for 2 days.

Having a shit day. Trying to force myself to have perspective on life. No hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tsunamis, no famine, no deadly spiders. We have a house & we have food, clothes & warmth etc etc. We're so fortunate and yet I feel like I'm having a bad day.

ememem84 · 18/09/2017 13:25

Take it easy cag you too collie

Flip flops. Great shout. Will chuck them into the bag too.

SnugglySnerd · 18/09/2017 14:04

I think it was me that mentioned flip flops ages ago. Cheapest ones possible as you will want to chuck them straight after the shower. Showers on maternity wards are grim.

I have just cut one of those ££ Flash Magic Sponge thingies into 3 so I don't have to replace so often. Why hasn't that occurred to me before? I've done it with cleaning sponges etc for years!

Martin Lewis was talking about Xmas on This Morning and has thrown me into a panic. Saving this year just hasn't happened because of mat leave and general baby chaos /purchases.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/09/2017 14:58

What's a Flash magic sponge Snuggly?

DD has just woken up hungry but we have to dash out on the school run - almost an hour round trip. Eek.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/09/2017 15:01

sea parcel posted

WreckTangled · 18/09/2017 16:07

£10 petrol.

Collie hope ds is ok has he started school?

Cag that's on the low side but great for a non diabetic. Obviously if you were feeling shaky it would have been worth eating a jelly baby.

The showers at our hospital have always been really clean. I always had a shower on the labour ward straight after that was obviously en suite so that was good.
