collie hate when people get my name wrong. Fil insists my name is Emma. It's not. But he calls me Emma. Dh and I have been together for 10 years so it'd be rude for me to correct him now. Everyone just refers to me as Em or Ems anyway. At least it's close to my real name though.

Made £25 on betfair this morning. Dh is appalled. He asked what my "system" was - I just said I kept bets small (to the minimum they could be) picked a random horsey, and went for it. still haven't grasped matched betting. These were just "normal" ones. But...beginners luck?

Have withdrawn the winnings though. Safely in my PayPal account. Phew.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2017 11:08

Yes, beginners luck.

Watch the videos & then do it.

WreckTangled · 17/09/2017 11:10

Hmm I'm getting the hang of it by playing around but not betting. I can't put any bets on at the moment though because I don't have any money for my liability.

SnugglySnerd · 17/09/2017 11:24

I could easily be persuaded to have another Em but there is no way dh would agree. Plus we're just starting to get some sleep again and I'm enjoying it!

Made scones to have with soup. Blue cheese and thyme. I was inspired by a National Trust place we went to that had a scone of the week. That could be a thing!

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 11:33

snuggly ah yes. Sleep. I hear that's a precious thing....! Haha!

Cagliostro · 17/09/2017 11:36

Oh I am a much bigger size than you em Blush but thank you for the thought! :o Thanks

Hope your run went well mammy

We are just hanging around the park before the caglets' runs, will get lunch after at Morrisons as I think there is something I can eat. DH is in a celebratory mood as despite recent injury he got his best time since he was 15 :o

Being here among these runners I am feeling extremely unfit Blush

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2017 11:48

I'll join you on the unfit bench Cag

Em You might be a wizz at mb & appall him even more.

Wreck Use this time to study all the guides on matched betting so you have a basic understanding when you have the funds. I would still get Dh paying for his phone. You'll be be paying for your kids phones soon enough.

I wonder why maternity clothes hire isn't a thing?.

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 12:10

fluffy I might be. I'm going to have a play with it tomorrow I think. If not - I'll stick to what I'm doing. The occasional bet on a random horsey every now and then.

Dh likes putting bets on (no gambling issues). He plays "last man standing" with his mates - so idea being you pick a premiership team playing each week. £20 goes in the pot at the beginning of the season. And if your team doesn't win that week you are out. Money remains until you are the last man standing. Each week you have to pick a different team. One of his mates keeps a spreadsheet...

He allows himself £20 a month for football bets/rugby bets etc. Any wins come straight out.

We also always bet on the super bowl - just small amounts. And the grand national.

I won £500 once by backing the 100-1 fave with dh's last fiver in his betfair account. He was appalled when I told him what I'd done...until it won...!!

They should hire out maternity clothes. They certainly aren't cheap. I did buy a lot second hand but still. I've listed the more worky dresses. Kept a couple of skirts and all the tops I'd bought. Those will be phased out after.

Although I'm determined to be in my regular skinnies fairly quickly after baby arrives I'm keeping the jeans. And leggings. Comfort over style is something I've been told. I have stretchy skirts (thanks hush) and while I know I'll still have a bit of a tummy it absolutely won't be as huge as it is now so these should fit if I'm feeling a bit more "dressy"

PinkLemonadeforme · 17/09/2017 12:15

Hello was on the thread ages ago and I deregged so cant remember my name back then.
Paying down debt atm and have been saving a fair whack each month as AF now and no silly spends.
Does the debt free thread still run ?
Hope its ok to join.
Been up early ,soup and bramble jelly madeBlush

WreckTangled · 17/09/2017 12:15

I left hospital in my pre baby skinnies both times. Being in scbu is stressful.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/09/2017 12:23

Hi pink

PinkLemonadeforme · 17/09/2017 12:30

Hi life Smile
NSD for me as found bag of very old jam sugar, was like a rock but used it anyway!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2017 12:49

Welcome Pink I think the debt free tread is in money somewhere, if you bumped it TalkInPeace would surely reply.

Life I'd pick a few mags & bin the rest or if you can't do that you'll have to store them, somehow. Magazines being bulky & difficult to stand up like books. How many are there?.

CollieBobs · 17/09/2017 13:08

My ex FIL used to call me Mel. My name isn't Mel either Blush I must be totes forgettable.

I once won £500 on a random free bet too! We used the money to relocate home after we got sick of living in London. It paid for van hire, fuel & first month of utility bills whilst we waited for jobs. It's so dreamy when you think about it.

Hope you're doing well mammy. Good luck my love Star

Who placed a bet on Hamilton? Good call Wink

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 13:26

Me!!! I betbfor him to podium. And also fastest lap. Disclaimer I know literally nothing about F1. Just know that the last time he fastest lapped. And at only £1.50 a bet with free money it's ok if I don't win.

Dh is doing a spreadsheet. This is to calculate my mat pay over the time off. So I know exactly how much I have to play with each week. We probably should have done this weeks ago.

But once I know I can then look to amend standing orders etc and lower my payment into our joint account and into my savings. There's only 1 I can't and it's a fixed amount for 12 months. £250 goes away each month and will pay out about 6% interest at the end. Luckily that will pay out in February next year. So I'll have additional cash then to play with if needed. Some will be allocated to my pension for next year. If I get a bonus for this year, it'll be paid in April/may so that'll help as well towards pension/baby/new house...

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/09/2017 14:12

Squidge up on the unfit bench

I would keep the mat clothes Em you will prob need them again in a year or two Wink I have a feeling me and you share the same name Grin I hate being called Emma though, winds me right up!!

Just back from taking dd swimming, well I didn't actually go swimming but I drove her down and hung around while she went swimming with her mates. Luckily it was an open wend at the leisure centre and the girls got to swim for free Shock frugal win. Spent £5.60 on snacks and drinks.

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 14:24

collie nooo. We're going to time the next one (if there is a next one) so it coincides with baby 1 being 3 (and us getting free nursery hours) and dh taking his sabbatical from work 5 months childcare done astronomical nursery fees means we'll have to think about it!

Re names. Same as an actress? Last name blunt?

Wheelycote · 17/09/2017 14:43

Painting the front door badly lol it's still an improvement Grin

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/09/2017 14:50

NSD

In frugal news, DD2 appears to have cracked potty training although she sometimes just stands there making noises but knows she needs to go. 3 puddles yesterday and none today so far. Typically I bought nappies yesterday too Smile

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 14:51

I've had a look and still have a lot of maternity clothes left which I may keep just in case I'm getting rid of the more worky ones.

Laska5772 · 17/09/2017 15:15

We also have an Em (ily) - lovely DSD . We've called her Embers or Em since she was little.. she doesnt seem to mind.

Ok so a spendy day as we ordered a G plan sofa and footstool from JL (££££ Shock but it is lover-ley !) We have to wait about 8 weeks for it though . Looked at lots of other lovely things in John lewis and resisted although we will be buying new cushions for the sofa and new light fittings for lounge the one DH liked was nearly £500 but thats NOT going to happen ..

We also had breakfast out in a scandi cafe £12.50.. We shared the Breakfast 'bord'.. three types of ryebread, and some crisp bread, Danish cheese , ham , smoked salmon and citrus fruit , and lingonberry jam and butter .. with bottomless coffee. Was lush!

back hom enow.. its dull and overcast here .. I am going to make courgette (aka marrows now) , pea and parmesan soup for lunches this week

Laska5772 · 17/09/2017 15:24

Unfit here too. its right, since my scooter accident and sciatica ive hardly done anything apart from swim.Blush

but I walked some today ,and half-ran half a mile for the ferry as I thought the free bus wouldnt get me there in time and didnt want to wait another hour (only to find as i was getting on board it turned up in time anyway). Then we had parked way out of Cowes to get free road parking as staying away overnight and I walked back up hill about a mile to get car.. its not much but a start back in right direction.. now sciatica is loads better Il make an effort to do more each evening. I do need to lose this extra tonnage.

ememem84 · 17/09/2017 15:34

Yay £9.75 for Hamilton getting fastest lap! And £3.56 for him winning. Woohoo.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/09/2017 15:39

£85 sainsbury and £47 Aldi, not all food though.
Apparently the 25% off tu is on again Tuesday.

WreckTangled · 17/09/2017 15:41

Oh is it life? Dd needs leggings as she's shot up.
