If it's not right wreck then you can't go for it

That's a big bill lonely . Any chance they will reduce it if you point out they haven't billed you for so long? Or is it a self employed teacher so that would be cheeky?

DP was saying he needed to ebay so will get him to try and sell the perfume. Could also do with selling a few other bits. I do like perfume but much prefer to choose it myself.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2017 20:40

They are both good reasons to say no as fluffy says. School is such a big thing as are arranging school holidays.

I'm dithering over the RH mammy. Is it worth it. I will have to buy some scales as I don't have any in the house. I don't want to get into being obsessed or dd to start being obsessed.

ememem84 · 01/09/2017 20:44

lonely if you've frozen gnocchi when you re heat do it in the oven. Otherwise it'll turn to mush in the pan. A most memorable dinner of mine was supposed to be gnocchi spring onions bacon peas and fresh pesto. Inrecooked gnocchi in water. Drained it and stirred everything in. Pesto bacon peas spring onion mash...

I personally think that life is too short for making gnocchi. Tesco sell bags of the stuff row just around £1. Just as nice.

girlie impromptu date night tonight. Drinks in my favourite bar (dh text me to meet him there and I was greeted by a glass of champagne! Yay) and then dinner at my fave Thai place. Beef pad Thai and a Diet Coke. Mmm. And some Thai crackers. Mmmm. Dh paid. He had a couple of beers and a Thai salad. Bar bill £20. Dinner bill £24.

I generally have two bottles of perfume on the go at any one time. Currently a jo Malone grapefruit one. And a bottle of tommy girl. I bought this ages ago in boots - used to wear it when I was waaaay younger and still loved the smell. Almost used up the jo Malone. Hoping dh doesn't buy me another one for my birthday ungrateful much... I want to choose a new smell!!

LonelyOversharer · 01/09/2017 20:54

em thanks! For gnocchi advice! It was yummy, and dp made it, I just cooked it. And for perfume notes, I'm always after trying new smells, and like girly ones as opposed to grown up lady night time perfume! I always have a squirt as I go through Debenhams, I love the startled looks of the make up counter ladies as I go past them with my bare old face!

Taytocrisps · 01/09/2017 20:58

Popped in to say Hello on the new thread and you're 8 pages in Shock.

I'll catch up properly tomorrow - too tired now.

DD has finished her first week at secondary and seems to be enjoying it. She had to be in extra early on Thursday morning for assembly but the year head never showed up! She was less than impressed Smile.

Planning a quiet (and cheap) weekend. I need to get some more bits for DD for school - more hard backed notebooks, a refill pad, cardboard folders etc. Seems like every day she needs something else.

ememem84 · 01/09/2017 21:12

tayto I used to love stationary shopping for school. My fave thing about going back. Every year I was allowed a new bag new pencil case etc. Love it.

I've cleared out a bit more of my desk today. will be more minimal once I go back lies it's all lies it'll be a mess within 2 weeks

Loveabaconsandwich · 01/09/2017 21:21

Ah maybe that's it lonely, I'm not ready for grown up lady perfumes yet. My other bottle at the moment is a Hugo woman one that came in a white box. It reminded me of when I went to uni as that's what I'd bought with my staff discount from Boots 16 years ago . My next bottle may be a tommy girl em , used to love it!

I also don't like flowery smelling candles and much prefer fruity ones.

Cagliostro · 01/09/2017 21:33

I still like my Lacoste Touch of Pink it's been my regular for about 10 years :o mum and DH pick it up for me if they see an offer.

No idea about Miele but I'd absolutely go for a heat pump condenser dryer, ours (Samsung) is the bees knees. So quick and efficient.

Will excitedly await reviews of the shark vacuum as I'm tempted and that is one of the many household items that need replacing in the near future.

No fridges coming up on FB etc, going to see if BHF furniture shop will take our number to phone us if one comes in. I'm sure they used to have plenty in but there haven't been any for a while. Really don't want to buy new when we won't be keeping it in the long run.

SnugglySnerd · 01/09/2017 21:37

I really want some new perfume. I suggested to dh that it would be a good gift for my forthcoming birthday but he was scared of getting it wrong. To be fair I don't know what sort I want so I don't see why he would know! I also think it smells different since pregnancy. Also I think newborns like the smell of their mum so I didn't want to mask it. I think they could probably cope by now though. They spent ages this afternoon feeling the grass in the garden and looking excited. I suppose everything is exciting when you are 6 months old. So cute!

ememem84 · 01/09/2017 22:08

cag Lacoste touch of pink! Oh memories. I'm in town tomorrow so may stop in boots and have a smell of that.

Mil bought me Jean Paul gautier female/femme a while back. I hated it.

Another I used to wear was Paul smith floral. Mmm.

Ooh and diesel red.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 01/09/2017 23:35

Hi! I hope it's ok to join you guys! Need to be kept on the frugal track as getting married in January totally unprepared hoping it will all fall into place so every spare penny needs to be saved!!

I have a notepad on my phone to log spends and a piece of paper with dates of money in/out of my account to track bills etc.

Currently have loads up on ebay for sale (with more to do over the coming days) today just spent £14 on ebay parcels being posted, £4 on tin foil and bin bags, 80p on lettuce and bananas in coop (had a 50p off voucher)

I don't wear perfume, never found one I liked... most make me sneeze or give me a headache! Bad enough with makeup, recently tried a different mascara and my eyes swelled up and itched for 2 days 😑

mammymammyIRL · 01/09/2017 23:48

Lifelong have you much to lose or do you want to look ripped? Digital scales aren't massive money tbh

Cagliostro · 02/09/2017 01:32

Welcome nocuts! :)

Awww snuggly that's so cute. Hang on though are you seriously saying the twins are six months? Already?! Shock

ChristmasSeacow · 02/09/2017 01:34

Ooh Em I have that Jo Malone for summer, and I like the blackberry and bay for winter. But like Snuggly I'm not wearing any for the time being because it is better for baby to have my natural smell (though still with the benefit of deodorant, I am not going that natural Wink). I really can't bear heavy musky perfumes so I like the JM style.

Cag have you tried eBay for fridges, setting a search radius? It may have more than FB and you can still choose how locally to search.

DH and I have been up getting stuff sorted for our holiday (well, one at a time, while the other holds DD, who we are still completely unable to put down Hmm). Everything therefore takes twice as long, hence the late night. And I've lost a versatile skirt that I wanted to take with me Angry extra annoying as not many of my clothes fit right now!

I can hear a mosquito but can't find the little bugger...

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/09/2017 06:44

Hi nocuts.
I have about 1/2 stone to lose but then toning is the aim. Mammy
I vary perfume as it takes me so long to get through a bottle. Something in a pink sparkly box at the minute.
I can't believe it's been 6 months since the twins were born.

Gym today, petrol, Aldi bits, coast this afternoon's after soft play party. Busy busy

mammymammyIRL · 02/09/2017 07:03

Nocuts you're most welcome, were you here before by any chance?

Lonely that's shocking that the school let a bill get that high Shock
Would love to see pics of your Christmas crafts

Wreck if it's not right for you then that's it, say no

My parents are back from visiting db in Canada & he's asked them to explain to me that next year isn't the best year to visit, 2019/2020 would be better, so I'm thinking where will we go instead Hmm is 4 too young for Euro Disney? I'm not sad about it because it means we can have more money saved for it when we do go.

Our boiler is fixed after an entire month without it, I'm finding it very warm when dh has heating on, he likes hotter showers than me. Total cost €220, we bought an entire secondhand boiler so now have lots of spare parts for it too. The part that we couldn't get new was £300 + vat ShockGrin

Em would ye be ok if ye just showed proof of paying car tax, we have discs in Ireland too

Wreck my dd has done that crying over things like that too, in fact last night she cried because she said he knew from when ds was born I'd love him more Sad she's a worrier & very sensitive but I'm putting it down to being back to school, new teacher & tiredness & growing up a bit that her db is annoying her after her being so patient with him for 3.5 years.

Lifelong any hr monitor will do but it is best to use one, they've launched a new system now where you find your weight in lbs, do 15000 steps per day & they tell you which group to go into & what macros to eat. I'm sticking to current plan as I don't get 15000 steps per day & am losing so why change, it would be 100 extra calories too Shock

Need I wish there were half cans of chickpeas just for making hummus Grin
Made falafel once need to again as au pair likes them & they're expensive to buy.

I think I'm caught up now - sorry to anyone I missed

Spends yesterday €50 odd on diesel on fuel card, gets me 2c off per litre & two weeks before payment comes out of my account win-win 18 days since last fill Smile

And €50 towards hen at end oct, I've scheduled two more transfers in my ynab to remind me to pay balance. Girl organising it wants it in one more payment this month. Shock

mammymammyIRL · 02/09/2017 07:06

Lonely there are great workouts & special advice for toning too. You could join for £15 take the information & leave before next payment is due if you wished I guess. I find the support worth £3.50 a month but I've 2 more stone to lose at least

mammymammyIRL · 02/09/2017 07:11

Lonely have you a digital weighing scales for kitchen or bathroom or neither

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/09/2017 07:30

I have no scales in the house at all that would support my weight. I have digital baking scales.

WreckTangled · 02/09/2017 07:32

Welcome nocuts

Mammy it's he's having an anxious child but makes me feel better to know it's not just mine! 4 is not too young for Euro Disney. We went when ds was 3.5 and he loved it. Lunch with the characters is a must! And booking through magic breaks is best, I think.

We have a wedding in London today. Dc are staying away as are we. Getting my hair done this morning. Not sure when I'll fit lunch in Hmm am also sneaking in a bottle of wine...(at the brides advice!)

mammymammyIRL · 02/09/2017 07:42

My dubarry boots arrived Grin

You would need a scales for weighing yourself too lifelong

Enjoy wreck

When dh gets home from work I'm hoping to drive 3 hours to see my bf & her baby Smile

Frugaleers Still Saving into September
Cagliostro · 02/09/2017 07:56

Ah wreck glad you've seen the house. Weird about changing county but yes that would be a right PITA for childcare! At least you've seen it and you won't have the "what if" - you know you've made the right, informed choice.

Could be going to neighbouring town today as there's a SN charity picnic. But not sure if I have the energy.

ememem84 · 02/09/2017 08:02

mammy nope as we don't pay car tax here... (assuming that's linked to MOT's? We don't have them here either). Panic over though - the disc arrived. I have faith in the postal system once again. And I checked the old disc when I got back to the car last night, it runs 2 sept to 2 sept. So I would have been ok to drive today anyway. Hoorah!

I had such a nice sleep. In the spare room - dhs shoulders playing him up. He went for acupuncture yesterday but has been waking up a lot at night time. Catface stayed with me on the end of the bed. It's her "birthday" next weekend. She will have been with us for a whole year.

We got had a water fountain about 6 weeks ago I suppose. Her coat is much much softer than it was. I'm guessing that this is down to her drinking more?

nobutts welcome!!!

snuggly how are your squishy babies 6 months old already??

Today's plan is: stay in bed until 10. Go to hairdressers. Go to dunelm - we have one now. It opened last week. I want to see if they sell cots.

The pram we sent back is arriving again on Tuesday. So that's all good. Things are falling into place.

In the Thai place yesterday the lady who runs it was asking about baby boy. She knows it's my birthday in a month or so we go there far far too often... and said to go back on due date and she'll make me a special Spicy hot hot hot curry. Apparently Thai babies are never late. Also she said babies usually arrive on a full moon. I'm hoping this is true...

northender · 02/09/2017 08:15

Lots of perfume talk. I'll stay out of that one as it's something I rarely wear.
Welcome nocuts
lifelong our local pharmacy have scales & you can ask to be weighed (they are in a consulting room, not the middle of the shop!). I didn't realise Booths had got as far as Ripon, our Booths is a 5 minute walk away & I split my shopping between there & aldi (mostly Aldi)So long as you're careful what you buy there you're okay.
Today is ds'16th birthday Shock. Where did the time go?? I spent all of yesterday baking & cooking as we had an early birthday tea for him with a few family & friends. Yesterday was good for it as he's playing cricket today & tomorrow.
Made him a chocolate birthday cake which I'll try to post a picture of later. It's a mini version of what I would like to make for my aunty's 60th, but the cake was too fudgy and the ganache not runny enough to drip artistically down the sides of the cake. Chocolate cream cheese frosting, however, is a revelation!
Today will mainly be spent watching DS play. Sausage butties for breakfast and some lovely nephew time this morning. Sil & family arrived in the early hours en route to the Lakes so very much a flying visit. Dnephew is 19 months old and cute as can be
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/09/2017 08:51

I know I got very excited when we passed it. Dh won't make a stop off when we are in the area as he is a spoil sport. Ironically with traffics it's just as easy to get to Ripon as Newcastle for us. I love that my town is so well connected.

I will price up scales. I'm not doing too bad on my own but middle age is spreading. I'm building to 6 classes a week again over 4 days.
