cag how do you make Cauli/broc cheese?

Cagliostro · 31/08/2017 10:47

It's just a normal bechamel (butter, a little flour, milk and grated mature cheddar) and then I pour it over steamed broccoli and cauliflower, and shove in the oven for a bit with a bit more grated cheese on the top (until it goes a bit crispy). We call it trees 'n' cheese :o I would normally just do cauli cheese but DH and DD don't really like cauliflower Hmm :o

WreckTangled · 31/08/2017 11:12

£13.50 ds hair cut
£20 Tesco needed extra chocolate after helping out with a man who has a seizure.

Cagliostro · 31/08/2017 11:34

Need I couldn't agree more re: the GCSE changes. How many times must they use an entire year group as guinea pigs? :( Angry

Got a big to do list to plough though today. Mostly admin. Ugh. But if I'm going to be resting I may as well do something useful.

SunnyLikeThursday · 31/08/2017 11:40

The English education system seems to be a shambles to me. I'm saddened, but not at all surprised, to hear they've done that to the GCSE kids. I was in the first cohort to go through standard grade maths and English in the Scottish system, but we did have past papers and were well and sensibly taught and it wasn't a problem. I don't know what the educational policy people are thinking about here.

christmas There is a year 1 book of that series but no reception version. They worked my ds very hard in reception though so it might be good to look at the 0-6 version which may give you some idea of what he's doing.

WreckTangled · 31/08/2017 11:42

Just renewed pet insurance. Got it for half of the renewal quote.

ememem84 · 31/08/2017 11:44

Oooh trees and cheese. Mmm.

My sister wouldn't eat broccoli. But would eat "trees"

Same as she wouldn't eat salmon but would eat "pink chicken" or beef but would eat "brown chicken"

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 31/08/2017 11:45

Em i keep meaning to say now you are coming into the last few weeks before baby boy arrives make sure you do things like go out for dinner and go to the cinema!! It will probably be your last chance for a while......

So nice not having to get up for work this morning, bliss actually!

Haven't done a food shop for about 2 weeks and we have run out of everything, plan to do a fairly large shop in Morrisons later and will have to get lunch out as have no bread, butter or milk!!

I am shocked at how much damage a Tory government can do the education system in a few short years, less shocked at how much damage they have done to public services as a whole though. Depressing that people keep voting for them.

ememem84 · 31/08/2017 11:46

Emailed nursery to reserve a place for 2018.

Today's spends will be: hopefully around £20 in boots. £20 in coop for parents
And I need to buy a long charger cable for my phone. Catface has chewed ours....and it's getting dangerous.

Laska5772 · 31/08/2017 13:05

Hi again wiking good to see you back ..

Well Ihave had a bit of a (free) win today.. . was referred for physio but managed to lose the contact details. then yesterday a letter came from them checking if i still wanted appointment. I rang this morning and was in within half an hour on a cancellation.. Physio identified prob - central bulgy disc -. and has given me whizzy ( and simple) exercise which magically takes the pain away ..it really is quite amazing and only involves bending backwards as much as I can) --ive just got to do it every hour for next six weeks she says ..

So never look at internet , the excercises i found there for sciatica were probably making it all worse!

Stuck in the shop today with all dc. They have got to the "fighty-bitey" stage, they need to go back to school!!!

cag we have repetitive dinners too, especially ds who still only eats about 3 variations. Needs must, edpecially when they need feeding NOW, and I'm tired and usually cross by tea time. Love trees and cheese! A triumph at lunch, didn't have 'chocolate sauce' nutella so I made ds a 'strawberry sauce' sarnie instead. He cried but after I threatened to switch his tablet off he tried it. Turns out he likes jam after all.

I'm glad dd is in less pain seacow yy to upright sleeping until she vomits less (my dd2 stopped at about 5 months, but she was never in pain, just puked after each feed).

Need house staples, but don't know if I'll get to the shops today.

LonelyOversharer · 31/08/2017 13:15

Oh that's great laska hope this sorts it out for you!

How's your courgette mountain? I left ours and now have 2 2kilo marrows to deal with! Am having spiralised courgette with every meal. Luckily I love it. My super ndn gave me a bag of beans too, must process them as well.

Cagliostro · 31/08/2017 13:20

Aaargh does anyone know about ISAs? My bank app (Natwest) is still saying "this isa cannot accept cash deposits". Annoying as I really don't want to keep the fridge money in my main account. DH's said the same. I thought it was a glitch when we tried the other week but seems not. I may have to ring or something (not today though as I have so much else to do - the to do list said "try to transfer fridge money" so I have done that! :o)

Love the jam = strawberry sauce idea lonely and the pink chicken etc em :o

Shame about the bulgy disc laska but really glad you know now.

Loveabaconsandwich · 31/08/2017 13:28

Love the description fighty bitey lonely, mine are at screamy screamy stage. I am quite looking forward to the big one going back to school now! But then I also have to go back to work

Great news laska, sometimes nothing beats a professional rather than internet "doctors"

cag is there a button to press to reactivate the isa for this year? I normally have to press a button to say I want to subscribe into that isa for the year (not with bat west though)

Hoping for a NSD

Laska5772 · 31/08/2017 13:30

ok so I have just done the execise again.. Ouch!! not so easy as in physios office.. but i will keep the faith..

I also gave up eating courgettes lonely we a have a few torpedos I am not sure what I am going to do with

We have lovely tomatoes , beetroot sweetcorn apples and some spaghetti squash . My cucumbers came to nothing neither did the lettuce really. We had tons of dill (all in freezer) and beans but carrots not so good this year either ..

Loveabaconsandwich · 31/08/2017 13:32

You may have to click into the isa account to reactivate first before trying to transfer cag

WreckTangled · 31/08/2017 13:56

Wow great service laska

Hmm cag just looked on my isa on my NatWest app and it says I can still put £20k in it.

Eugh whilst doing that I noticed that I have way less money than I thought I had.

ememem84 · 31/08/2017 14:10

Courgette soup is good super tasty and very green! Essentially - courgettes and one white onion fried in butter (it must be butter) add chicken stock. Cook. Whizz. Eat.

Also make courgette ribbons with a veggie peeler, fry in butter with sage leaves (only 2 or 3) throw cooked pasta into it. Lots of black pepper. Delish. (My dm bastardised this one by adding bacon and peas - she can't deal with a no meat dinner it was still delish but she couldn't work out why it didn't taste the same as the one I made because you added bacon you tit disclaimer I love her really!)

ememem84 · 31/08/2017 14:10

Also...courgette crisps baked in over are fab. Thinly slice discs of courgette toss in oil with salt and pepper and crisp in oven. Mmmm.

ememem84 · 31/08/2017 14:11

WE looked after fils allotment a few years ago while they were on holidays. Ended up with bin bags full of courgettes. Tomatoes, beans, onions. There's only so much ratatouille one can make/eat/freeze. So we got creative!

Cagliostro · 31/08/2017 14:19

Aha!!! Thank you genius frugaleers. Yes that looks likely - I haven't paid into it in over a year just spent from it instead so it's probably deactivated. Won't let me do it from the app but apparently I can do it over the counter pretty quickly. :)

Spends so far, £110 trampolining (that takes us up to February, it's fortnightly) and £7.50 climbing for next week. But the person on the phone at climbing called me Ma'am. Nooooo surely I am too young for that?! 😭

Cagliostro · 31/08/2017 14:30

One of the things I will be doing a lot if we ever get a fryer is zucchini fries 😍😍😍

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 31/08/2017 15:26

That courgette soup sounds nice Em might give that a go..

Just back from Morrisons and £76 lighter, oh well we did need loads. Also had lunch there which was £10 and dd has a lovely new hair do which was £13, I had £5 off via a loyalty card which was nice.

Yy to it def being back to school time, dd seems to have come back from her Grandads with a lovely new attitude Hmm lots of eye rolling and saying 'yeah i knooooooooooow' to everything I say - grrr, threatened to take the phone back if it continues Wink that shut her up for a bit.

WreckTangled · 31/08/2017 15:34

I was sad about ds going to school but he really needs it! He keeps calling me girl ie 'thaaaanks girrrrll' in an American accent 😂 weirdo. Dd also has an awful attitude again, slamming doors over and over and literally screaming at me.

Swimming lesson for dd in a bit.

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/08/2017 16:37
