We have a king size bed. I don't think a super king would fit (it might but opening wardrobe doors might be a problem).

I had a moan at dh just now. He toddled off to the kitchen and has brought back tea a glass of squash and the left over cakes from afternoon tea yesterday which I brought home. So breakfast in bed is a small bite size chocolate brownie, a bite size bed carrot cake two raspberry and white chicokate muffins (one each) and two fruit scones (one each). Oh and some grapes.

😀

Have had a look at white co. £40 for a king size waterproof mattress protector. £35 for a double and £15 for a cotbed one. Will not be buying all of these at once. annoyingly my 15% is only if I spend £50+ I do get vat knocked off if I buy online though too so potentially could get all at once...bringing it down to £60...if I've calculated that correctly.

CollieBobs · 10/09/2017 09:03

We're going out tonight & that's just £15.

Trying hard to resist naice clothes. For some reason a few weeks ago I bought a pink stripey hoodie from Joules for about £45 that will never ever suit me. What was I thinking? Should sell it on eBay really Blush

We keep forgetting were going away in early October (only for a weekend). It's self catering so I need to think of frugal but naice food to take. A brioche loaf from Aldi, cheese and beer for DH is all I can think of!

ChristmasSeacow · 10/09/2017 09:05

We have a king sized bed and it's pretty good. I hate double beds now don't like DH breathing on me at night. I can't believe I managed a 4-yr relationship at college in a single bed Shock. Our holiday place had a sk bed, it was fab but I wouldn't get one for home as it would make our bedroom seriously cramped I'd have no room for the floordrobe . Cag I probably wouldn't commit to a sk bed until you have moved, fwiw. They really are huge and you might find you are in the situation of not being able to bid on an otherwise great house because your new bed won't fit!

Em we have waterproof cot mattress protectors from John Lewis and they are brilliant - nice towelling finish and not crunchy at all. And they are definitely waterproof, DS tested them well! I tried cheaper ones from t'interweb and binned them, the JL ones were much thicker and better. Funnily enough after the first few weeks babies don't tend to poo in their sleep at night - I've never actually had to clean poo out of the bed with either baby, particularly as we have them in sleeping bags. However, our mattress protectors earned their keep through various 24 hour sickness bugs (I won't say any more but you can imagine!). The night time poo accidents have occurred in our bed as they tend to poo during or immediately after a feed, ie when they are in your bed and not their own! We have a normal mattress protector but not a waterproof one and it had been fine so far. No accident had been that bad and also just as likely to hit the duvet as the sheet, unless you are cosleeping.

We are glad to be home - sadly our holiday wasn't really much of a holiday due to crap weather and very high-needs children atm, but at least we had a change of scene. I think DH can't wait to get back to work! I need to get DD back to the gp this week, her gastric /feeding issues have been awful this last week. She seems to be putting on weight but frankly I have no idea how!

It's DS's birthday soon and I have just bought his gifts - main presents are a watch (£5 - last of the big spenders!) and some number toys that transform to 'robots'. He is obsessed with numbers so that will go down well. Everyone in the family is asking me what to get him and I have no other ideas. He doesn't play with many toys, he doesn't understand games, he's not interested in much Tv, superheroes etc. I don't think he really understands the concept of possession and can't actually imagine having things he doesn't already own. And even if he does want something he doesn't have the ability to communicate that. And most 'experience' things completely overwhelm him too! I hope school opens his horizons a bit more. It was quite funny - I said to him yesterday morning that we were going home to London, to our house and all of his toys, and he yelled 'we're going back to see the microwave!' (The digital displays on the microwave and washing machines are literally his favourite things about home HmmGrin)

I am lounging in bed holding snoring DD. I've just texted DH suggesting a brew Wink

mammymammyIRL · 10/09/2017 09:44

Frugal find yesterday. I buy hen food - bag of layers Pellets & bag of rolled oats maybe once per month €15.50 in coop, and animal feeds place 1 in town, went to other animal feeds place yesterday also €15.50 but 45kg vs 30kg!! Smile

LonelyOversharer · 10/09/2017 09:55

A change is as good as a rest sometimes seacow ! Your ds sounds so very sweet.

I had a sk bed, I have to admit it was epic. I put in ex's storage unit when we split, as technically he bought it (he didn't collect it ir pay the bill so all his my stuff went to auction). Our 'forever' bed is a king (bought last year), but it only just got up the turn in the stairs! Bigger would not have made it - we lost some plaster getting the headboard round. Sometimes it's not just room size that is prohibitive. We have a superking duvet, and have no problem getting bedding for it. Just check the depth of the fitted sheets, as the bigger mattresses do tend to be much deeper too.

School uniform in the dryer. Today is a do nothing day. Might pop to the garden centre later.

CollieBobs · 10/09/2017 10:00

That's a pretty good saving mammy!

The shower screen is leaking but the cost of hacking off old sealant, new shower screen (ours is faulty), new sealant and new lino is too costly until i have a job. In the meantime a shower curtain will prevent any water from escaping and it's a temporary £10 fix.

Heres hoping I have a job by New Year 2018!

we also need a new mattress. Another sulk. BrewBrew

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/09/2017 10:12

We have waterproof mattress protectors from dunhelm mill they are pretty good and towelling material so not scrunchy. DD still has the occasional accident and these contain it. Think the single was about £12.

Dunhelm also sells super king bedding I saw some in their clearance sale the other day for £10 down from £70.

collie aldi do pulled pork which is pretty nice and quite reasonable too, they also sell the brioche buns. Depends though as you need a decent oven.... we tried to cook it in a caravan and it took over 4 hours 😂😂

Yesterday was pretty disappointimg put on 1/2lb at slimming world 😑 but we ended up walking to Emmaus - pretty frugal they were giving children 5 free books each so dd's were delighted. I bought the cats pretty new bowls for £1 each, myself 2 disney mugs for £1 each and a pasta bowl which I have been meaning to buy for 10p. Then went to the park where it promptly starting chucking it down 😂

Got lots ending on ebay today so will be packaging that later, hopefully get some more listed. Just doing housework having a tea and mumsnet break and have got to get coursework started my assignment is due on the 27th 😣

Cagliostro · 10/09/2017 10:47

Oh gosh good point about getting it upstairs too. Bloody awkward hallway and stairs. That might be a problem even with a normal double :( (Ikea one was flatpack of course so we just dismantled it when we moved). I think my old divan folded in half in the middle which might be good in terms of manoeuvring but presumably they aren't all built like that. Either that or we have the same problem as we do with the new fridge - no way of getting the damn thing in the house. But I really can't manage much longer with just a mattress on the floor :(

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/09/2017 10:55

Morning all, have been putting off looking at my bank account as knew it wouldn't be pretty but finally pulled my head out of the sand this morning. It is pretty bad, but with tax credits and child benefit going in next week have just about enough to live on. I have been very guilty this month of being a payday millionaire, end of month pauper!!

Oh well on the plus side I am well stocked up on toiletries and have a few bits for Christmas, I have put £40 cash aside for cat flap man which leaves me with £9 cash to last a couple of weeks.

Off to Lidls later armed with a list, plan on spending £35-£40, also going to attempt to make bread in a bit, my first ever attempt!!

Sold dds old hamster cage for £7, gave £2 to dd.

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/09/2017 11:23

We just played something called Footgolf, which was fantastic fun. It involves going round a golf course but with a football instead of a golf ball. It's mean to be competitive, but we just potter, and it's must like going round a nature reserve with extra motivation.

ememem84 · 10/09/2017 11:42

Just got back from town. We went for a look around the maternity ward - not as scary as I imagined- picked up a form to book a private room, had a nice chat with one of the midwives, dh asked his questions. Feeling good about it now.

We stopped at the french bakery for a baguette for sandwiches for lunch, a coffee and a hot chocolate £5.05.

CollieBobs · 10/09/2017 12:16

I spent exactly £10 at dunelm on a gorgeous shower curtain (skandi style) & new coasters as DS uses them as pretend steering wheels & has hidden 5 somewhere.

Mizzle 'ere Sad

Spag bol is cooking now because we're going out tonight

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/09/2017 13:13

£40.95p in Lidls, happy with that as feels like we got lots (am blaming the rouge 95p on dd sneaking some rocket lollies into the trolley Wink )

Right now for the bread making to begin!!

WreckTangled · 10/09/2017 13:34

I love seeing my mil she always makes me feel so optimistic about life Grin

ememem84 · 10/09/2017 13:59

Nice to hear a happy mil fil relationship wreck mine makes me want to gauge my eyes out with spoons.

I'm back in/on bed. Really feeling tired today - didn't sleep so well last night so am supervising dh tidying up.

Roast chicken for tea. Yay! It's catfaces "rescue-versary" today. One whole year. 365 days of catface. That's gone so quick and such a change in her. Patience pays off.

She's currently hurling herself up and down the hallway and round the living room. I think she's happy...

WreckTangled · 10/09/2017 14:35

This is what Sundays look like in our house Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/09/2017 14:50

Wreck your cat is awesome Grin I want to bury my face in her tummy!!

Well have been a baking queen, waiting for bread to expand and banana cake in the oven, the bread making bit wasn't too bad (quite liked bashing it about!) but it does create a lot of mess, kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off in a flour factory Shock

Dd has been out gathering conkers and is pleased as she has collected at least a million...

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/09/2017 15:43

First footy game of the season today. Ds and a friend have been for a bike ride, chicken in oven. Just contemplating a chocolate cake and banana bread.

Laska5772 · 10/09/2017 18:08

Bah.. Am a right miserable Laska and not worth talking to but I am going to post anyway for a good old moan .. its been one of those weekends..

Firstly fI had both ends stomach bug (Sorry TMI! ) and parents were already on ferry so couldnt be put off . (luckily Dh is a great cook so he handles the lunch)

But that meant I couldnt escape kitchen at all, in times of stress and Parents were ina 'difficult' mood (and I yes , so was I !! ) ..I its too much to explain dynamics , but a longstanding 'thing' resulting from break up of the marriage of my mother and my natural father (who I (have not seen since but is still alive) over 55 years ago, an estranged sister (still to me - , but now the recently returned golden child to DM) DSF and DhalfBro and all the 'arrangements' that have to be made and how im included but not included as not being really 'part of the family' . Oh i cant explain , and i did i'd just sound entitled, .. Gawd its like bloody Eastenders..

God I am in a foul mood... I was giving up Wine this weekend also , and havent cracked yet ). but I have just done some comfort shopping and bought a handbag..

Perhaps ill just a have a drink.. I hate families!
