We have a king sized bed and it's pretty good. I hate double beds now don't like DH breathing on me at night. I can't believe I managed a 4-yr relationship at college in a single bed
. Our holiday place had a sk bed, it was fab but I wouldn't get one for home as it would make our bedroom seriously cramped I'd have no room for the floordrobe . Cag I probably wouldn't commit to a sk bed until you have moved, fwiw. They really are huge and you might find you are in the situation of not being able to bid on an otherwise great house because your new bed won't fit!
Em we have waterproof cot mattress protectors from John Lewis and they are brilliant - nice towelling finish and not crunchy at all. And they are definitely waterproof, DS tested them well! I tried cheaper ones from t'interweb and binned them, the JL ones were much thicker and better. Funnily enough after the first few weeks babies don't tend to poo in their sleep at night - I've never actually had to clean poo out of the bed with either baby, particularly as we have them in sleeping bags. However, our mattress protectors earned their keep through various 24 hour sickness bugs (I won't say any more but you can imagine!). The night time poo accidents have occurred in our bed as they tend to poo during or immediately after a feed, ie when they are in your bed and not their own! We have a normal mattress protector but not a waterproof one and it had been fine so far. No accident had been that bad and also just as likely to hit the duvet as the sheet, unless you are cosleeping.
We are glad to be home - sadly our holiday wasn't really much of a holiday due to crap weather and very high-needs children atm, but at least we had a change of scene. I think DH can't wait to get back to work! I need to get DD back to the gp this week, her gastric /feeding issues have been awful this last week. She seems to be putting on weight but frankly I have no idea how!
It's DS's birthday soon and I have just bought his gifts - main presents are a watch (£5 - last of the big spenders!) and some number toys that transform to 'robots'. He is obsessed with numbers so that will go down well. Everyone in the family is asking me what to get him and I have no other ideas. He doesn't play with many toys, he doesn't understand games, he's not interested in much Tv, superheroes etc. I don't think he really understands the concept of possession and can't actually imagine having things he doesn't already own. And even if he does want something he doesn't have the ability to communicate that. And most 'experience' things completely overwhelm him too! I hope school opens his horizons a bit more. It was quite funny - I said to him yesterday morning that we were going home to London, to our house and all of his toys, and he yelled 'we're going back to see the microwave!' (The digital displays on the microwave and washing machines are literally his favourite things about home
)
I am lounging in bed holding snoring DD. I've just texted DH suggesting a brew
