We've been using up stuff today too. Oven chips (make me reeeeally want a fryer as nothing can beat those!), chorizo, fried egg and spaghetti hoops for lunch and a random freezer buffet for dinner I think. We have so much random crap in there.

SunnyLikeThursday · 01/08/2017 17:14

We've been using stuff up too actually. Our fridge got so empty this week that I put all the shelves in the dishwasher. Unfortunately it seems to be empty again.

Cagliostro · 01/08/2017 17:20

We get stuff like fish fingers in because it's easier for me but I never end up using them as oven food is making me feel a bit sick Hmm

LonelyOversharer · 01/08/2017 17:49

I think that fish fingers are the only thing not in my freezer. Lots of fish though. Pasta was all eaten. Baked breadcrumbs with grated cheese for a bit of a crunchy topping to hide the quinoa from suspicious dd3 which was nice. Chicken tomorrow. There is so much chicken. I'm guessing I've been buying 2 packs for £, eating one, putting one in the freezer. Will batt it flat and roll it up with cheese and pancetta (an old unopened pack was found in the fridge), got millions of mange tout in the garden for veg, plus the courgettes.

cag grill them and have fish finger sandwiches for every meal. I certainly could!

Right, back to work. Am getting loads done being home all day with the dc. It all helps!

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/08/2017 18:02

£35 fuel
£8 top up shop
£10 scotch pads but surveys paid for that.

Made £10 matched betting. in line for £30 tm.

Spicy chicken pitta pockets tonight. This used to be called fajitas but fajitas had pr issues so I renamed them & now they're acceptable Hmm

The Christmas thread has kicked off. 21 weeks to go.

Cagliostro · 01/08/2017 18:11

What do you use to spice the chicken? I am finding that having jars of spices is pointless because I use them so little that they end up wasting away for years. If only they had tiny jars the size of the little jam pots you get in hotels.

On that subject I was very pleased to order a little pot of Caesar dressing - that's another thing I buy when I fancy it but then don't use again so it goes off!

I had a massive craving for a fish finger sandwich in the first trimester but then I had one and it made me feel sick. So I haven't had one since. Was the same with French toast. Still not recovered from the Twiglet Trauma either :o

I posted the Lego thing on the bargain thread but I can never follow it as it moves so fast! This year I have no idea about main presents really which is daft as it's the one year I really should get ahead of the game

Cagliostro · 01/08/2017 18:11

And I have massive curry cravings as one of the rounds on Pointless was about a tikka masala recipe :o

ememem84 · 01/08/2017 18:24

Oh god cag fish finger sandwiches. I remember your cravings. Strangely I've not had a fish finger sandwich for ages. May hunt one out tomorrow. Mmmm. Or may buy a box and have them for breakfast on the weekend. Mmmmmmmmmm.

I'm waiting at the swimming pool for my aquanatal class. Waiting on the grass outside watching people play cricket. No idea what's going on. I've been to cricket before at lords but just got drunk. Couldn't tell you anything about the game other than it was a work thing I spent all afternoon drinking pimms and champagne and eating delicious sandwiches. Free day out though 😉

£43 at garage to fill up the car and on new parking tickets and a twirl

WreckTangled · 01/08/2017 19:13

Well today was much hotter than forecast a lovely 26 degrees. £12 on lunch. I didn't have much for a picnic. We didn't get home until 4:30 the dc had a lovely time. Until we got home anyway. Ds has a fever and went to bed at 6:15 after a thirty minute meltdown and dd fell over again (fourth time in about two weeks) and sobbed for about thirty minutes because she always falls over and no one else ever does Sad

Dh is out at football so just me and the dc which means bedtime has gone perfectly and it's just me and a packet of biscuits.

Tesco sent me a £10 off £70 shop and tow £7 off £70 shop vouchers so I'm going to start an online shop in a bit.

I know fluffy it's coming round so quick 🙌🏼 love Christmas but have never managed to save for it Hmm we're going to go to longleat and Edinburgh this year in the run up. Dd is getting a kindle but not sure about ds. He wants a motorbike but he's only four so probably won't get one Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/08/2017 19:30

Poor kid wreck, that's awful for her Sad

Cag I use spices, I have food allergies so it's just easier that way for me. Some are rarely used eg kaffir limes leaves. I really only use them for curries, spicy chicken & donner kebab

Laska5772 · 01/08/2017 19:51

Heck.. ive dropped off this thread again so this is to get it back on 'my threads' while I go off to do my monthly YNAB budget

One scary thing is that I am now saving 2/3rd of my wages into my pension pot each month.. I am seriously without cash, pay slip was less than £800 and £600 of that has to go into to joint pot . ( goodbye Hush etc etc Sad).

I am not seriously without cash I do know (its all going into pension) and of course Dh is still earning .. .I am lucky to have disposable income at all.. but it feels like a massive change to me

However its (only) 4 months and12 days until I leave work!! Grin.

btw just to let you know that I did read the icecondoms thing last night amShocked!!

Laska5772 · 01/08/2017 19:53

Tayto what was the book called and who by? Id like to read it..

Taytocrisps · 01/08/2017 20:12

Laska the book is called 'Precious Time' by Erica James. It's fiction but there are lots of non-fiction books about camper vans if you'd prefer something more authentic. There's even an adult colouring book!

Saving into summer!
MeadowHay · 01/08/2017 20:28

Hi all, sorry not caught up, very busy atm. We have started packing to move, trying to do a bit each day type of thing instead of getting super stressed at the last minute.

Today was NSD for me, just at work most of the day then DH and I took the neighbour's dog for a walk which was fun and then got ice creams on our way home and then it started to rain so we were walking home under an umbrella eating ice cream, giggling about how it just summed up British summers!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/08/2017 21:00

I'm on the Christmas thread now, thanks. No idea as haven't even finished summer yet

thewaitresses · 01/08/2017 21:03

August not turning out so well either - £24 on moth busting products.

I was in hospital for a week this time round. I packed a tiny bag for c-section - just one baby grow each and a lucozade sport (recommended for enhanced recovery) - and had a second bigger bag ready in the car. Over the week DH took things home to wash and return. Downloaded films/to programmes and headphones helped combat ward noise and feeding sessions.

I flew over Jersey yesterday Em and it looked very sunny ☀️!

Laska5772 · 01/08/2017 21:12

Thanks Tayto ill look it up..
The colouring book looks good also. ill remember that JIC someone wants to buy me a leaving present ( you never know..)

CremeEggThief · 01/08/2017 21:13

Spendy day in Newcastle with DS. We went to the Hancock too, which is free. £113.45, but £72.99 is on my credit card. I got DS school shoes, new boxers (9 pairs) and socks (5 pairs) from Primark and myself new ankle boots from H&M and 3 bras for £8 from Primark. I also got my friend a £10 voucher for H&M for her birthday.

SunnyLikeThursday · 01/08/2017 22:08

I just got an email in response to my published article from one of the Gods in my field. I'm totally gobsmacked because I honestly thought he lived in a previous century (like in the 1800s). I'd never actually thought about the publication date of his book which was actually only about 50 years ago. Gosh! I feel like I just got an email from Aristotle or something.

Cagliostro · 01/08/2017 22:23

Having a mini freak out this evening! Frequent lately (hormones, bastard hormones). I'm just sad that teaching will pretty much grind to a halt. Not even about the money but I know I will lose pupils (not all - some are close friends and they'll be snuggling baby, it's already a running joke that they'll come and steal her while I teach their kids :o). I know I'd be freaking out whatever my job was though, I am so anxious about stuff anyway. I've never had this before - made redundant during my first pregnancy (and hadn't even been working there long enough for statutory maternity pay, was a total nightmare, employer then denied my existence years later when I needed a reference!) and then with DC2 I was already a SAHM. I'm not really used to this working mum with baby thing and being self employed having to actually deal with other people is hard for an Aspie Blush

Cagliostro · 01/08/2017 22:26

It's not even the money really, as it was never much, it's more the change I think, and worrying that people will be pissed off (wouldn't blame them) at not having regular lessons anymore. Although some haven't been for ages for various reasons, so I've not been teaching much at all lately. It's a shame after it was going so well :(

Cagliostro · 01/08/2017 22:29

Aww that's so cool Sunny!

I wonder how the ancients would handle email if they were alive now?

Coppersulphate · 01/08/2017 22:32

Well done Sunny, that sounds like you gave really made an impression.
I've just read back through yesterday and laughed at the fanny coolers. Love the iced condom😳😳.
I also has C sections and the first time was surprised at all the goo. He's 44 now and totally worth it.
NSD but much needed as still in shock at the price of the meal out that I treated my friends to the other night.
12% increase in electricity prices from British Gas. Why???
All the others will follow. Greedy bastards. I will make some candles.

100yearsdotcom · 02/08/2017 00:14

Loving the chat on here! Good to know I'm not the only one who uses the word 'foof'! 😂 I packed a small bag for labour, one for baby and one for the ward. Latter stayed in the car till needed, labour bag went home with dh once transferred to ward. Dh brought in and took away stuff as needed then as I was in for a few days. Pack the number of pads you think you'll need then add a couple more packs - it may not happen to you but I needed to change very frequently and only was able to stop using them nearly 3 months later. 😨

Well done meadow and sunny!

Cag, you will get back to things eventually and you will do just fine. You have more resources than you realise x

Cagliostro · 02/08/2017 00:31

3 months! Blimey :( I was back to normal periods at 11 weeks after DD Hmm (11 months for DS I think but he was EBF)

And thank you Thanks anxiety through the roof today for some reason which isn't helping. Just need to ride the wave so to speak. Must try and sleep now!
