I was getting a bit confused about you being excited about going to st Ives, when it's a place I used to pass a lot on the motorway, until I realised you were talking about Cornwall Blush

NSD although DP went to the supermarket so I guess not really

Took DD1 to a late birthday party. Very tired child now. These things do make me realise how little social skills I have as I just cannot do polite conversation and normally sit alone and feel weird about it Sad

Laska5772 · 11/06/2017 20:00

We get IOW early spuds also ...but NO WAY am i going to compare them to Jersey Royals.. However, they are Veeerrrry similar looking and tasty! (and fertilised with seaweed also) ,
I love them! we also get fantastic asparagus also (season just ended sadly),Its the salty sea breezes and 'island terroir' wot does it for both us and the CI.

.today was a NSD ! But it wasnt like that yesterday as paid for 7 people to eat 3 course pub lunch - £197 Shock Shock though to be fair DF did give me back half later )

But today I have had a frugal win , which I wil share even though I will never repeat this particular meal. It came about because I am determined that we eat whats in the fridge and freezer before our holiday next week and that I dont buy anything other than absolute essentials (like milk)

So to this end, I got creative earlier with the left overs, and though I say so myself I have have just made THE best ever meatloaf ever, ever, ever..

This was the 'recipe' should anyone else have the same random left overs ever.

1 pack of reduced steak mince, 1 pack of reduced organic pork mince (from freezer) . a couple of sticks of celery , a chilli , a yellow pepper, a couple of carrots grated , 1/4 of choritzo ring and a couple of onions - all veg chopped small and fried up. Then added to raw minces along with ..(this stuff out of fridge needing using up !!) ..a tub of red pepper hummus , half a tub of guacamole, half a tub of cream cheese, half a tub of salsa. Then S&P a bunch of chopped dill (from the garden) a splash of barbeque sauce and a beaten egg.. Baked in oven for an hour and a half on 200c covered for first hour ..

OMG, its good! I have just eaten two portions! SmileWine

Laska5772 · 11/06/2017 20:06

Oh, I am getting a tad over excited.. Holiday is sadly not until week after next.. ( but I cant wait!! ..WAH!! )

Laska5772 · 11/06/2017 20:20

meadow sounds like you certainly did smash it,, Well done Smile , I also find it hard to have conversations IRL also , I think thats part of the appeal of MN for me ..

I do agree about clothes prices though.. I am currently looking for a nice blue /white cami to go with a skirt I want to take on holiday . Am sure that prices have gone up loads this summer.. This one I liked in Whitestuff is £40!!. Pretty sure thats loads more than a similar one I bought last summer.. Anyway I am not buying at that price .. Everywhere I look seems to be really expensive now.. (but why? ..Brexit wobbles? )

CremeEggThief · 11/06/2017 20:30

Well done Meadow. Please go to your scan tomorrow too. You need to look after your health. Line up a treat for after it. You'll be fine.

Takeaway was £16.15. Wolfed it down!

needastrongone · 11/06/2017 20:43

Meadow, you've had a brilliant couple of days. Take that strength and energy with you tomorrow. You are a fabulous and capable woman. I genuinely believe you are more than able to cope. Urban Outfitters is a rip off, I agree. Even DD thinks so, despite loving the clothes.

Laska, so you've used all your food supplies and don't go away for another weekGrin. Meatloaf sounds fab though, love a cobbled together meal.

Laska5772 · 11/06/2017 20:52

Oh No Need.. we wont starve, even if I dont go back to a supermarket this month. we have pleanty more to get through ... It is only cheese and yog etc in fridge now, but there is loads in freezer and we starting to get garden stuff now .

ememem84 · 11/06/2017 21:42

meadow good on you!! Well done!!!

laksa I've never had meat loaf. Is that strange? I may make one though.

That top is cute. Love it. Does it have to be blue and white? Could you go for blue. Or white? Incidentally white stuff basic vests are great and about £20 I think. I'm pretty sure you can go via top cashback too.

Dh catface and I have just had a nice snuggle on the couch whilst watching orange is the new black.

Sunday. Eugh. In bed now with another fibre drink sigh a ton of water and catface. Outfit is ready for the morning. Bag is packed. Need to make a sandwich but will do that in the morning.

Have meal planned.

Pea and mint baked risotto
Chorizo and pesto potato salad
Veggie red curry and rice
Salmon and cous cous
Comfort food Friday - maybe ham egg chips
Out Saturday
Roast chicken Sunday.

I've got 8 cucumbers ready. Have to find my recipe for cucumber relish.
Love that top Laska. £40 too much for me though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/06/2017 07:01

Morning, day off work for a school thing. Gym this morning, school thing then quick dash into town. Seen a couple of dresses in next I quite like. Also to post office to post another loads of Lego cards

Well done meadow. Some good stuff going on there.
Good photo need.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/06/2017 07:02

Nice vest but I couldn't pay £40. Peacocks had loads of that style last year for £10 and they are lovely

SnugglySnerd · 12/06/2017 08:42

Well done, Meadow you're on a roll! Good luck with the scan appointment.

I'm trying to bra shop for first time since pregnancy. It's confusing. Have just asked for help from the ladies over at S&B. Have the feeling it could be a costly venture.

mammymammyIRL · 12/06/2017 10:48

Laska5772 · 12/06/2017 11:47

Yes £40 for a vest top is crazy! I got a lovely linen mix white with red embroidery one in New Look last summer , was hoping to find similar with blue embroidery this year, but so far no luck.
girlie i meant to ask after your DD. I hope she is ok and has got back on her bike. I bashed my face up the othet week doing the same over my micro scooter handlebars! ( what a twit) Pretty much healed up now..
need is that the same pony in both photos? If so good to see he is out of box. Btw i might have ordered the Hush Goa blouse with some of my share of "holiday" £2 pig money!! ( yep it is pretty darn expensive but £2 pig is Strictly treat moneySmile)

Laska5772 · 12/06/2017 11:51

Em meatloaf is yum! Esp with a good tomato sauce. Jamie oliver has a nice recipe with tomato and chickpea sauce also.. once you have toddler youll also find its also great for administering hidden veg!!

ememem84 · 12/06/2017 13:07

laksa is it in ministry of food book? That's the only one I have (dsis has the others so if not will steal her books!)

DD's assessment done. Took so long that they couldn't do the feedback bit, and now we won't find out anything until DS has his own assessment later this month, when they'll feed back on both at once (DS' assessment is expected to be much easier). They did say though that she needs assessing by an EdPsych because it seems she may have a learning disability. I feel a bit broken if I'm honest. Really emotional and worried about my wonderful, sweet little girl.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/06/2017 14:44

Laska. ?

Frugaleers - joyfully jumping into June
lifelongfrugaleer · 12/06/2017 14:47

Well done cag. Have a rest now.

£20 in next on a dress and £10 peacocks on a vest. £22 on dance tights but I will get all of that back. £4.76 postage. Laska finally posted your Lego cards and more to you copper.
Matalan tonight for cotton tops and dh t shirts. Also need bread and peas but asda is next door. Then usual Monday club spends

northender · 12/06/2017 15:00

Big hugs for you Cag. For what it's worth, you might or might not remember I got support for dd 18 months ago because of the major issues she was having with sensory stuff and some bullying thrown in. At the time I felt reluctant to do it in some ways as I didn't want her to be labelled or for me to be seen as making a fuss over nothing. I have no regrets now and the support that was put in place made a huge difference. She isn't getting any formal support at high school but I think will always be fairly "high maintenance" in terms of the emotional support she needs from us, but she has made great progress.

Laska5772 · 12/06/2017 15:14

Life good spot, I will go and look in peacocks tomorrow lunch time.. we have a Matalan also i didnt think of them

ememem84 · 12/06/2017 15:26

Also laksa I'm sure that white stuff will have a sale soon. If you're set on that top.
