Bad need.

Nope. I don't need any of it.....

I spent...... £18 in boots. Less than I thought. I De-branded. Boots own coconut shampoo and conditioner, own pant liners, own facial scrub (for dh) etc.

Usually that shop would have set me back about £30.

ChristmasSeacow · 30/05/2017 13:00

Ouch, I am quite squeamish about eyes North. That sounds nasty.

Creme your foot also sounds nasty, and rather a freak event that is now causing a lot of inconvenience! Hope you get it all out with the poultice.

Breastfeeding was the single most traumatic experience I had with DS. It just didn't work but I couldn't let it go and we struggled for weeks with pumping and tube feeding.... This time I will try again as I would love to do it and really grieved over it last time but if it doesn't work I will be more prepared to give up before it turns me demented again. I found Labour and birth relatively easy (even pleasurable?!) so you win some, you lose some!

DS has started playing up at night - not settling to sleep and waking up in the night. It seems to be anxiety-driven rather than mischief. I don't think the heat helps either. Not sure what is bothering him - possibly the imminent baby although I am not convinced he really understands what will
Happen yet so maybe it's not that. Just have to go with the flow and see. I am at work today and tomorrow so I'd like to get some decent sleep! Looking forward to getting paid on Friday - I am in overdraft due to cash flow issues Shock

SnugglySnerd · 30/05/2017 13:03

How's DH today, North? That sounds horible.

Have just sat down with a brew for the first time all day and a baby has started to cry. I'll try and catch up later...

Loveabaconsandwich · 30/05/2017 13:07

DD2 is insisting I sit on the sofa, wearing my sunglasses. If I take them off she yells Hmm

Aww, snuggly I hope you get your Brew kind of warm. One of my colleagues who has just returned from mat leave is loving her hot cups of coffee!

Hope DH is ok north

mammymammyIRL · 30/05/2017 13:25

Karcheer · 30/05/2017 13:37

Hello, can I join?
For the next few months we are going to have to massively tighten our belts, looking further forward we may need to sell our house :(
I've still got some work to do on the house (after a big extension), we still don't have building regs signed off. Anyway, not going to worry about that now!
I don't really know where to start with all of this so I will need some hand holding and ideas.
Yesterday I cleared out our kitchen cupboards/fridge/freezer to work out exactly what food I have.
I've spent £17.61 today in Tesco (Aldi/Lidl are too far from me to make it worth it I would've thought. This should get me to Saturday when I'll shop again. I'm trying to limit myself to £30 a week, which in theory should be oceans, but I was surprised how much today's shop cost :/ I think food is one of our biggest outlays we can change.
I've also had to spend a lot at the vet today and my little dog isn't very well.
On the upside remembered I had £32 on my quidco account so I've transferred that to my bank acc.
I've also cancelled my cleaner and changed my beauty appointment to just my bikini wax (too painful to do this myself), going to stop eyebrow tinting, fake eyelashes, waxing legs (resurrected my epilator). My shellac nails are due to be redone on Saturday but I'm going to go back natural with them too as that costs a fortune plus my nails are knackered :(
I need to dig out my iron and ironing board as the ironing man is the next to get culled.

I'm really interested in ways to make more money as well as reduce, so all advise greatly received!

Thank you!

mammymammyIRL · 30/05/2017 13:53

Welcome karcheer cost of groceries I guess depends on how many you're feeding

Just had a frugal win, Facebook competition on an education page I follow - won a year's subscription to a science magazine for kids :) woohoo!

Karcheer · 30/05/2017 14:25

At the moment it's just me, 2 dogs and a cat. Dh is away and also only allowed to spend £30 (again which seems oceans but he manages to spend it :/).

WreckTangled · 30/05/2017 14:27

Woo hoo Cag!

Oh and £10 in charity shop on this dress for me and some trousers from John Lewis for dd.

Welcome Karcheer

Hi there just had a quick catch up during lunch and wow thread fast moving as usual. So am going to be a right cow and restart right here ... although i must just say creme i hope your foot is healing ..
.. breast feeding was rather a long time ago for me (though i still allowed ds to still feed sometimes when he was over 2 years much to shock and disgust of lots of people i knew then..) ..
It doesnt seem to have done any harm (though might be responsible for my bra size now) .

My weekend was busy although mostly at home with visitors (shame about weather ) ..lots of catering!! And eating!!
Back in work but its quiet here today .. Im out for a meal this evening but its only 3 weeks to holiday.. and im not going to lose that extra stone in time am I Sad.

Well done Cag. Which magazine?
North, how is Dh's eye, and Creme, how is your foot.
Well done Em on resisting Need's temptations.
Waiting for bricklayers to come to look at building the small wall for my greenhouse.

Cagliostro · 30/05/2017 15:51

Gorgeous dress wreck!

It's called Okido Copper probably a bit young for DD but I think DS will like it :)

Karcheer · 30/05/2017 15:52

Just spent the whole afternoon on chat with Apple support updating the software on my mac air which I've not used for ages, but I'm thinking I'll need it for matched betting if I do that. And generally spreadsheets and stuff for tracking our life :/

Dress is really pretty wrecktangled

thewaitresses · 30/05/2017 16:11

Hello again! Seriously restarting for June! We're looking at either extending our house or moving somewhere bigger so that, alongside a big increase in childcare, means that our budget has become very tight. Generally I think we do live quite frugally - we save, we save up for things we want to buy, we keep food costs down and don't have expensive hobbies. Our biggest problem is eating out or on the go or unplanned so since Saturday we've eaten out 3 times and done a top up shop to take food to a friend's BBQ. It's not even particularly enjoyable with 3 kids in tow 😂! Just lazy/unorganised!

SunnyLikeThursday · 30/05/2017 16:43

I'm watching the May/Corbyn debate on catch up just now. I wondered if anybody else had watched it?

I liked the lady's question on why we're leaving the EU now, when the whole story about saving £350million a week to give to the NHS turned out to be guff.

Cagliostro · 30/05/2017 16:56

Waitresses that's our biggest downfall too, we are totally disorganised with food! I have tried meal planning so many times but always fall off the wagon!

mammymammyIRL · 30/05/2017 17:08

Waitress I absolutely love to eat out but find it's more enjoyed if it's a treat rather than a regular thing that's just diminishing my meagre budget even more. This week we'd pizza because I got expenses back. €61.49 expenses back €22 pizza deal. And i was ill & dh was at work all weekend so it fitted in.
