Last poster last night & first this morning. Today will be a NSD.
After my exercise streak last week I took Sun & Mon off which has now spilled into Tues also. Doing bootcamp classes next three mornings though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/05/2017 06:21

Ah ok. I preferred the Tom's. The sandals are not my style so not keen, sorry. That's a good frugal result though.
Going to dig out my sign up email address. The t shirt is oos at the moment in s and m

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/05/2017 06:22

That's is amazing lonely Star

DD2 was asleep about 7.45 last night. I was all smug as I wasn't lying down with her to get her to sleep but sat in the chair. Went to leave the room and the blimmin baby gate was so loud when I opened it that it woke her up. I was no longer smug. She then got up at 2am but it was DPs turn. Where has my amazing sleeping child gone??! It's just a phase, it won't last forever, I keep telling myself this!

Hopefully just £40 to spend in Tesco today

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/05/2017 06:33

All this talk of shoes is making me want some new shoes Grin. I want some pretty flip flops

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/05/2017 06:42

Lonely Omg I'd be so chuffed at that, I'd be telling everyone I'd made that in rl. Fantastic confidence boost.

Wow lonely that's awesome!!!

Starting off at the dc's school this morning so can do the school run and come back for a coffee before work!

Need petrol too will fill it up.

needastrongone · 09/05/2017 06:56

Just at farm but that's fab Lonely, what a brilliant thing to happen! Her make up is bloody fab too (shallow need as ever...).

Hope you are okay life, don't go if you feel crap tonight.

ememem84 · 09/05/2017 07:17

Wow lonely that's cool!!!

need agree re the make up.

May have to take catface to the vet today (if they're open) her right eye has been watering for a few days. It's not red or inflamed and doesn't seem to be bothering her much. Dr google says it could be the start of cat conjunctivitis. Or a blocked tear duct. Or an allergy or something in her eye.

She's fairly affectionate so rubs her head on my hand a lot and it always feels wet.

Hope vets is open today (public holiday so may not be) otherwise I'll have to make her an appointment for Saturday morning. I'll ring them and see. They would do an emergency appointment but I don't think it warrants one. Although my sisters cat is a one eyed rescue. Because he had an infection and his old owners didn't treat it.

Bloody animals.

Cagliostro · 09/05/2017 07:32

Popping in briefly, no wifi here! I'll probably have several early nights at least as I don't have enough data to mooch online :o

Lonely OMG that's so awesome!!! 🌟 Both that you get to see your item on telly and the brooch itself, it's amazing.

Really glad I came yesterday - journey was hard but we are here now and I'm feeling a bit better. Not going to swim myself though which is annoying as I was very excited about that!

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/05/2017 08:11

Em Just a thought, but when babies get conjunctivitis it can be solved really fast by getting very dilute Johnson's baby shampoo (one drop in half a mug of water) dipping a cotton wool ball in it and just sweeping the cotton wool ball across the closed eye. Would that be worth trying with catface?

Ds got conjunctivitis several times and I did that three times a day for one or two days and the infection was magically gone. It seems that Johnson's baby shampoo contains the same antiseptic that is used by eye surgeons, which is why it has this "no tears formula".

I'm working very hard at being relaxed here. |It sounds funny but it really is work to get relaxed after years of bonkers hard graft in baby care. GP says that is the answer, so I'm working on it. Watching gardening tv three times a day as part of my mission.

ememem84 · 09/05/2017 08:33

Thanks sunny we tried washing her eye last night. But even though she is cuddly, she is very wary of new things. Unfortunately cotton wool pad with warm water wasn't getting anywhere near her yesterday. Have called the vet and they are closed today (figured they may be as public holiday here but their website didnt suggest closed...) it doesn't seem to be bothering her - so I'll call tomorrow to make her an apt for Saturday morning. Sadly that's the only time I can go. Can't take any more time off work at short notice.

I will try again later with the cotton wool though. Once she's settled in my lap might see if dh can wipe it while I hold her down.

WreckTangled · 09/05/2017 08:56

Argh just had a bit of a run in with the pre school manager. I'm quite upset as I've always got on so well with them. Ds has to have his antibiotics four times a day so we can't get around him needing it whilst he's there but they are point blank refusing to do it as its their policy not to. I said it's no wonder bugs are building resistance to abx when children can have the proper dose because childcare settings are refusing to give them!

needastrongone · 09/05/2017 09:07

That's weird Wrecked. I would ask to see the written policy that states that is the case, this type of setting will have to have something in writing. The inspectors, when OFSTED inspected at the DC's primary really honed in on our policy and how medicines were stored, labelled and given out so there will have to be something in place.

Also, if that's the case - do they not allow the kids to have inhalers if required? Or diabetes medicine (rare, but not impossible).?

Pah!

needastrongone · 09/05/2017 09:09

Snuggly I'm just wondering how you are getting on? Must be bloody hard graft with 3 small DC. Are things settling into a routine at all?

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/05/2017 09:36

Good luck there Em. Getting near the patient with medical treatment is also a difficult thing with kids, I'm learning.

I've started a paid subscription to a computer programme that helps me do breathing exercises to calm me the heck down. It's quite interesting doing it.

I've been going for about a month and actually the more useful thing is that it forces me to sit down three times a day and realise that I'm so overworked that I can't actually breathe slowly. I've started to properly rest and relax during these breathing breaks and it's really strange to realise that I haven't done that properly in years.

It's weird because I'm sure people think SAHMs do nothing but watch daytime tv, but the reality can be a million miles from that.

needastrongone · 09/05/2017 09:41

My frugal things today are -

Pay a big chunk off the mortgage (already done). Mortgage is now under £150k. I know that's just a number, but when we moved it was close to double that and felt a touch overwhelming and never ending but we've stuck to our guns and over paid and paid lump sums as and when we can so feel good it's where it is.
Use my M&S vouchers and Boots points for items required.

ememem84 · 09/05/2017 10:05

Wow need good work!

That's our plan too. The mortgage meeting yesterday scared me a bit. Mostly because our current mortgage is £139k. New one will be around the £420k mark. Eeeep. But similar repayments (only a couple of hundred more a month). And we will be able to overpay either monthly or in chunky lumpy sums up to 10% a year.

Still in bed. Dh is reading a book about parenting. I'm flirting between dozing and reading book and mn-ing

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/05/2017 10:14

That doesn't sound right Wreck not sure how they can justify that tbh, whenever dd has needed antibiotics cm/nursery or school have always been very accommodating, I think its part and parcel of looking after kids surely. I would put a formal complaint in as really it could come under a safe guarding issue, if a child needs medicine how can it be policy to deny them that Confused

Lonely awesome Star

Cats do get trouble with their eyes from time to time, I would persevere with trying to bathe it Em warm salt water would prob be as good as anything. Might as well get her used to you getting near her eyes as the vet it likely to prescribe eye drops!

Day off today, yay. Meant to be tidying up but got distracted by fb and mn going out to meet a friend for coffee in a min and then going on a mission to tidy up, may attempt some exercise later.....

Laska5772 · 09/05/2017 10:31

Scary numbers em . Yes overpaying if you can is the wtg.. it felt so good when we finally paid ours off ( but we were lucky enough to be in a position to prioritise it by never reducing our standard payments when rates went down and being able to overpay when we could .. ( i couldnt have done this ( public sector job) but fortunately Dh is in employment that pays bonuses.

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/05/2017 10:46

Well done need. £150k is my magic figure too, only almost £39k to go! I dream of winning the lottery and paying it off Grin

Feeling a bit done in today so taking it easy and DD2 is getting more tv than I'd like. Brew and Cake is on the cards today

ememem84 · 09/05/2017 10:59

laksa scary yes. But doable. So all good. And hopefully salaries will continue to go up!!

We're fixing for 2 years (was going for 5) but if we go for 2 dh believes that by this point beexit will have happened and rates will have dropped again.

They're unlikely to go up stupid high so well be ok.

SunnyLikeThursday · 09/05/2017 11:40

How do you figure that on the interest rates?

Coppersulphate · 09/05/2017 11:45

Well done Need on your mortgage overpayment. I am frantically overpaying mine when ever I can. Because I am older I only got a 6 year mortgage but hope to pay it off much earlier than that.
And thanks for mentioning about DGS and his operation. It is fraught here and it is the elephant in the room. But you absolutely must be worried sick about DPony and, of course the effect it is all having on your DD.
DGS enjoyed the Natural History Museum. Loved the dinosaurs and the butterflies.
Enjoy your holiday Cag.

ememem84 · 09/05/2017 12:06

sunny given that rates went down after the brexit referendum vote was announced and they dropped slightly after the brexit button was pushed. It's just a theory. But if the pattern follows through it's more than likely that they'll drop (or at any rate won't increase by much) once brexit is done and dusted. In 5 years time things will have moved on somewhat. So we're giving ourselves the best option. Fix at a low rate for 2 years, then refix.
