I've had the heating on today too, and the tumble dryer. It's nearly June FFS!

I've been really bored today. Had planned to go for a long walk but it was pouring with rain and the babies were asleep so I decided to stay in only all I've done is laundry and watching rubbish tv. I can't spend the rest of my mat leave like this I'll go crazy! I was going to bake but we're out of eggs until the online shopping arrives.

Snuggly I so completely know that feeling. That's how I ended up doing publishable research in my own dining room. I've also gone through phases of writing children's books and writing for website and all sorts of other things.

When I'm stuck at home I always try to remember that Florence Nightingale and Charles Darwin shot to fame because they were both housebound with various lurgies and so spent a lot of time thinking and writing. Do you have any world-changing ideas brewing?

I just did a uSwitch thing on my gas and electricity bills. The loop energy monitor did all the analysis and said I'd save £600+ so I just got on with it.

Am I meant to read the meters now? I'm wondering if the whole process is likely go a bit wonky and result in me getting some weird bill that reduces the savings.

Lost another long post. I give up for now!

ememem84 · 19/05/2017 17:28

Ffs. Was meant to view two houses this evening. Both agents have called to cancel as both properties went under offer no more viewings at lunchtime.

Me and baby boy are consoling ourselves with a bag of haribos. Stupid quick moving property market. Bah. Humbug.

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 17:31

Its been fantastic weather here today. i was out on (building site earlier and actuallyhot in my PPE gear. .. Time to ditch the stunning winter Hi Vis jacket and the fur lined steel toecap boots? (But I tell you,, I look so darn good in them as well Grin)

£46 in Sainsburys (had to go there f r the lego cards so id also like any spares anyone has going for DGS.. he wont mind doubles or triples hes to young to collect themseriously) . Then £40 cash out of hole in wall, which will be for tomorrow now as my parents and DB have decided to come over for lunch ( which I am glad of - my Mum is 91 so its good to see her get out and aboutas much as she can).

I am still looking over pension figures .. Its about how much income vs cash i wantand trying to get the right balance ( and also to hopefully buy that motorhome!).. Anyway I have a few months yet before I need to make decisions if I am going to really go in December (squeeee!! Smile)

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 17:33

Em I thought you were suited? what happened to the one you offered on ( black granite worktops etc) ? Did you lose it because of your buyer pulling out ? Have you sold your flat again now?

needastrongone · 19/05/2017 18:29

I'm confused on the 'Em, where are we with the house' front too Laska.

You posts never fail to make me smile Laska, I'm sure you rock the Hi Viz look. Grin

How was the appointment Seacow? Not long now to go!

I'm trying carbonara tonight, which I haven't done before. I'm a touch concerned but giving it a go! So if it goes well then it's a cheap day otherwise we will be having takeout.

WreckTangled · 19/05/2017 18:34

Need the only thing that can go wrong is that you scramble the egg!

needastrongone · 19/05/2017 18:41

That's my fear wrecked!!!!

I'm having a quiet glass of wine, DH has taken the dogs out, DS is messing with his fish tank, DD is riding and sorting 'da pony.

I've run today and done a PT session, just a gentle 3 mile jog, but I'm good to go again now. Not running really messes with my head.

SunnyLikeThursday · 19/05/2017 18:44

A friend at the school gate told me today that the Exec had discussed my Beavering efforts and were pleased with me. I nearly fell right over. It hadn't even crossed my mind that people had noticed me being there, let alone discussed me. I felt quite chuffed.

ememem84 · 19/05/2017 18:51

need I cannot for the life of me do proper carbonara. Dh can. I just use cream cheese.

laksa re the house. Essentially this is how it's going.

Our buyer pulled out. Our place is back on the market.

We still have offer in on house no 1 but the sellers seller is docking everyone around.

House number 2 is a no go. Dh went back for a look as he wasn't as keen as I wasn't so we've withdrawn our offer. Sigh. I loved it. But he feels like he'd be settling. So it was the right decision.

Dh is not making pizzetti for dinner (small pan fried pizzas) and I'm consoling myself again with naice humous from Waitrose and kettle chips while I wait.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/05/2017 18:53

It has seriously chucked it down here this afternoon Shock feels like we have had a months worth of rain in a day!! My water butt is looking very topped up though (as a bona fide gardener this makes me happy!)

Spent nearly £40 in The Range, did stick to £20 for my dads bday present, have got him a terracotta pot that I will get dd to paint, some nice plants and a few bulbs to put in it. Also bought a few extra bulbs and seeds to give him, quite a nice present for a gardener.

Not sure where the other £20 went, I bought some stuff like loo roll, cat biscuits etc so think that just added up.

Dd has just had her clarinet lesson which went well and we are now watching a film, glad its Friday Smile

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 18:54

Ive never made carbonara either..I love it , but Im not eating much pasta these days,, due to diet .. ( but i have just poured a cheeky glass of Friday white ...)

Need l'ensemble du Jour was all topped off with a stylish blue hard hat!! (I dont do builders bum though!).. Actually, you dont see much of that anymore. Sites these days are usually pretty well regulated.. (well, if the ones I deal with ain't, I can close them down!!.. GAAWAAWAAWAAW ....The power!! Grin

Right must back to kitchen Wine Dh iis n shower.. .. We are having steak.. well, it is Friday! ( and just us two!).. and salad and bread.. Yum..Smile

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 18:55

need I hope your DH is a bit better?

ememem84 · 19/05/2017 18:58

laksa steak and wine?? Sounds like a perfect Friday evening. 😀😀

Cagliostro · 19/05/2017 18:59

Just took DD to ballet. She's loving it. Only 3 in a class too, I'm liking that staff ratio! :o

LonelyOversharer · 19/05/2017 19:07

Right, let's see if I can get a post to stick...

Been reading, but between mn being awful last night, and my dodgy last-legs tablet nothing was posting.

I had a cake fail last night!! I put cream and cherry pie filling in slightly warm sponge. Totally delucious, but it all slipped south! £29 on steak for dp birthday tea. Cheaper than going out (I did chunky chips, mushroom cream sauce and peas to go with), and such a treat for us.

Took the kids to macdonlds for tea tonight, as feeling very glum and cba cooking. The 'we're hiring' sign was back in the local shop I applied to, so I sent dp in to see if it was worth re-applying (and he needed lunch), as the manager is a customer of ours. Well, it turns out he knew who I was (application was emailed to head office), but I wasn't right for even an interview Blush , he was quite diplomatic with dp, but that's what it boils down to. So that's a bit of a kick. Seems a career that simply does not transfer to normal life, and having 14 years off raising children means I'm no good to work stacking shelves in a shop. Not worth reapplying then!

The ! is tounge in cheek. I'm feeling very blue.

Fluffys frugaleer thread. All welcome.
Cagliostro · 19/05/2017 19:15

Oh lonely that absolutely bloody sucks. I hated that period of job hunting without the current exactly perfect work experience, it's so demoralising. 😡 Sometimes it felt like people just see SAHMs as totally unemployable. I got round it in the end by volunteering in a charity shop but it was easier then as DH was off work (injured, hence me suddenly needing a job). I had work experience but it wasn't 'the right kind' (tuition). So, not good enough for them. Ugh.

ememem84 · 19/05/2017 19:23

lonely sorry to hear that. It sucks. I don't know why people do it. I mean surely there's someone who's willing to work but is deemed not good enough because you don't have relevant experience? So how are you meant to get said experience?

I'm angry for you.

The cake looked nice though. A black Forrest cake?? my absolute favourite

Came home and played catch catface for her eye drops. I won. Again. I'm winning 10-0 now. Catface tries her hardest to escape me. But there's only so far she can go. It's getting easier though.

HollyTheHarrier · 19/05/2017 20:07

Sooo happy it's Friday! This has felt a long week and has been embarrassingly spendy 😳 From tomorrow I'm going to start again with keeping track and not frittering...

Trying to work up the motivation to get out for a run. I really want to but am shattered and headachey so am going to need to force myself a bit. Will just plan to run for 15 minutes and if I feel up to going further then I can.

House moving is stressful. My buyers are going all quiet which is making me very nervous 😬 Really just want it all to get sorted and done so I can stop spending so much time thinking about it.

Loveabaconsandwich · 19/05/2017 20:10

I feel cross on your behalf too lonely. Applying for jobs is soul destroying. But there will be somewhere out there for you that appreciates all you have to offer

em thanks for the house update. I was a bit lost too, but figured I hadn't been paying attention properly Blush

DD2 had a swab taken and prescribed antibiotics and two different creams. And there was me saying all apologetically to the doctor "nursery made me bring her." How bad do I feel Confused

Went to Tesco twice- £45
£21 Boots but £5 back in Amex credit

SnugglySnerd · 19/05/2017 20:49

No world chanting ideas, Sunny but I am looking for some local projects. Watch this space!

NSD and I'm drinking a glass of wine in bed while waiting for the babies to nod off. Feels almost indulgent!
