Laska I will have spare Lego cards as we have 2 collector albums and are starting to get doubles. Will let you know once the trading this weekend finishes. I have to do all my shopping there and get Lego cards. Costing me a bloody fortune

mammymammyIRL · 19/05/2017 21:06

Ooh that croissant sounds like a lovely combination em
Snuggly I finished off clothes in dryer today, first time in ages & heating will be on for a little bit in the morning I think too. You're allowed spend some of your Mat leave watching daytime tv Wink

Loving our new hens - got 8 on Sunday & we've had 7 eggs a day since Smile

Currently downloading a new build to my android box, dh just isn't converting to choose what you want to watch rather than browse what's on live & mobdro is his shit app of choice, I've deleted it Grin will see what comes of this. It's called Pulse & is apparently brilliant

Shit em that's a pain
I broke into an Easter egg dh bought me last night after weeks of resistance I'll finish it tonight, deliciousness - it is one of the 'posh' ones from Aldi
Laska exciting times - I started paying into my pension in Feb & it's coming along nicely already 20 years will make a massive difference Smile

Need my db taught me how to make carbonara recently 3 egg yolks, shitload of Parmesan & a little of the pasta water le yum hope yours works out
Are you recovered enough to wear the heels need? Grin

I broke in my runners today with a 7.5km run, they're epic Smile

I took dd to camogie this evening, she absolutely loved it Smile €2 well spent! Will need a hurl but my hairdresser has offered her daughters old helmet which is the more expensive item

Lonely that's awful thankfully you've got cake to console you Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2017 21:22

Holly it took us 5 months to buy this new build, we were Ftb in rental too. We thought it would take 6 weeks 😂🔫. I've sworn never again.

Lonely wow. Basically they want a teenager they can pay less with no commitments don't they?.

£3 tampax, started early. Normally I pay 85p in Aldi. That'll teach me.
£2 beer.

Made £23 on matched betting.

Couldn't post at all yesterday too, so hopefully I can post now. Yesterday was £9.77 on brunch with a friend and £6.79 Co-op top up and today was £4.20 for the window cleaner.

Happy weekend Smile.

HollyTheHarrier · 19/05/2017 22:12

5 months fluffy! Yikes. It took 3 months I think when I bought this place and it was chain free but I was lazy/clueless and didn't push anything along. Nearly two months since having offers accepted now.

mammy good work on your run. What's Camogie? I'm seriously impressed that you still have an Easter egg!

Happy weekend to you too creme😊

Snuggly wine in bed sounds fabulous. I'm sure you've earned it!

Coppersulphate · 19/05/2017 22:24

I use Trainline for cheap tickets, but like Meadow said, take the payment card with you. But Cag. can't you now get a disabled person's rail card. It makes it a lot cheaper. Have a look on line.

MeadowHay · 19/05/2017 23:30

Copper Yes Cag should be able to get disabled person's railcard now, you definitely should if you haven't already. DH and I both have young person's rail cards which saves us 1/3 off ticket prices, makes a huge difference as rail fares are soo expensive.

Lonely I agree with Fluffy tbh it sounds like they want someone under 25 so they can pay less and boss them about more. I don't think it's any reflection at all on you or how good you would be at that job Flowers.

Got more incorrect letters from Student Finance today, both of them wrong but both at the same time directly contradicting the letter I got from them yesterday Hmm. They are sooo useless.

Sunny Well done on getting your hard work recognised at Beavers.

Snuggly You're making me want a glass of wine now! But as a general rule I don't drink at home unless we've got guests (just an easy way for me to minimise my alcohol intake).

Cagliostro · 20/05/2017 00:12

Yep will be getting disabled railcard :) but we have a family one anyway which takes 2/3 off the Caglets' fares too :)

Woohoooo balance transfer is DONE!!!

Laska5772 · 20/05/2017 06:28

Life thats great thanks pm me when you want happy to send you back stamps to cover postage .
lonely that is such sh*t. Employers are just so over fussy, um sure they miss out on really good people by being so. My Ds had such a difficult time finding work and still only has a temp job ( but this time hopefully one which will become perm) just because he often didnt ' fit' standard perceptions .. or have experience. Having to go to job centre for over 2years nearlly broke him he became so depressed and they were only good at sanctions the jobs he did get were off his own back..

Loveabaconsandwich · 20/05/2017 06:35

Loving hearing all the little frugal helping things that your PIP payments will assist with cag

This may be a silly thing to ask cag but do you or dH drive? Would you be entitled to a car under the motability scheme? My car I got last year belonged to someone for three years from brand new previously under that scheme, and has lots of extras fitted like parking sensors and heated seats

Laska5772 · 20/05/2017 06:39

Em

housemoving is so bloody difficult!!!
Meadow student loan company sounds such a nightmare. Iwas lucky having one of the first ever ones when i did first degree as a mature studentd in the 90s but in those days you could only borrow 1k a year (you also got grant and no tuition fees) . You didnt have to pay it back if you reached 50 and hadnt earned enough.. i didnt until i was 49 so in the end only had to pay pack about £150 Grin...
.mammy i didnt understand at all about the new build to android? I am a dinosaur!!

Laska5772 · 20/05/2017 06:48

Just a thought ( as i have been on another thread) i hope no one here who recently bought a newbuild home has leasehold deal. This is turning into a massive scandal with regard to the volume housebuilders selling on the leases and people facing big demands fom the new owners.basically making their homes unsellable. If any of you are thinking of buying newbuild do watch out for this and avoid like the plague. Good place to look is The Guardian and search under ' leasehold'if you want to know more.

mammymammyIRL · 20/05/2017 07:19

Dc still have Easter eggs too holly but I think that's because they've forgotten about them

Camogie is the girls version of hurling which is an Irish team sport using a timber stick and a small leather ball.

Fluffys frugaleer thread. All welcome.
lifelongfrugaleer · 20/05/2017 07:31

No laska, don't want anything for postage when I get sorted

northender · 20/05/2017 07:32

laska I've been hearing about the leasehold issue. Radio 4 You & Yours programme have been covering it, it is scandalous. I feel so sorry for those caught up in it, as usual, the people who can least afford it are shafted by the rich and powerful.

ememem84 · 20/05/2017 08:06

Morning. Open viewing at our place today. Sigh. So am up and trying to frantically get everything tidied away.

Riding at 12 £25.

Played catch the cat this morning with catface. First time in almost a week I lost. Aaah. Had another go half hour later when she was stupid cuddly on the bed. Won round two - eye drops in cat!! Yes!!! Only three more applications. Thank goodness.

needastrongone · 20/05/2017 08:20

Morning.

Oh Lonely, that's crap that is. All the skills you have running your house and the club etc too. Employers can be so generic sometimes. It's crap. The cake looks lovely btw.

Laska, DH says he is okay mentally, I beg to differ. He has no off switch for work either. We are not in the best place at the minute but it's temporary I feel, we've both had a lot to deal with too recently.

The Carbonara was fine. I think I made two small mistakes, too little pasta (ALWAYS do too much!) and just a touch too much extra pasta water. It's a simple dish that's quite tricky too isn't it? Thank you guys for the tips. I made it with some chorizo and roasted puréed butternut squash and garlic, which was lovely actually. Case of using what was in rather than buying more stuff.

Going shopping soon for DD. Sixth form clothes and a few 'nice' bits, she lives in jodhpurs and smelly hoodies.

DS is finding his exams very tough going indeed. I feel for the kid.

Mammy - I'm going to send the heels back, I don't need them and they won't get the wear. They are lovely and beautiful things to look at, but it's no good looking at them often when I could buy a pair of mules etc for the summer. Sensible and not shallow Need ha ha!! Well done on the run, so the trainers are comfortable then? Did you go for the Asics? I can't recall now.

needastrongone · 20/05/2017 08:27

We are actually having the opposite issue re employment, which I know is happening to the other employers in our tiny and very specialist industry. Desperately need experienced staff with specific skills, none to be had. You guys know we pay well, plus give an annual bonus, overtime, van, pension etc, we look after our staff, there's just none out there with a highly specialised skill set.

We've already got a couple of young guys to train up but that takes years, our gap is the above.

Cagliostro · 20/05/2017 08:30

Love nope no driving here! Even if I could learn now it would be unsafe as I get dizzy/visual weirdness with no warning. It's cool though, luckily this town has excellent public transport so we get around pretty easily. :)

Cagliostro · 20/05/2017 08:32

Hope DS' exams go smoothly from here on need it's a rough season! Bet he's acing them though. :)

needastrongone · 20/05/2017 08:41

cag, I really don't think he is actually, I think he's blanking a bit iyswim? I've emailed school, which he will actually hate me for, but I think he needs some coping strategies. He's chosen exceptionally tough subjects and has high expectations for himself, but lacks a touch of confidence too. X

Cagliostro · 20/05/2017 08:47

Ah I see. That must be hard for him :( sounds like emailing was a good plan x

LonelyOversharer · 20/05/2017 09:15

You lot are all ace! Thanks for cheering me up. You're right, they're looking for cheap students. But all the people who currently work part time there are just mums like me or older, it's a really small town/big village, but I really need to be close to the dc while they're in primary. Our own shop wipes it's nose, and we turnover more every year, but we've not been able to take wages from it yet. Hence why dp and I are both self employed doing other things too.

Am all out of dog kibble and wet cat food, so have to traipse into town. Clives food is on offer in sainsburys, so if I get those cards I'm happy to pass on as my dc have not come across them yet!

Am onto the planets for the quilt, and hoping to start sewing my dress today too. Right, better get moving and wake up my grumbly teen.

WreckTangled · 20/05/2017 10:08

We're at the cinema watching the Lego batman movie. £7.50 plus £8 something on popcorn and coffee. Will probably go to macdonalds after. Then to pick up the food shopping. Dh hasn't been paid despite phoning his boss and leaving a message last night asking him to.
