I just sent ds off to the after-SATs party, which looked way more alarming than the SATs. One of the parents had thoughtfully sent their kid in with 1kg bag of haribo and the boys were all high as kites just from looking at it. Slightly suspecting that ds will be spending the morning in the library if he's lucky

Quiet day for me. I've submitted my grant proposal and had mega-stressful meetings with school head and new GP. I reckon I've earned a stop.

needastrongone · 19/05/2017 09:27

Oh Copper, your poor DGS. Little love. I agree with Fluffy, perhaps best just to get on with things rather than keep waiting. I'm sure that as a family you will build a positive story about the scar. Good luck, I simply can't imagine how stressful this is for you all.

Em sensible decision re the Brie, it's not like you are ingesting unpasteurised cheese by the bucket load. You will be fine. I think you will be a sensible parent tbh, from the little I know of you.

I've forgotten everything I've just read!!

needastrongone · 19/05/2017 09:28

Girlie, I too use Martins energy club. They also notify you when your deal will expire, so you are always aware that you need to change, or look to change tariffs.

needastrongone · 19/05/2017 09:30

Laska I did turn the heating on!! The Liz Earle stuff is lovely btw.

needastrongone · 19/05/2017 09:30

Spends

$15 PT session.
£3) cleaner.

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 09:34

Em its strange how they can change your tastes aldo. Id been a veggie for about 10 yrs when i got pregnant but went off cheese and veggie protiens really quickly.. then about 6 months in the longing for a ham sandwich and things like tuna became unbearable and i caved. Ive been a meat eater ever since and DS was an utter carnivore right from the start of wanting solid food!! And still is!!

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 09:38

Iwas with martins enercy saving club bur gave up after i got and still continue to get a better deal with Ovo energy. I still get their emails thpugh and do check each time.. so far its still been ovo coming out better. Despite the possibility of me getting a voucher , - which is neither herenor ther and not why i am recommending then!!) i would recommend people take a look at them

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 09:39

Sorry typing fast on phone on way to meetingBlush

Cagliostro · 19/05/2017 09:42

That happened to phoebe in friends, she craved meat when she was pregnant :o

Glad it's not just me who couldn't get on MN!

Cagliostro · 19/05/2017 09:43

British gas came up as the cheapest for us, other than some very very new company with zero reviews (so would rather not risk it). Gone for a fixed rate for a while

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2017 09:44

I did a free stake matched bet, I should earn £23 tax free later. I'll use £15 of it to join oddsmonkey premium and get access to more free bets.

Cagliostro · 19/05/2017 10:07

That's all going well fluffy well done!

Who here knows about cheap train tickets? Need to book for Sussex to Dorset, no idea how to get the cheapest option, any thoughts please?

Loveabaconsandwich · 19/05/2017 10:25

cag south west trains have a deal on at the moment until early july. Cheap single tickets something like £13 adults £5 chikdren. Check their website?

Loveabaconsandwich · 19/05/2017 10:27

I am also going to have to grovel to the doctor who I take DD to today as I need a repeat ptescription. As in I took my last tablet this morning and completely out Blush . I'm normally very organised!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/05/2017 10:30

Thank you for the recommendations folks, have had a look at Ovo Laska they are quoting me £80 a month which still seems quite high (fixed price for a year) I also looked at MSE which linked me to a company called Affect Energy which is quoting me £70 a month. There was another company that was slightly cheaper but like Cag said it is very very new and no reviews etc.

Think will probably go with Affect, thank you Laska will let you know if I change my mind though!! Annoyingly I have been trying to get onto the Scottish Power website this morning but for some reason its down Hmm want to check my usage and put meter readings in.

My car insurance is going to due for renewal soon as well!!

Day off today thank goodness!! Need to catch up with house work and pop out to get my dad something for his bday, am planning a strict £20 budget as have no money left in my account atm. Need to do an inventory of what food we have and work out if I can eek it out next week till payday. Cupboards and freezer fairly well stocked so should be do'able. Have joined a fb group called 'reduce your supermarket spends' which I am finding quite useful for spotting deals.

The Sainsburys TU 25% sale apparently starts next Tuesday which is good, dd needs a raincoat and i could do with some new t.shirts for when we go away over half term.

June is looking like it will be quite spendy, the cattery is going to be £72, getting the carpets cleaned £40 (they really need it,) moving the sofa approx £30, holiday approx £50 spending money plus got a few bdays oh and the MOT is due!!! Life is too expensive Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2017 10:39

Try mse tickety split.

I've been saving nectar points for some premium black jeggings.

Laska5772 · 19/05/2017 11:18

And am in credit

mammymammyIRL · 19/05/2017 11:31

Dentist not too bad €50
Then went and bought myself new runners €142.50 wasn't eligible for parkrun discount as they were reduced from €170 to €150 so he gave me student discount of 5%. Put them on credit card but I'm going to put €12 - €15 weekly against it to clear them off it asap. Going to track my miles on them too.
Guy in shop also told me parkrun discount doubles one month in the year so going to watch out for that.
Beauticians now €7
I'm off today & Monday as au pair is away, getting chores done while ds at playschool mon will be eyetest & grocery shopping

Girlie that's a lot of expenses and all on your own too Sad

I had a few minutes to spare so I got meat for the week €25, will probably stretch it to 10 days with what's at home.

Laska that's funny about turning non veggies

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/05/2017 11:33

Yeah I suppose they look at the max I will spend, what I actually use/ spend is less iyswim. Currently spending £60 a month but most of that is gas usage as I don't like to be cold Wink my electric usage I think is fairly low. Will go via MSE I think.

Have been quite productive this morning, MOT not due till July so thats good but car insurance is due mid June. Have changed my NMC fee to quarterly rather than yearly and have started to think about revalidation.

Need to get off my bum now though and do some actual tiding and stuff Grin

ememem84 · 19/05/2017 13:03

ChristmasSeacow · 19/05/2017 13:14

Lost a long post last night, will try again later! Just waiting to see the midwife and not sure whether I am parked legally (funny space at the end of a road). Fingers crossed.

MeadowHay · 19/05/2017 13:20

Cag I get my cheap train tickets from the train line. They have really good deals and you can mess about with times/dates easily to find the cheapest options. I also made a massive fuck-up last time by accidentally not taking the debit card I paid with and therefore needed to retrieve our tickets at the station before we went to London Blush and DH called them and the customer service was excellent, they let me just give permission for DH to speak on my behalf because of my anxiety, and then quickly switched it so we could use any debit card to retrieve the tickets from the machine, it was all sorted in about 5 minutes, we were very impressed and they were really friendly and nice.

Off to uni in a sec for revision session with my mentor. Spent £24 at Superdrug online on toiletries and cosmetics, got a lot for my money though.

Cagliostro · 19/05/2017 14:15

Thanks all! Will have a check of all those.
