I quite like the one Monica tricks Chandler with in Friends. Jiminy Billy-Bob.

ememem84 · 15/05/2017 16:31

That's a winner. Jiminy-billy-bob. Or something with a fuckton of apostrophes. Our surname has an apostrophe.

I initially thought of d'Jeawn or d'Marcus

ememem84 · 15/05/2017 16:32

wreck that's a usual occurance for us here. Last week three jersey cows got out of their field at "rush hour and caused absolute havoc for people tying to get to work from the east of the island. Haha!

SnugglySnerd · 15/05/2017 16:48

Fluffy that happened to me last year, it was a right pain. The git had been on a spree buying things in Armani and the like so I think it stood out a bit from my usual £50 in Asda spends.

Laska5772 · 15/05/2017 16:59

Yay em !!! I think you should seriously consider L'roi D'arcy as a really cool name Smile

SunnyLikeThursday · 15/05/2017 18:25

Good stuff Em. It's lovely to hear your glowing posts. Smile

We had a bit of progress here. We had our weekly trip to ds's stupendously expensive private dentist. The dentist had just been doing easy things so far but today he sand-blasted ds's tooth with a hoover in his mouth too, and ds got on with it okay. He looked a bit perplexed at having a mouthful of gritty toothpaste stuff, but really put up with it for a long time. That was a big step forward for a guy who once couldn't tolerate sounds like that at all. £100, but well worth it.

ds had his first SAT exam this morning too, so it's been quite a day. Comprehension, apparently.

WreckTangled · 15/05/2017 18:32

Dd doesn't have her sats until next week which I don't understand as surely the questions will get out? I know my friends dd has hers this week too.

SunnyLikeThursday · 15/05/2017 18:46

Yes that's a bit funny. I don't think it would make much difference to ds if the questions got out though. I tried doing a past paper with him and the problems weren't things that could be fixed by seeing the questions in advance. It was all stuff like this:

Mum: So this says "circle 1/3 of the skittles" and there are 15 skittles.
ds: It's 6.
Mum: Are you sure?
ds: Yes i have a million brains, of course I'm sure.
Mum: Shall we think about what 1/3 means?
ds: No.

I have no idea what the government thinks it's doing trying to give a timed test paper to children of this age. They may as well ask a snail to balance a ball on its nose.

LonelyOversharer · 15/05/2017 19:01

Oh em how very exciting! And a boy, fab I guessed right! It was 50/50 though
fluffy ffs that is a pain.
Spends today £10 in the butchers, £6 in the spar (coop being refitted, how dare they) but dd1 needs her lunch money topped up, so that will be £40.
Dd3 is being offered Septembers residential (lake district, worth it) as y6 is so small, she will be a y5; so will get to go twice, dd1 did too. So £10 deposit, and £240 more to pay. She will love it, but I hope they keep an eye on her, she's very random.
Hope your dd got off ok girlie it makes me a bit sick watching them go.

I can't remember mine getting tested at 7 for sats, but our school is super low key, they probably did them without the kids even realising they were being tested.

Work tonight, dress to make and quilt to start cutting tomorrow.
My garden is loving the rain. The dogs, not so much.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/05/2017 19:13

Sunny Grin so funny, have had similar conversations with dd!!

Awesome news Em beautiful baby boy Bear so pleased for you, have now changed my guess for Cags baby to a girl though Grin

Hows your leg today Need?

Hope your dd is o.kay Wreck you seem to have had a bad run of illness.

So dd went off fine this morning, I had a bit of a wibble on the way to work but am fine now!! Weird not having to rush out of work to go and get her though. Decided last night that she has hay fever which is why she is still coughing and sneezing a fair bit, also the classic itchy eyes. Annoying as that is obv going to be a seasonal thing now.

Laska5772 · 15/05/2017 19:13

Cream crochet Toms are fab! I should have just gone for them in the first place.rather than messing around
All other shoes ( except cheap tkmaxx gold slides) returned

needastrongone · 15/05/2017 19:15

In my experience, high schools take no notice of SAT's anyway. They test them after the first term in Y7 and go from there. I know this is very hard not to do, but please try not to get too worried about SATs, there's a myriad of other stuff far more important in primary. Plus, they learn at different rates. DS was always a high achiever, DD took until the end of Y6 to start to catch up, then shone in high school. I know this is easier said than done! Smile

Whoop whoop Em, a little boy, and most importantly, all is well!!! Fab. xx

Bastards Fluffy, good that fraud were on it quickly and you were not inconvenienced too much.

Seacow I could say many things about F&B paint (It's DH's industry, sort of) but I shall refrain...

I've given back word on 3 peaks but the hammie is loads better. But not better enough iyswim?

Dpony is worrying me as his other hind leg is swelling up, due to taking too much strain so I've bought stable wraps and dressing to provide extra support and upped his Bute, on vets advice. Poor love, my heart breaks for him.

Work is busy. Wore my Superga's and have had nothing but compliments Smile

Spends.
£50 pony stuff to help.
£27 race entry.

Can I be proud? Had my hammie not gone and I maintained my pace (which I would have done, I was feeling good and was on mile 11 of 13.1), I would have been 3rd in my age category at the half yesterday out of 266 in that category. I was 10th as it happens but this was a big city race so I'm really chuffed with my progress. Sorry if that sounds braggy but running is really important to me and I'm surprised I have the times in me still.

Sorry, just needed to say it.

needastrongone · 15/05/2017 19:16

Cross post with Girlie, I'm so glad DD was okay, it messes with your routine though doesn't it?

Love 'em Laska, really do!

WreckTangled · 15/05/2017 19:19

I know girlie. They're rarely ill then it all comes at once. Glad dd went off ok.

Laska I love them! I couldn't wear them though so am Envy

Well done need! Can't say I'm bothered about SATs. Dd is academic anyway but even if she wasn't I think they're unnecessary and would tell her not to worry.

Coppersulphate · 15/05/2017 19:38

Em, wow, little baby Emlet is a boy. So pleased even if I did guess a girl. Still, I was nearly right. Only wrong by one!😀💙💙💙
Oh dear Need, poor DPony. Hope he is ok.
Cag, PIP til 2021. Well that fantastic and a great weight off your mind I'm sure. Can you get a blue badge now so ifyounare in a friend's car they can park conveniently for you.
Fluffy, I agree bastards. How did they get hold of the card? Did you lose it or did they access the number?
Good luck with your exam Meadow. I'm sure you will do well as you have worked hard and deserve a good mark.
Had a big shock today. Got my water bill for the next 12 months through. My direct debit has gone from £23 per month to £56 per month. I mean, how can they do that. DP thinks I may have a leak but I don't think so. It has just gone up. Anybody else in the same boat? 😥😥😥😥

Coppersulphate · 15/05/2017 19:39

Glad DD got off ok Girlie.
My little DGD is going and will be away while DGS is having his surgery. I'm sure she will love it and be safe.

Cagliostro · 15/05/2017 19:49

Well done need :)
Yikes at that water increase copper! :(
Thanks re: the PIP - I keep looking at the letter in case I've read it wrong! I was wondering about the blue badge, I definitely would have if my dad was still driving. I'll think about it though as might be worth having for the odd occasion I get a lift somewhere :)
In the meantime I'm sorting out other stuff - I'll be at the library tomorrow photocopying and scanning my award letter, and then I'll be applying for the bus pass etc.

Danger. One of my favourite online stores, The Happy Puzzle Company, has a sale on... at least it's DS' birthday soon in August so I can put the things aside for that. My little nerd :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/05/2017 19:51

I'd suspect a leak too Copper. Are you doing anything different?.

The card never leaves the house, I've emailed boden but they've said they haven't had any issues.

Obviously I'll never shop with them using a debit card, cc all the way now.

Brag away need.
Some excellent name choices there em. You could just go the whole hog and call him Tolkien.
Love the Tom's laska
And the coos. Don't get that round here and I do miss cows.
£5 cubs, sent my book back for free, £32 in sainsbury. Got dh Epsom salt for his legs as he decided to run a marathon distance yesterday

Laska5772 · 15/05/2017 20:06

I still think cag is having a boy!!

fluffy my card was cloned and they spent £600 in Tescos in Sheffield twice andthen booked fights and a luxury hotel in Dubai!.. I got the lot back no botherwithin the hour in fact.. The funny thing was that I then got the flight details through the post so had their namesand passport numbers. I tipped the Card company off.. , I still wonder if the police were waiting as they came back through the airport..I ruddy well hope so.

copper the same happened to me last year Southern Water.they wouldnt budge so I told them where to stick it and now pay by 6 monthly bill. (What i did was save up the old dd amount plus 10%) each month and when the bill came I had about 5% over the correct metered amount! Shows how they try and fool you.. They were really not happy that I cancelled my DD but so what?

More in a bit - Im looking a something up on Happy Puzzle before Ipost about it !

*need i am glad your leg is onthe mend I once snapped a tens don on holiday in Spain,,6 weeks in plaster and months of physio .. so painful , they said it hurts morethan breaking a leg.... i can belive it.

Laska5772 · 15/05/2017 20:09

I think mine may have been cloned in a restaurant.. always pay cash now . My I wouldnt blame Boden fluff (I think their systems are pretty good, ive shopped witht hem for years never had a prob) .. it was probably an internet fraud..

CremeEggThief · 15/05/2017 20:12

Aw that's awful, Fluffy and others who've been the victims of card fraud. At least the banks are on the ball, but it's still an awful thing to happen.

Congratulations on your DS, Em. What about A'rmani Blue?Grin

NSD.

Laska5772 · 15/05/2017 20:21

so the mention of the Happy Puzzle Company brought back some good memories of Rush Hour (great for DS (aged 10 then!) on a fight to Chicago ) They still sell it I see ..

And also these two games .. Port to Port and Triple Cross.. they dont seem to have those anymore though Sad..Ive just dug ours out , may have a go again now

Good old fashioned fun for journeys!!

Not enough apostrophes creme but A'rmar'ni that's fine. Haha

life great shout re Tolkien. Bizarrely it'd go really well with our surname. Dh wouldn't go for it though.

Traditional proper names I think are the way forward. our fave name so far is after both my grandads.

Catface is excited about her new brother. She's curled up on my lap at present.

Ooh Laska are you looking at the tempting sale as well then :o I've just eked it over £40 for free delivery - CoolCircuits puzzle and Qbitz Extreme for DS' birthday (he LOVES regular Qbitz), a word game for the family (as you can never have too many) and a 3D car puzzle pressie for one of the Caglets' friends' birthday next week. DD's birthday (next month) is basically sorted except for a particular book, which I'll get on my next Amazon order along with shoe bags (she now has 3 pairs of dance shoes - ballroom ballet and tap - so I'd like them stored nicely and easy to grab on lesson day) and a cheap maternity swimming costume :o :o
