Hello! Catching up....
Brilliant news on the PIP Cag, what a result! A very fair result, given that you had to leave your job due to your health. It's actually rather nice to get a backlog payment as you can now decide what to do with it. I couldn't get the pram link to work either (and I love a bit of baby stuff!)
Girlie apologies but I can't remember where DD is going - is it a school trip? It's a life milestone I think, going away from home for a trip for the first time.
Need I hope that leg heals quickly. You will need to think hard about the 3 peaks if it isn't 100% - I am sure you will be sensible and not risk doing yourself a further mischief!
Lonely I can't believe how much cake you made and how much work you put into the club
. I hope they appreciate you. I'll have a bit of carrot cake if you're offering
Lovely parents you have there Meadow. You'll deserve a good break after these exams.
I am completely lost in discussion of Supergas - never even heard of them! I am living vicariously through all you gardeners though - I am not a hardcore gardener but I do love pottering around putting in flowers and shrubs and keeping it neat. My garden is being very much neglected at the moment as it's not DH's thing and I can't bend down! I'll try and make up for lost time over the summer after the baby's born (and I can reach the ground again). Not excited about a likely hosepipe ban though - I expect it will suffer a lot.
On the shoe front though - I think I am going to need to get something slip on, flat and comfy to see me through the next few weeks. I'll be okay once sandal weather comes but right now it is a struggle getting boots and shoes on and off because my feet are swollen and I can't reach them either! Any ideas? Ideally something black and suitable for work but also perhaps something for casual. I've never felt I can pull off the trainer look though.
We've had a spendy weekend as we've been painting the baby's room. The feature wall colour i wanted was Farrow and Ball so I got that and then a white from their range for the other walls. The colours are lovely and soft but I wasn't impressed with the paint itself - rather watery and splashy and required at least 3 coats of white even though we were painting over a very pale colour. Annoyingly we almost managed with one tin of white but not quite, so I had to go back for another tin. That made it over £120 on paint alone for a very small room
. It's pretty much done now, apart from around the new sockets as the filler hadn't dried enough to sand down and paint. The room looks pretty good, I am really happy with it.
To finish if off a bit I tried to put the new curtain rail up but hit the lintel with the second bracket so had to stop as my drill couldn't manage it. I drilled some holes further out but still hit lintel so I need a handyman with a chuff-off drill to come and finish the job. Not frugal - sigh. And I have more holes to fill
Still, a satisfying and productive weekend. My sister did most of the work as DH is completely Kak-handed. She worked her socks off and was a complete star
. I helped as much as I could. I was a bit pissed off with DH yesterday though as I came down to the kitchen at 7pm and it was still a mess from the breakfast pancakes I had made for DS and DH (which he's supposed to clear up) and from DS's dinner. He'd watched the football and was then watching Dr Who. So after all that painting etc I had to clean the kitchen up before even starting to cook dinner. And I could barely stand up. I was very unimpressed. He got the message and has made a bit more effort today. Hmm.
