That's really interesting Laska. I hadn't thought of looking for Jeans in Sainsburys. I must try that.

I really need to get some new clothes and I'm stumped to be honest.

Usually I just find something that looks okay and then buy 5 copies and wear them in rotation, but my Edinburgh Woollen Mill jumper has been discontinued, my M&S t-shirt has shrunk so it doesn't reach my trousers and isn't made now, and Next have discontinued my trousers.

I'm 5'10" and a size 12 if anybody has any good ideas. I'd like a blue fitted v-neck t-shirt, a pair of black jeans, and a polo neck jumper in blue or grey. All long and able to be tumble dried.

I usually pay a fiver for a t-shirt, £20 for jeans and £14 for a jumper, and buy five of each. Job done.

Em Does this make you laugh? I'm the same physical type as you, but my taste in clothes is hilariously different.

LonelyOversharer · 10/05/2017 22:13

Just had a good 3 page catch up. Been awol, working and a time trial tonight, that went really well. I also took my rollerblades and skated the half mile to the finish (it makes it exactly 10 miles) to do the timings. Got a lot of "what is that old lady doing on those" looks. I care not. The all ate my cake though!

Spent quite a bit on patchwork fabric, but needs must if I'm going to get the quilt done. Just need it all to arrive.

Dd2 is looking so tired, she has quite enjoyed her exams, but I can see they're wiping her out. Last one tomorrow.

I find clothes don't shrink anymore. I always wash at 40°. I wear gap jeans and love them.

Guess from me is you are both having boys cag and em I didn't know to ask when I had dd1, but saw a lot of 'stuff' between her legs. Needless to say my baby girl had a lot of boyish looking clothes!! It was umbilical cord. I always asked after that.

I badly need some hair chopped off. It's stupidly long (like down to my hips). But I am so irrationally scared of hairdressers. Would it class as frugal if I got dp to do it?

mammymammyIRL · 10/05/2017 22:27

Caught up to here but heading to bed.

Sunny this is just a suggestion but it's possibly your dryer that's shrinking your clothes not the repeated washing. I have found condition of our clothes aren't deteriorating as quickly since we stopped using dryer towels are like sandpaperGrin

I didn't find out sex of either baby.
I think both girls though for you guys though

Bought a taco stand & stuff set in Aldi at weekend - made this mini quiches with four of the shells - smell so good egg/cottage cheese/pepper/scallion/spinach/ham/tomato topped with a little grated cheese.
Remaining shells will serve dc & dh for dinner with the smoky BBQ chicken I prepped ahead for tomo. I'll have a wrap/rice with mine as I'll have eaten some of the mini quiches for lunch.

Possibly. Not sure I'd always want my Dh near me with scissors.

I find marks' shrinks too. My pyjama bottoms fitted until the first wash, now they skim over my ankle bones Hmm

I agree with girl for Em, boy for Cag.
NSD here, thankfully.
I tend to buy traditional stuff in M&S but I can only shop for short periods or I get fed up and come home, and I hate trying anything on. Like Sunny I just buy more of the same if I like them but in different colours.
Sunny, there are lots of online Maths sites that are good. DGD has homework on these sites and does it on the iPad. I think the school must have an account or something.

ememem84 · 10/05/2017 22:49

sunny I wouldn't tumble all clothes.

If yours roughly the same size as me I'd try primark for jeans if you want skinnies.

I buy basic tshirts from warehouse and Oasis. They wash well and are usually soft soft soft.

I tend to buy the same thing in different colours. I have a simple chiffon type top for work in cream, black, navy and dark red. It suits me as do the colours so figured it was worth having more than one. Ditto jeans. Same pair just multiple pairs. Easy to do when they're only £10 a go.

And also shoes. The wedges I bought the other day are in grey with a sparkly thread running through, tan and cream. All similar.

But if it ain't broke...

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/05/2017 23:05

Mammy yes it's definitely the dryer. I've put the new M&S ones in the airing cupboard. That's partly why I'm so glad I can wear them for a few days as putting trousers through the wash every day really makes a lot of work, especially air drying.

Fluffy glad it's not just me.

That's really interesting to know that you do that too Em, but in different colours. I'll have to think about that. I'll have a look at warehouse and oasis. Thanks for that!

It's straight leg jeans I'm looking for really. Skinnies look odd on me.

I'm test driving an electric car tomorrow and I'm quite nervous. The last one I test drove rocked from side to side and made no reassuring engine noise, and gave me a distinct case of the weebles. I'm hoping this one is better tomorrow as dh really wants to buy one. Fingers crossed.

MeadowHay · 10/05/2017 23:09

Sunny In my albeit quite short experience lol most things shrink over time when tumble-dried. Anything vaguely expensive or nice I don't tumble dry unless label expressly says you can (which seem rare to me). We sorta have to tumble-dry everything else because of living in a flat we don't have anywhere to hang washing outside. I also find that clothes can surprise me, some things last far longer than I was expecting and tumble-dry really well and other things get ruined very quickly, there doesn't seem to be any real pattern to it for me. I would suggest having a look at everything5pounds.com, TK Maxx, Dorothy Perkins, Quiz, and H&M (but not for jeans as they fade so quickly). Loads of my clothes are from Dorothy Perkins as they constantly have sales on so I can buy them cheap and they seem to last quite well considering.

Spent 79p on a brownie today from the SU shop after work. Was hungry and felt like I deserved a treat Blush.

I need to get my hair cut too. I've been meaning to do it for months but my anxiety has meant I haven't managed to sort it. I just want my split ends cutting off and maybe layers put in now my hair is getting longer. And thinning it out a bit as it's ridiculously thick. Which don't get me wrong is a good thing, but unmanageable and now it's getting warmer, sweaty!

Em I absolutely love the fake names. Grin

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/05/2017 23:26

Meadow Yes, I figure everything will, except if I buy entirely man made stuff, which in trousers I think would be too cold. I have some really nice home made polyester moleskin ones that look amazing but they are very chilly. Thanks for the tips.

Cagliostro · 11/05/2017 04:46

Love the fake names em 😂😂

Booo can't sleep. Feel a bit chilly and sneezy. But don't think it's enough to warrant the antibiotics, it's just remnants of a cold.

Last full day today, not sure what we will be doing though! Hopefully not spending much although this is the one day we are trying the on site catering.

Hmmm so majority voting boy eh? :o That's reassuring about the scans snuggly thanks, I really do want to keep it a surprise. If I can be patient enough. :)

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/05/2017 06:24

Ugh. I had a rubbish night sleep.
Not sure about as long babies. I think girl for em and cag I haven't got a feeling yet. Which will most likely not be right as it's 50/50.

I have started buying multiple of what I love too as I find it so hard to buy things I like/think look good.

Nsd planned today but no gym either. Going back sugar free as started eating stuff I used to and feel grim

WreckTangled · 11/05/2017 06:58

Laska I hate sponsoring people plus it was rude of her to do it like that.

My current skinny jeans are asda and gap. Love them equally.

Need tampons and car parking today Grin the dc are still asleep!

needastrongone · 11/05/2017 07:21

Was wondering how you were life, I didn't get on yesterday to check.

Spends yesterday were £10 total, today will be similar.

Hope the SATS are going okay for those affected.

Hope any car shopping goes well, in addition to clothes shopping.

laska, I'm the same as you, Next is bloody awful and has been for a while, all massive nylon prints and middle aged looking clothes. Seems to have really lost its way.

needastrongone · 11/05/2017 07:22

meadow. Could you get someone to come to you to cut your hair, if that helps?

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/05/2017 07:33

Laska I think it was naughty re the sponsor form but the person probably didn't think past having a captive audience. I would have passed it along if it was people ifelt comfortable with but if it is a senior meeting I would have felt obliged as you seen to have.

Crap in one word need. It's neither nowt nor summat but is causing me to have that low level feeling bleurg and no gym. Grr.

ememem84 · 11/05/2017 07:43

laksa bad form the the sponsorship form. One came round our work a while ago all £200's and £100's for so and sos son to go off to Africa and help the children by climbing Kilimanjaro.

I asked how it was helping the kids. And how much money the charity was getting. Turns out the sponsorship also covered his flights. He needed to raise £5000 £2500 of which went to the charity. I declined and instead donated £20 to the charity on his behalf myself.

I'm all for far flung travel and experiences and helping others. But not at my (or a charity's) expense.

I have a friend who's tracking to Everest base camp later this year in aid of autism. She is currently fund raising and has made a point on all her fund raising things to note that she's paid for travel and accommodation herself. All money raised will go to the charity.

LonelyOversharer · 11/05/2017 07:57

Only just getting going and so far spent £14 on concert tickets for dd1 &2, and £11 on 6 more eggs (cream legbar this time) as we only hatched one from the last 6, plus two of our own, so 3 chicks. We have 2 viable in the incubator, so will fill the gaps as it's on anyway for those 2 eggs.

My dress fabric arrived yesterday, so I'll start to cut it out today. I've got so much to do before the end of the month. Really can't have a slow day.

Plus, plus, I'm under 10 stone! That's by 0.1lb (stupidly accurate garmin scales), but that's my watermark weight. Under 10 stone = great, over = sluggish, feel a bit crap. My bmi is now 22. I yo yo through the year, but two years ago I was well into the 'overweight' category on the nhs website. It was a wake up call.

Right, must do the dc's lunch. Another glorious day here. This might be the week of summer.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/05/2017 08:03

Were the kids being held hostage at the summit?.

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/05/2017 08:08

Blimey em that really is cheeky I wouldn't have wanted to sponsor someone going off on a jolly with only 50% going to charity

Get well soon poorly frugaleers

Well done lonely, getting to your ideal weight is great Star

Frugal travel mug of tea brought today. Spoilt by the purchase of a £1.65 pain au raisin Blush. Sadly I do often fall in the camp of if I don't really want to go to work, I will buy a treat to make it a little more bearable Hmm

DD got up at midnight but DPs turn to deal. DP also woke us up at 11pm jumping out of bed due to pins and needles. Tired here today.

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/05/2017 08:31

fluffy did you do some of the ridulously dull and long VO surveys yesterday? I actually gave up on one after 15 mins (which is unusual) as the promise of £1 but only 25% complete at that point. I normally have a high tolerance of dullness!

WreckTangled · 11/05/2017 08:50

Woo hoo lonely! I need to get under 9 but I just bought a galaxy ripple 😳

Am in sainsburys waiting for ds' medicine.

Laska5772 · 11/05/2017 09:07

Ive managed to avoid woman here at work touting kilamanjaro sponsor ship for her dgd ( but i did feel embarrassed as she is close work collegue and i do like her) but yes these things are often for raising expenses also.. the last sponsorship i did was Live below the Line living off £1 a day for 5 days - that was a couple of years ago and i still remember the coffee withdrawal hell (and so do workmates who begged me never to do it again) ..
need i did actually see a dress in next window ( linen blend shift) yesterday which was nice .
... but then i thought of half the office wearing it !!

Laska5772 · 11/05/2017 09:09

well done lonely sadly i have seemed to have ' stuck' on my diet .. still in the 11s ( curses!) But still 6 weeks to hols

needastrongone · 11/05/2017 09:28

Boo life, feeling crap sucks.

Brill news about your target weight lonely SmileSmile

needastrongone · 11/05/2017 09:28
