You can appeal, if you've got the energy. Banks are such fuckers.

Just seen that the perfect, part time, school term time job I'd previously applied for is being readvertised. I'd got quite a nice rejection email before interview saying that they had lots of highly qualified people apply although my experience was good but that obviously was just a cut and paste job! Still depressing though Sad . No point applying again- I don't do rejection twice

wreck in your position I'd do less of the jobs that help DH eg his clean clothes or his dinner. But I'm a bit petty like that!

I didn't take a photo, I may have accidentally drawn a bit of attention to it Blush

WreckTangled · 10/05/2017 20:35

I've tipped his clean clothes onto the sofa because I needed the washing basket... Have to do his dinner as I do everyone's dinner and I don't mind because he clears up. Only he doesn't. He puts stuff in the dw but what doesn't fit just gets left and he never wipes the sides or table Angry

That's annoying about the job. Reapply Grin no harm in trying. Maybe they got rid of all the previous applications when they interviewed so decided just to open it up again.

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 20:35

£16 haircut (and £4 tip) a fab hairdresser and so cheap! I have just bleached my own hair so back to short pixie cut white-blonde ( scary to see how grey i am though now , but sadly not nice and even so bleach the only answer...,, I have tabby patches!

£7 for 2 packs of filter coffee and some blueberries

Then annoyingly £5 ( not really wanting to) for sponsoring someone Hmm - I got a bit caught there as the person passed the form round the table at a meeting and i really couldnt be the only one who didnt sign and pay up ..And the form was all people pledging £10s and £20s and I was the first signee just to put £5..(and even that was more than i wanted to ) I really dont want to be mean but it was just for someone doing a zip wire thing so hardly endurance or anything and just to raise funds for an event... Is it just me who resents being put in a position where you feel you have no choice ..?

opinions please .. Wwyd if you have bought something and really, really like it , only to find the company (company 1) is selling it for £20 over the RRP (claiming import costs whe i asked them why) and company 2 (also in Uk) is charging only the rrp ? . first I thought I d definately send it back for a refund (but i really really like it and definately want it ) and would still lose the postage costs I paid originally and then have order it from company 2.. ?

Trouble is company 2 is just a small shop, who do charge more postage .. So in the end Its only about £15 difference.. so Suck it up and never use company 1 again? (and tell everyone on MN never to use them - Its Plumo btw - dont use them they overcharge Wink ) Half of me says oh sod it, keep it and put down to experience , and the other says do it, ..wwyd?

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 20:38

wreck if you were posting in relationships ot AIBU , they'd all be telling you to LTB!! Grin.. Id just tip all his clothesin a heap on the floor on his side of the bed..(just at the place he had to step to get in at ) Tipping it on the sofa just means that youll have to move them if youwant to sit down

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 20:41

LoveaBS just reapply.. they said your experience was good.. or you could ring them and remind then what they said in your letter and just ask if its worth previous people reapplying .. nothing lost ..

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/05/2017 20:44

Laska is the hassle worth £15 to you for sending it back/reordering

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 20:52

I suppose its just the principle .. I did enjoy destroying their stupid arguments with logic over a few emails where their excuses and financial justifications got more and more ridiculous and pathetic.. I think I got the MD in the end who really did seem rather (posh but) dim (which somehow made it more satisfying evil mare that I am )Perhaps thats enough..

Loveabaconsandwich · 10/05/2017 20:52

Ha ha, I almost typed my first LTB wreck and laska but wasn't sure if we did that here Shock

I've just gone back and looked at the rejection email again. Really was more generic than I remembered. I dunno, will think about reapplying as I'd revamped my application for a similar job and it was better, although I still lack their desireable qualification

WreckTangled · 10/05/2017 20:53

Laska I'm in bed! I feel bad moaning because he does do stuff around the house and he does work hard it's just the small every day bits which he doesn't do so I end up doing it on top of everything else. Hmm I would send it back for £15 back!

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/05/2017 21:08

I've found out the weirdest frugal thing this week.

Normally I buy Next jeans and I find that they need washed every day because they kind of smell worn after that, iykwim. It means I have to own 4 pairs and do lots of washing, and then they shrink and wear out fast from being washed a lot.

Well anyway, this week I bought M&S jeans for the first time and they can go three days without smelling worn, and still seem clean and brand new. It really is a big difference, as I can own fewer pairs, and it's less washing to do and pay for, and less wear and tear from washing, so makes a huge difference.

The great question is - will they shrink to be too short after washing? I've always bought Next as they go up to a 33" leg, and M&S only go up to a 31" leg. If they shrink, they'll not be wearable. Suspense!

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 21:14

BTW that £16 at hairdresser covered wash, conditioner, head massage cut, blow dry ( not that theres much to do on a pixie cut!!) and hair gel/ product. plus cup of tea! .. I used to go to the Aveda salon up the road and it cost over £45 a time, which is a lot when you have such short hair which really should have regular cut every 4/5 weeks to keep in shape ..

Bargain!!

Yeah... Ill keep the dress. . it would be a pain .. and writing it down has made me see it would be a fairly pyrrhic victory really.. (and it was kinda fun winding them up anyway , and they have had to go to the bother of sending me out a returns bag and lable.. I may just send that back with their catalogue in it Grin) ..

So what do you think all about the sponsorship thing? Was I chugged? .. I wished i could just said 'no thanks' , but Im not good at that ..

SnugglySnerd · 10/05/2017 21:20

Cag I had fortnightly scans with a screen visible in every single one and I didn't spot the sex!

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 21:22

That is kid of weird sunny (is it because of man made fibres in the fabric do you think ? ) .. Im totally off Next anyway ,I never see much I like in there and they have so much polyester , and then if you ever do find something nice it seems everyone is wearing it ..

I have some M&S straight leg jeans, havent ever noticed they shrink.. I usually get the regular which I thought was 31..Maybe its not, are yours the long?

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 21:23

Cag is having a boy also I reckon..

ememem84 · 10/05/2017 21:24

£42 at hairdressers. But necessary. Had about 4 inches chopped off. Yay. Much tidier.

Have done so much this evening. One load of washing on, have thrown all stuff back in its proper places, washing up (2 lots), baked 18 cupcakes for Fridays bake sale and have made a bowl of frosting for piping on tomorrow.

Told dh if it's a girl he'll have to learn how to french plait in case I'm not around to do hair for school one day. Haha! He said if it's a boy he'll deal with potty training as he has a willy and I don't so therefore can't teach a boy to pee and I have to deal with periods of it's a girl. Makes sense I suppose....

Dh told mil this morning if baby is a girl we're calling it shaniqua and if it's a boy D'Jeawn. not chosen names

In reality we're going for naming "it" after grandparents. So traditional sensible classic names.

ememem84 · 10/05/2017 21:25

I think cags will be a girl.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/05/2017 21:26

That would have really irritated me Laska and I think its flipping cheeky to hand a form round like that tbh.

Loveabaconsandwich · 10/05/2017 21:32

I wouldn't have liked it either laska. Although I did use a similar technique to get PIL to cough up some sponsorship money once. Not proud.

Loveabaconsandwich · 10/05/2017 21:33

GrinGrin em DH

What was her response?

SunnyLikeThursday · 10/05/2017 21:35

Yes mine are the long length Laska. I used to always buy M&S years ago and they always shrank and left an inch of ankle showing. I thought all my Christmasses had come at once when Next started making longer ones. I buy long in Next too, as Next extra long is actually too long for me.

Sadly Next are now only making what used to be called drainpipe trousers now in jeans and I look comical in them.

I have tried a 20 minute wash on the M&S ones and am waiting to see.

Laska5772 · 10/05/2017 21:42

Actually my most worn jeani/.jeggings are from Sainsburys! Really rate them for longevity (and they are cheap) ..

I dont find much I like in M&S these days either (except their minimiser bras, socks and 5 packs of knickers) ....It all seems so old fashioned/ or just wrong (and im 60 this year!!)..

Now H&M.. I have found some good stuff in there (esp their basic tops ) , but you do have to look ..

AuditAngel · 10/05/2017 21:45

Hi all, yes, it is my kids that do all the dancing shows. Nothing professional on the cards until after the summer (have done 3 weeks of Joseph and a week of Evita so far this year). A private event at Hampton Court this month and a cabaret at the Dorchester next month.

Had an amazing parent's evening for DS (year 8, but August born), he is very bright, but pretty lazy. All positive comments, some amazing ones. His Spanish teacher has him doing GCSE past papers already, is going to give him Soanish teenage books to read.

His PE teacher wants him to join the trampolining club. His music teacher wants him to take singing lessons Shock

Spends £33 in Tesco, milk, coffee pods, lunches, dinner for tonight (turkey breast roast) piece of steak for DH for tomorrow (£2.68) when I'm out for work dinner. £10 for girls' karate class.

DD1 has had a great year, she travelled to the karate European championships last month, her first main competition NSD she got a bronze.

ememem84 · 10/05/2017 21:45

love I don't think she was happy....

But she'd been bugging him for weeks to find out names so I told him to just make some up! Haha! He made up good ones.

Getting nails done tomorrow then that's it for my un frugal week.
