Oh fuck fuck. Does anyone know (em??) if the passport validity rules spot if you're just transitioning through an airport and staying air side? I thought I was fine as NZ only require a month on your passport but Thailand requires six!

ChristmasSeacow · 22/03/2017 10:53

Eek, not sure Wreck. I've always gone with 6m+ just in case, whatever the policy. Can you ask the Thai embassy? How long till you go?

New dentist was lovely yesterday. Cracked tooth fixed up, lecture delivered and accepted Grin. My jaw is pretty painful today as my mouth isn't very big so I had to have it open to the max for an hour. I felt as though I might get stuck like it! They didn't charge me, just asked me to phone through with details when my maternity exemption thing comes through. So that was nice.

Thanks for all the reassurances re. DS. He bounced back from his nosebleed trauma okay and went to nursery. He was fine but a bit tearful at bedtime, probably over tired.

Housework and paperwork today. It's grey and drizzly here, not very inspiring. Weekend forecast is for a bit of sun, I am hopeful for the return of spring. Shock at actual snow!

WreckTangled · 22/03/2017 11:48

I need six. Looks like we're going to London Saturday...

ChocolateTorte · 22/03/2017 12:11

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to join, hoping to be inspired by your frugal ways.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 22/03/2017 12:25

Oh wreck thats such a bother. I'm glad you can still get renewals turned round in a day... had to go up to Glasgow for the same reason many moons ago. My passport expired in 2012 Sad

Have end of month slip. Just went to asda for cat litter and a new bulb for my painting lightbox. Spent £40 and brought the wrong bulb. Did get dd3 and ds new school trousers, both have had a wee growth spurt. Must stop going to the bloody supermarkets. My absolute downfall.

ChristmasSeacow · 22/03/2017 12:42

chocolateTorte is always welcome, I say!

WreckTangled · 22/03/2017 12:53

chocolate welcome!!

Ipsomatic · 22/03/2017 13:19

Welcome Chocolate. Writing your name feels really good. Must remember that when choosing names.

I've had a cheap day out test driving cars. Still not sure. Very picky, it turns out.

SnugglySnerd · 22/03/2017 13:42

Seacow you've just reminded me I need to go for a filling. Ugh.

You lot are much too energetic! I've just had a big bowl of pasta and slice of cake and I'm wondering what to eat next!

Ipsomatic · 22/03/2017 14:24

I'm firmly in the non-energetic corner. I just like gardening and walks. Smile

allthebestplease · 22/03/2017 14:27

Haven't caught up yet.

If any of you have the time and would like to analyse our household spending. I've done a doc. This is just cash/debit card spending not automated stuff. The food bill is just for food and household products I don't shop in Tesco for clothes, toys etc. It also doesn't include Wine as that is bought separately. Obviously some things are one offs, such as the hotel, but then again something always crops up (this month we have to pay £75 for trees to be trimmed).
Anyway - if you could suggest ways to cut down, that would be great, or am I about right. (We aren't going into debt anymore each month).

allthebest I haven't had a proper look but...we get all our batteries in the pound shop and dh's hair cut is half the price of your dh's (and we live in an expensive area). Not that I can talk I've been rubbish with frugality recently

mammymammyIRL · 22/03/2017 15:09

First visible injury from bootcamp this morning bear crawl, gorilla crawl, duck walk, crab crawl, drag leg times all 100m followed by 200m run times 4 plus planks & hand release push ups.

Just had breakfast out with dh €16 & paid for 6 sessions of laser hair removal plus patch test €337.

Welcome chocolate
Best I will look through document later on

WreckTangled · 22/03/2017 15:36

Turned out to be a spendy day.

£1 parking
£10.99 passport photos
£4 waitrose (coffee and squash)
£39.99 sandals for Ds (budgeted for)
£128 passport Blush

Needastrongone · 22/03/2017 15:46

Ahhh crawls mammy. We need to keep comparing Bootcamp notes and sympathising with each other don't we?

Bloody hell re the passports wrecked. And the cost too, poor you.

Welcome Chocolate.

Ipso You might be in the less active camp but I reckon that gives you too much time to think, then analyse, then worry! Smile

Spends today
£19 on an renewal of my annual for for the local stately home. Brilliant value, lovely place. I would pay double this as I go at least 3/4 times a week to walk to dogs.
£40 M&S.
£30k - well, sort of. Sticking some of this years dividend straight into our pension funds. Tax efficient for both the company and for us. DH's is accessible anyway. At 55, DH is starting to think about ensuring long term stability rather than blowing it on the holiday of a life time.
£7 on my 25 mile race next Sunday.

Needastrongone · 22/03/2017 15:48

All My two spaniels get groomed every 6/8 weeks for £60 for both. Any room there for improvement? That's full clip, shampoo, ears, nails etc.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/03/2017 16:28

£20 garden wire for climbing plants, hose pipe connecter, patio cleaner, bag of crisps.
£4 gel insoles for Dh
£15 petrol.

70p lettuce.

Will look tm All.

Ipsomatic · 22/03/2017 16:44

I'm going to be a non-active Buddhist need.

MeadowHay · 22/03/2017 16:45

Need I agree about being less active and seeming to worry more, I think that's genuinely a problem for me. I always want to get more active but then I just always feel exhausted and lack motivation.

Horrible and rainy here all day. NSD. Exam was harder than I expected, I think I still did ok but didn't do myself justice if that makes sense, oh well.

Have a horrid huge mouth ulcer since yesterday that is really sore and huge -.-

allthebestplease · 22/03/2017 16:50

Great news em on the baby scan and promotion.
Need well done on the pension, I've upped my sipp to £200 a month today, (it was £100) not much but hey ho.

I like the idea of finding a cheaper dog groomers, I will shop around.
Dh haircut is offset as I get mine for free.

All ideas and thoughts welcome.

Nsd

Welcome Phoenix, I recommend you write everything down.

Needastrongone · 22/03/2017 16:51

Long at you wear the outfit ipso, that's fine with me Grin

I'm sure there's a correlation somewhere Meadow. I don't have the answers or know enough about the matter. My experiment of one is that the less I have to do, the more I analyse and worry. I don't mean I fill my days with vacuous activity for the sake of it, but I'm better being occupied, physically or mentally.

My DF worries about everything now. He directly blames being retired and having far more time. It used to drive him mad when his own mother did the same, now he understands it, if doesn't like it!

Just musing really while cooking chilli and doing chores.

Needastrongone · 22/03/2017 16:53

Or stretch one extra week between grooms? That might save one groom at year, or £80 All? Smile

CremeEggThief · 22/03/2017 16:58

MeadowHay, if you have fatigue-related health conditions, you shouldn't do any high impact stuff. I'm naturally quite a high impact, sprinter-rather-than-distance type, but I've been advised strongly to stick to low impact exercise since I was diagnosed with CFS. I love Pilates and try to walk 1-3 miles a day at a brisk pace. I also like gentle Hatha Yoga, but I find it hard to find a regular class, due to work and being a non-driver. Swimming is also good, although I can't bear it, personally.

Ouch at passport costs, Wreck, but it's worth it to take away the worry. I've just had passport photos taken this afternoon too, for £7.99. Other spends today were £4.80 extra bus fare and £1 on a 4 pack of Bounty bars which I might not even share with DS.

Welcome Chocolate.
