Another northerner here meadow. We're in Lancashire which is home for me. Dh was born & bred in Plymouth but loves it up here. His family are all still there so hence our frequent visits to Devon & Cornwall.
wreck hope you get the marks out of the carpet

Good day here, both our football teams won so a happy house too! I've just listed a few more items on eBay to finish next Sunday so fingers crossed.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/03/2017 21:18

All I have a Claud Butler bike and love it, dd had one as well and it was fab, she unfortunately outgrew it!!

Had a busy day, working actually it wasn't too bad, better than ystd anyway! As dd is at her Granddads took the opportunity to go to the cinema tonight with my mum, we saw Hidden Figures which was very good and thought provoking. Mum paid so today has been a NSD.

I also got my council tax bill today, annoyed as its gone up Angry

Snuggly i have never considered that twins could be conceived a week apart

Wreck kids are designed to drive you nuts, its a true fact buy the chocolate.

AdoraBell · 11/03/2017 22:26

£2 on bus to next town, collecting parcel from a Post Office. I walked back.

£1.70 on cake, coffee was "free" with a loyalty card, and badly needed after my walk in the wrong bloody footwear.

Then £9 odd on fruit & veg, £2 on chocolate for DDs.

Wreck hope you can get that mark out of the carpet. I've used nail varnish remover on carpet, still don't know what DDs had got on the carpet Hmm

I'm a Londoner to the core and still miss it, as well as missing Chile. I am getting used to Somerset, slowly.

Ipsomatic · 11/03/2017 22:54

Wreck I know what you mean about carpet pile. Now I think about it, ours couldn't be snipped either.

Will you let us know how I goes? I'm mighty nosey to hear what works. I suppose there is some kind of magic stick available in tesco.

I'm all excited about all this Brexit stuff and the possibility of another Scottish referendum. It all seems bonkers to me. I wish the Westminster parliament system was less bonkers. It seems as though we keep voting for the answers to the wrong questions and getting more and more mired in chaos.

Also quietly excited about buying a cheap (frugal) car and hoping it doesn't turn out to be some kind of epic error.

ememem84 · 12/03/2017 07:18

Hoping for nsd today. One of my eBay items has sold. I had it on fixed price or best offer. The person offered £1 more than the fixed price. So obviously I've accepted this.

Hoping the rest of my stuff sells.

Facetimed dh last night. He took zero pictures at the wedding. 😭 But had a great time. It was a lovely day and the bride and groom looked beautiful and very handsome apparently. Bil mentioned me in his speech apparently too. Said how grateful he was that dh had travelled across and how sad they were that I hadn't been able to make it. They toasted to me too. 😀

Dinner was lovely last night. The family got through 3 bottles of wine. I had sparkling water and squash. They are all my risotto and salads. Yay! And dsis brought me books. Yay!!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/03/2017 08:06

Spendy day yesterday as predicted but haven't added it up. Talking in laws out for lunch today for birthday so no cheap.

Sold some bits on eBay and posted yesterday. Rest finish today.

Need to food shop and change ds school shoes.

northender · 12/03/2017 08:28

Glad your meal went well Em
Cooking lamb shoulder for lunch today and my Aunty is coming over. Going to do Delia's Apple and mincemeat sponge pudding too.
1 item ending on eBay today but doesn't look like it's going to sell so will re list it or split it up into smaller lots. 3 lots starting today, all of which I think will sell. All our selling proceeds are going into our driveway fund along with the council tax gap months money £400 so far.
Need to start working on the garden really but the ground is sodden, we need a good spell of dry weather to help it along.

Cagliostro · 12/03/2017 08:40

Em yay glad your risotto was good! I now want risotto.

Well done everyone for ebaying (autocorrect keeps changing that to 'ensuing' 🙄) I really need to list stuff on Facebook, I was good yesterday and sent some stuff to the charity shop. There are loads of books I feel like we haven't made use of properly yet but TBH I need to just accept it ain't gonna happen and get some cash for them instead (pretty easy when you know heaps of other home edders who as a community - I include myself here - are always hungry for cheap books!). I'm also getting quite aware that we may be moving in the next year (please!!!) and I don't want to move more stuff than necessary. TBH we have got into a better habit of library usage now that we go same time every Thursday, so plenty of opportunity to borrow what we don't have.

WreckTangled · 12/03/2017 08:43

Just spoke to inlaws. So excited!

Have some stuff ending on eBay tonight fingers crossed I get some money.

Going out for food today with clubcard exchange. And going to see my nan as its her birthday.

Eeeek wreck not long now!! As much as I hate visiting nz because of mil I do love it out there. It's so beautiful. And I always feel strangely "free".

I'm still in bed. And am rather decadently eating scrambled eggs on toast. In bed. Made by moi. Why not right??

Face timed dh today. Hes looking forward to coming home. It's been a bit of a tough trip.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 12/03/2017 09:07

Had a leaving do for someone at work and I was in charge of speech at dinner, had a great speech planned but got emotional and had to stop in case I cried Blush it was a nice meal though;
Trip went really well, we saw Twelfth Night with Tamsin Greig at the National Theatre, it was absolutely incredible, one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. The kids all loved it, I could see they were properly focused on it, on the edge of their seats and laughing at all the jokes. So worth all the paperwork and the late night.
Have a lot of admin to do today, and meeting a colleague who is struggling for a coffee to discuss how he might manage better.
I am off to Sicily on a school trip on Saturday for a week, I'm the main leader so again a lot of work to do. Have never been though, so it will be exciting.

Cagliostro · 12/03/2017 10:05

Oooh I'm jealous! Twelfth Night is my fave Shakespeare and I LOVE Tamsin being a huge fan of Green Wing and Black Books! Envy

MeadowHay · 12/03/2017 10:15

Hello all. Today should be NSD. Staying home & catching up with uni work & chores and rest. I have had three super busy days, I am so proud of myself. Haven't managed three full days like that since September Shock. Yesterday DH and I went to volunteer with the refugees again, we sorted clothing donations for them and played with the kids, and I had some chats with people who need housing & asylum advice, eek. Got a meeting with the centre manager on Monday about how we can better structure activities for the kids. Then we went to our local independent cinema for dinner and watched Hidden Figures as they had a deal on for £3 tickets for under-25s. Film was amazing, we both enjoyed it so much, would recommend it very strongly.

Peonies Is going abroad on school trips still like a little holiday for you or is just super hard work? Like do you actually get to enjoy yourself at all or is it just all tiring and stressful lol?

North Lancashire! Not far from Merseyside. Grin I actually briefly lived in St. Helens as a toddler.

WreckTangled · 12/03/2017 10:26

MissA that sounds great!

I bought new trainers. Need them for NZ and got into childrens sizes. I love them.

CUTe trainers!

I'm still in bed. Went back to sleep.

Ah well. It's chucking down with rain here so it's an afternoon of pottering about maybe doing something about the spare room wardrobe then tv. And leftover risotto for lunch. Yay. Or humous. Humous on toast. Mmmm.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/03/2017 11:25

I've just had white bloomer, hummous and beetroot salad. Let yum.

Lots spent on food shopping. £130 ish. But some clothes in there. Sainsbury have some nice stuff this season but i will wait for 25% event.

SnugglySnerd · 12/03/2017 11:54

Sicily will be amazing, MissA, enjoy!

So far today we haven't thought of anything we need so we might manage an NSD! We also had a much better night's sleep so we're all feeling a bit brighter. I've even managed to make soup!

Comedy cat moment this morning - he was asleep on top of an armchair, fell down the back of it and landed on a bookcase behind the chair. Then realised he was stuck. I was laughing too much to help. He is now sulking on my lap!

Ipsomatic · 12/03/2017 12:00

I went out to get the car washed this morning so it would be nice for photos if we sell it. It was £15 but the car is now extremely clean.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 12/03/2017 13:08

meadow our pupils are generally very well behaved and lovely so it is fun taking them away but I do find I don't sleep very well on trips as I feel constantly "on duty" - it's a great way to see the world though!
I've been to Poland, Turkey, Italy and Greece so far on trips.
It's a lot of extra work organising it on top of teaching but worth it in the end.
Can't believe I'll be there this time next week!

MeadowHay · 12/03/2017 13:09

Well I just spent like £42 on a grocery shop from Ocado. But I had a 25% off voucher so it should have been like £65ish and also got free delivery. So no too bad on the frugal front.

AdoraBell · 12/03/2017 13:24

Extremely jealous Miss A my DH has hearing loss so we never go to anything like that. I used to have a friend - when I lived in London - and we went to anything we could afford tickets for. That was pre mortgage/marriage/children for both of us.

Glad you got decent sleep Snuggly 😅 at comedy cat.

Glad your meal went well em

£88 in TKMaxx online on 3 pairs of shoes & a lightweight coat. I had an urge to splurge Blush.

WreckTangled · 12/03/2017 16:29

We're having dinner at ASK courtesy of tesco clubcard. Yum. Doesn't include adult drinks so I'm having tap water.
