Congratulations snuggly. How are you feeling?

Hopefully a NSD. Colleague has said he will make lunch today. It'll probably be the size portion that I would feed a whole family Grin

May just have to pay for a taxi but will be able to claim that back as off on a course. Not sure if I'm going to be able to stay awake as it is a technical computer course and I have poor concentration when tired

Beeneatingburnttoast · 08/03/2017 07:13

wreck Shock

ememem84 · 08/03/2017 07:22

wreck probably more than likely they do! Small population here...!!! Dh has a huge family here. Most of whom live/lived in one area of the island. I've told him that I can't live in that area because I don't want to be known as "Mrs last name from certain area"

The "last names from certain area" supposedly years age all had 6 toed feet and married their cousins. And owned most of the farms on the island. So they're all minted. Sadly dhs grandparents left their farm to his aunt (not his dad as per old style wills here - everything to the oldest son) so well never live the granite farmhouse dream.

(That makes me sound grabby actually...dhs family have fallen out so many times re inheritance. I'm glad we have a minimal amount ourselves. We work hard and get what we work for.

WreckTangled · 08/03/2017 07:46

I'm really annoyed because I have about £88 pending in topcashback for dh's life insurance I think. It's been pending for a year almost! I've messaged them but hey just keep saying there's nothing they can do Angry

snuggly massive double congrats, well done mummy SmileFlowersCake

PolkadotPony · 08/03/2017 07:56

Baby congratulations to you snuggly 😊

Aiming for a minimal spend day - I need £20 of electric that will last about 10 days, and 2 stamps. Dc2 will do that for me after school, I'm not mobile enough. I will just be at home today.

Asda food shop arriving today, I usually use Sainsbury's, having had poor experiences of Asda before but Dad asked me to Asda it. We don't have an Aldi and Lidl is miles away, and I don't drive nor is there a bus there. I live in rural Cornwall, you see. Where do you all food shop, and how?

I cancelled sky yesterday, Dad has said keeping Netflix at £6p/m is fine, seeing as I stay home a lot being a single parent and all.

How do you all read? As in, I like to buy books but feel that I must stop that too but I NEED to read. I have an iPad.

I had a poor nights sleep, have boyfriend trouble and the children really need new uniform. 😟

CremeEggThief · 08/03/2017 08:04

Fab news, Snuggly. Massive congratulations to you. Flowers

Polka, I don't drive either. I usually do online Sainsburys order, which is £40-45 on average, for everything. There's only me and DS (14) and we're vegetarian, which helps with keeping costs down. Then I top up from the village shops or in the Co-op in the next village, if I need to. I get most of my books from my library; I ask them to order in any I want and they don't have, for 40 pence per reservation.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 08/03/2017 08:15

suggly so many congratulations! I'm so happy for you and your not so little family! What weights are they? Rest up, and enjoy! BearFlowersBearFlowers

Rushing out on school run, and must shop today, the fridge is actually bare! It will be spendy, but meal planned for next 10 days. Will report back.

ChristmasSeacow · 08/03/2017 08:20

Yay, congratulations Snuggly. I bet that's a huge relief after carrying them towards the end. You'll be able to turn over in bed again (when you're lucky enough to see your bed)! Relish that newborn smell and those gorgeous cuddles! Looking forward to hearing more when you have time x

WreckTangled · 08/03/2017 08:33

Polkadot we shop at lidl it's almost 20 miles away but luckily I drive. We don't have Netflix but have nowtv. I don't get time to read but we do have a really good library near by and they'll order anything in for us.

Raining here which is annoying when you've planned to be outside and my friends dc has a cold

polka
Sign up for bookbub newsletter and you'll receive an email daily with low price and free books. Generally 4 books per email 1/2 will be free, I download them even if I'm not very interested as figure I'll always have something to read then. Kindle app on your iPad then for reading them.

I'm in ROI we have a new app called BorrowBox you must be a member of the library to use it, I use dd's account no as adult membership is €5 annually, dc is €5 one off. You can borrow & request ebooks and audible books on that too, I'm sure there's probably similar system in UK because we normally get our ideas from ye Grin

Tesco are doing 3 months deliveries for €3 when you sign up to mother & baby club. I just can't be so dishonest, I'm already a member and an online shopper. I've filled form out twice and can't proceed Blush

PolkadotPony · 08/03/2017 08:54

I could get to my library, as it's near the college I attend. I prefer reading to watching the TV, you see, spend a couple of hours on my day off reading usually. Thank you.

PolkadotPony · 08/03/2017 08:55

We are vegetarian, I was vegan until Xmas when a chocolate croissant ruined it. 😟 the dc eat meat at their dads, I will buy them bacon if they ask but they do it themselves.

Ipsomatic · 08/03/2017 09:03

Massive congratulations Snuggly. Fantastic news. StarStarStarStar

I've been super-brave this morning and had a filling done at the dentist. That's the first time I've needed to have proper dentistry since I burned out two years ago and I'm really chuffed at being able to manage the anxiety while he did it.

He says it is quite a deep filling and I might need to go back for a root canal if it hurts when the anaesthetic wears off, so fingers crossed it doesn't. Still chuffed that I managed it though. My face is all numb now.

Also my dm is a bit better and eating a little more now, which is great.

allthebestplease · 08/03/2017 09:12

polka I'm sure your uni/college will have an online library and should be free as you're a student. Our county has good libraries and digilal books for free which you can read on iPad. Also join a local book club as then you can swap books with others. Sorry that you're in pain.
I need to buy white bread flour, dd doesn't like my bread as it has bits in.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 08/03/2017 09:24

ipso well done on the dentist! I am kicking my heels going in, one of my deep fillings has gone wrong and I'm taking nurofen...it will be a root canal. I finally had the courage to chat to my dentist (which is dumb I've known him 20 years), about feeling so trembly and anxious after anesthetic, turns out they put adrenalin in it, and he gives me the other stuff now. My body does not react well to adrenalin, bypasses normal responses and goes straight to a panic attack. Good news about your mum too.

polka hi! I have 4dc too. 3 with horrid ex, and ds with my dp. I think yours might be bigger (couldn't trust mine with bacon!), mine are 4.5, 9(in 2 days), 10.5 & 14yrs. The constant food/washing cycle is epic isn't it? I'm in huge credit card debt after just buying what we needed to live comfortably for too long, nowt flash, just day to day stuff. This thread has woken me up, and now I buy bare essentials, and for the first time in forever I might not be in my overdraft at all this month.

  • might have watched frozen too many times.
PolkadotPony · 08/03/2017 09:30

Well done for the dentist 😊 I too am dentist phobic and understand what an ordeal it feels.

My dc are 7,8,12 and 14. I had my first very young, with an old boyfriend, and the other 3 are my exH. ExH however is considered the firsts dad too in all things barring biology, he goes with the other dc to stay at dads and things. Dc1 doesn't have contact with his father.

I used credit cards and payday loans and things to top up my low income, I spent money to make myself feel better, went on holidays I couldn't afford (with the dc) and ignored repaying it until I had two bailiff visits this week and just asked my parents to help me. They were very kind but firm, and I've been told undoubtedly that this is the last time. They have been great and unflinching and I feel very lucky to have such a great family.

I've paid all the debts now, as of this morning. I have some money left now to clothe and shoe the dc appropriately.

PolkadotPony · 08/03/2017 09:31

Yes to the adrenaline in the anaesthetic, I have the other stuff and take beta blockers before I go, ask your GP.

Ipsomatic · 08/03/2017 09:48

Thanks knitting! That's really interesting about the adrenaline in the anaesthetic. Oddly it doesn't do that to me, it just takes a long long time to wear off. They always say two hours and it always takes five.

Thanks polka. Smile I do feel quite pleased about having managed it. I did consider beta blockers, but my stomach is very sensitive after years of baby-related sleep deprivation so beta blockers disagree with me. I can't even take paracetamol at the moment. Very much hoping this tooth doesn't hurt later today.

ememem84 · 08/03/2017 10:34

Appointment over. So. Many. Questions. (And I got a parking ticket but am sending it to the hospital so they can confirm it was their fault appointment was 30 minutes late).

I've opted for whooping cough vaccine later on and also to find out downs risks. Dh didn't want me to do the downs test. But this was before we knew there was a non invasive way of doing it. Asbits done via blood test and they need to take bloods at my scan I figure it may as well be done. And if baby does have downs (or here's a high possibility) I'd like to know about it before hand so I can do some research/planning etc.
