I told dh about the cat litter.

He made a face. He's suggested disposable gloves. (Which in reality is a good idea. I'll have to do the litter when he's away). But he's agreed to sort it.

I told dm yesterday that if is a girl we're calling it sha'niq'ua. (Pronounced shaneeekwa). Just for funsies. In all seriousness though I like sort of hippyish names (poppy, pixie, honey, willow etc) but also more traditional.

ememem84 · 01/02/2017 07:46

life Grin funny....dh said the same!!! (Actually he said it was possibly the best up yours to his mum anyone's ever done). And she can't be mad. At happy news.

Beeneatingburnttoast · 01/02/2017 08:02

em I found nibbling on a rich tea biscuit before getting out of bed in the morning really helped with the sickness

SnugglySnerd · 01/02/2017 08:02

We're trying to choose names too. We need to think of 4 - 2 boys and 2 girls. Don't really know why we're bothering though, DD didn't end up with any of the names off our list last time and in all the hospital notes is referred to as Baby Our surname.

I'm just thinking about how much extra washing there's going to be when the babies arrive. Hoping for a long, dry summer to get it all dry and accepting that the dryer will be on a lot more often.

CremeEggThief · 01/02/2017 08:04

I was sick every day for 18 weeks. Although usually just the once, as soon as I got up, then I was fine. Normally I hate being sick, but I thought of it as different, because it was part of pregnancy, to cope. Ginger biscuits, nibbled very slowly, are good for nausea.

ChristmasSeacow · 01/02/2017 08:09

I was also thinking about the increase in washing Snuggly! Not so bothered about the washing itself as the eeeeedendless folding and putting away. Spare bed is usually covered in a layer of clean clothes, am not looking forward to it getting worse!

Em I so wish I could tell you all what BIL and SIL are threatening to call their baby, due any day. It's got the in-laws into a complete lather Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 01/02/2017 08:13

On the clearing out /frugal theme, any ideas of what to do with CDs? I haven't really got the room to store them in an accessible place and most are ripped and on my computer anyway. So choices are: box them up and stick in loft, to moulder forever; OR sell them, probably for tuppence each; OR give to charity shop.

I feel quite sentimental about some of them but still need the shelf space!

SnugglySnerd · 01/02/2017 08:18

Seacow we couldn't quite bear to part with all our cds so we bought one of those folders they slide into. We put all the cds in it along with their inserts/art work and then chucked the boxes. We did the same with dvds. We still have them but they take up a lot less space.

CathodeRayTube · 01/02/2017 08:28

Christmas We threw away the boxes for our DVDs and just stacked them up in a big pile (two actually) on the mantelpiece. They've been like that for years and never come to any harm. We do have a lot in folders and things like that, but the stack works just fine.

ememem84 · 01/02/2017 08:29

christmas I so want to know!!! Assuming it's something the ils think is utterly ridiculous.

AdoraBell · 01/02/2017 09:52

Fabulous news em 😆😆 😆

This might sound crazy while in the grip of nausea, but the best remedy I've ever had for it is garlic. Of course I forgot this while upduffed Hmm but it really works for me.

Cagliostro · 01/02/2017 10:00

Yep rich teas and ginger nuts before getting up. Little sips of water more often rather than big glugs.

You may well not puke at all - very common for morning sickness to 'just' be nausea, I never threw up in either pregnancy although still felt shit :o worth it though a thousand times over.

Loving the name choice Em or what about La-a? (Pronounced Ladasha obviously.)

DD is desperate for a little sister called Thalia because of a character in her favourite books (Percy Jackson) Hmm DH and I quite like it really.

Find out about vitamin d as well as folic acid.

I can totally see you will a little baby Willow BTW! I know a lovely 6yo Willow. Also love Rowan although that's more unisex.

I can eat again! Woohoo!

I have not spent any money yet today. Also Woohoo!

mammymammyIRL · 01/02/2017 10:37

I know a 4 year old Willow who has now moved to Oz with her parents, it's a fabulous name. Where's mummy these days I love her boys names also especially Wilf sorry GabrielSmile

mammymammyIRL · 01/02/2017 10:46

My back pay made €34 of a difference compared to my previous weeks wages, it all helps and will go towards credit card payment.

WreckTangled · 01/02/2017 10:59

I love willow.

Spendy day

£15 petrol
£3.09 olive oil drops for ds
£7 somethings Costa
£17.50 charity shop on a top (fat face) dress (asos) and coat (Jane Norman)
£3 tesco on spinach and cheese.

Frugal tip put a piece of kitchen roll, flat, in your bag of spinach/salad and it'll stop it going soggy. Nine days and mine was fine.

WreckTangled · 01/02/2017 11:00

£27 flea stuff

mammymammyIRL · 01/02/2017 11:01

Nice email to get from my Topaz reward card
Your FREE Treat is available for collection before 28th February. Simply scan your Play or Park game tag when you pick up a Ferrero Rocher T3 & Pepsi 500ml or Popcorn & Water 500ml at a participating Topaz store Second option better for my diet and health, first option probably more valuable money wise Hmm

mammymammyIRL · 01/02/2017 11:03

We don't do grand gestures for valentines. Dh was pondering a thermos flask before Christmas, he hasn't purchased. He bought hot cup soup at weekend when doing the grocery shop. I think I'll get a really practical flask for him for Valentines Day Grin Is there any brand better than Thermos?

mammymammyIRL · 01/02/2017 11:04

Love that tip wreck if only I could get bags of spinach leaves atm, they're out of stock everywhere I go, I'm resorting to baby herb leaves from aldi but they're not the same

mumstudentbum · 01/02/2017 11:14

As you can tell from my username Im a student. In my final year so 3 months to go. I've started applying for jobs but can't start until April.

Thing is there's 5 of us and DH doesn't earn a lot, his income has just gone down even further so my frugal hat is on!

I've started this week by buying washing powder in bulk (home bargains). Made an bulk order for crisps, tins, biscuits etc from approved foods for the kids, I'm even in the process of looking for a second freezer as I throw so much extra food away because it won't fit in the tiny one we have.

So high spend week but hopefully will save pennies in the long run

ChristmasSeacow · 01/02/2017 11:40

Em it would be too identifying unfortunately. I doubt there will be another baby of that name in this country year. But yes, PILS think it couldn't be worse. We are all eagerly awaiting the baby's arrival to see whether they go through with it!

Welcome Student. So many new people on the thread I will need revision cards soon! But lovely to have more people.

I think the big CD wallets are a great idea for the ones I want to keep. I think I shall be ruthless about what is worth keeping and send the others to the charity shop. I doubt I'll get much from music magpie and the like. Dreadful to think how much they all cost - most of my music was bought in the late 80s and 90s when a new album was commonly £15 or so. That's a real example of deflation there!

I've noticed the weather problem (in Spain I think?) is having quite a big impact on availability and cost of spinach, courgettes and the like.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 01/02/2017 12:05

em I am so happy for you, dh and catface (they always know first!). When I came back to the thread in january, one of the first posts I read was you saying the only thing to do in 2017 was concentrate on getting pregnant! Accomplished very quickly, well done.

I found actually being sick stopped the god awful nausea with the girls, but nothing helped with ds but to wait for it to pass. Each baby is different, needs advice is spot on, there is no wrong way, just do what feels right to you.

And bonus on not needing to stress about NZ mil anymore, as you say, she can only be happy (if she isn't it will paint her in a very bad light).

Not done much yet except put the phesants in the slow cooker for tonight. Can't remember if I like them or not. Am contemplating going out on my bike. Its been a while.

WreckTangled · 01/02/2017 12:17

I haven't had any problems getting spinach luckily. This is my new coat, my insulin pump needs moving when I wear it because it makes me look lumpy (it's on the side of my bra)
