£25 in Tesco including £5 flowers for MIL

Two presents came from our toy/gift cupboard. We buy lots of toys on offer but then end up still asking family what they want for gifts so we don't use it. So £40 saved, although already spent about £30 from the cupboard stash

Weird lunch at PIL. We basically got two small roast potatoes each, one small sausage, chicken and veg. I was still starving after our main meal but it appeared we were expected to fill up on pudding. Now I love pudding but if you're hungry I want food! Is it just me or is two small potatoes not enough for an adult?

Wasted money on an SD card for my tablet as it won't save iPlayer downloads to it. Appears I need a bigger memory tablet or an updated kindle but may have to see if I get any vouchers for birthday to get one. Resisting buying one now!

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/02/2017 16:49

£15.05 on huge mc Donalds order for us. Dh has been doing DIY so I treated him.

SnugglySnerd · 12/02/2017 16:56

Evening all!
Sounds like a lovely birthday, Creme.
We've had a lovely and very frugal day! Had a free voucher for soft play so took DD this morning and just spent £2.75 on a couple of drinks.
DD has suddenly decided she wants to help with cooking so she grated her own cheese and arranged it on her toast at lunchtime. Very proud that we didn't succumb to the delicious smell of chips coming from the pub next to the soft play place as that saved us 20 quid on lunch!
This afternoon DH and DD made chocolate cornflake cakes while I put up some pictures that we've been meaning to do for ages.
Veggie cobbler from the freezer for tea and then we're going to watch the second half of a film we started last night. Nice thing about mat leave is no Sunday night feeling!

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2017 16:57

£4 in aldi. Lovely day with friends. Need to replan good as used some of planned meals today and have fewer leftovers. Hey ho, would rather be in good company.

Ipsomatic · 12/02/2017 17:29

Been Maybe they've joined another frugaleer society and have been reading about Christmas lunch for £1. Smile

Need thank you for the grin, I enjoyed that. Smile

Cagliostro · 12/02/2017 18:00

Ipso perhaps, clearly their frugaleer society is nowhere near as good as ours then :o

£10ish on compression gloves and something else I've been putting off buying for a long time. Foldable walking stick. I don't want one. But it's started to get to the stage where it's necessary sometimes. Bah.

Beeneatingburnttoast · 12/02/2017 18:22

Ha ha ipso well PIL have just dicovered the cheapness of Lidl so perhaps they are frugaleers too!

Pretty sure the puddings were Tesco finest though so would have been cheaper to fill us up on cheap potatoes instead Grin

Big bacon roll has now filled our stomachs.

Did someone mention the free (tiny) box of lindor on click snap? Bought one as an add on gift for the numerous birthdays coming up.

What shopping apps do people use? Have shopitize (but isn't so good anymore), Shopmium, green Jin (that someone recently mentioned on here- thank you), checkout smart and the topcashback one (but doesn't work with iphone)

Ipsomatic · 12/02/2017 18:26

Cag at least it won't be a hidden disability if you have a stick. That might help a bit I suppose. Sorry to hear you're needing it now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/02/2017 19:02

There's clicksnap too toast

FoolandFitz · 12/02/2017 19:18

NSD for most of last week and today but not yesterday.

Yesterday: book and birthday card for DS to take to party plus Valentine's card: £11.31 plus train journey and coffee and cake for me £9.70. I'm a bit sporadic about Valentine's - some years I get DP a card but most years I don't.

Is there a place I can bulk buy cards as it's costing me a fortune buying last minute? I need children's birthday cards but not cutesy as most of DS's friends are boys who are 9 or 10 and generic blank cards that I can use for a variety of celebrations.

WreckTangled · 12/02/2017 19:22

Today has actually been a nsd.

Tomorrow is going to be vvvvvv spendy.

I'm just folding washing, again. I swear I'm missing a trick I don't remember my step mum ever folding washing. Maybe she had a magic wand that did it for her.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/02/2017 19:26

Card factory.

You need a spreadsheet/list of family birthdays, anniversaries etc. You can get them all in one hit then.

In the Christmas sales I get a variety of "for a very special couple" cards & hope no one divorces.

Relationship breakdowns fuck my card shopping right up.

FoolandFitz · 12/02/2017 19:30
Grin

Thanks, I'll look at Card Factory.

WreckTangled · 12/02/2017 19:39

Card factory are great. Their cards are usually either 49p or 99p and they have certain ones which are X amount for £X amount. Sorry can't remember exactly but I always feel so stupid paying £3 for a tesco one when I get get one just as nice in there. They only go in the bin anyway. Fluffy you could always write 'formerly' between to a and lovely couple with a sharpie Grin

Brightermornings · 12/02/2017 19:40

Haha fluffy some people are so rude!!

Nsd for me and my eBay items sold for £45.00 I've bought envelopes for 50p and after fees I'm hoping to clear £40. Very happy.

Ipsomatic · 12/02/2017 20:44

Fluffy you crack me up. Grin

Cagliostro · 12/02/2017 21:24

Good point Ipso the stick may help with the visibility too :)

All 4 (what was 4od) is confusing me. Makes a big thing about Box Sets being available to watch for free but some of them you click and there's no episodes. Hmmph.

Cag It will also give you gravitas. I love it how people with sticks immediately have an air of authority. A professor that I used to work with got one at one point and it gave him massively more stage presence.

My Mum has had a fantastic air of authority ever since getting a stick and my son covets the stick every time she visits. In the end we had to get him one of his own. My Mum's stick has a compass in the top, which is obviously totally cool at well.

My Granny used to use her stick to poke jelly fish at the seaside, which we thought was extremely cool too.

Have you considered an elegant sword-stick for use at home? Dh has one (which we don't dare to take out of the house, because it would be illegal, obviously.)

Tryingtosaveup · 12/02/2017 21:36

Cag, at least the stick can fold away in your bag when you don't need it.
Ipso...pick axe and goggles....the mind boggles.
You're right Wreck, my mum never folded washing either.

Beeneatingburnttoast · 12/02/2017 21:43

wreck what do you mean by folding washing?

Is it taking it off the airer to be put away? Or are you folding it to put in the ironing basket?

I accept it may be mad to iron clothes. My work colleagues were amazed I bothered to iron Blush

Ipsomatic · 12/02/2017 22:01

I spend half my life folding clothes. They come our of the tumble dryer and I have to fold them to fit them in the drawers. It's really tedious. I wish I'd realised as a child how much tedious stuff my Mum had to do. I like to think I'd have understood her better if I'd known.

The pick axe and night goggles thing is a quote from LA Story, in case you are wondering. I didn't actually use either. Grin

Ipsomatic · 12/02/2017 22:03

The robot people are working on it, but I really doubt that the folding robot is going to be cheap. It seems only to do flat t shirts too.

Forgot to cancel my fruit box so going to be overwhelmed with fruit. Lots of smoothies this week!
Quite an expensive weekend, due to friends birthday.
Now need to get eyebrows and upper lip threaded tomorrow plus a foldable umbrella and shampoo/conditioner that doesn't turn my hair to straw. I was using a L'Occitane one and changed to
Herbal Essences to save money but it's really drying my hair out. Any tips re shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair?

Cagliostro · 12/02/2017 22:51

Haha well I'm just looking for support and lack-of-falling-over from my stick really... I'm not sure I could have gravitas even if I wore a top hat and monocle.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 12/02/2017 22:57

At least I can wave it threateningly at anyone who annoys me though. :o
