Hope all poorly ones feel better soon Flowers
Welcome newbies, plenty of advice, support and inspiration here.
Busy day today. Meeting with the builders at 0930 to agree on all the finishing of the loft/stairs etc. I've got a long list of other jobs to do too so will be kept very busy. I worked yesterday and am working tomorrow and Thursday so need to make sure all meals are planned too. Tonight will be gammon, mash and veg.

ItalianWiking84 · 04/10/2016 09:17

I'ved just spend 400£ on tickets to Metallica Shock Luckly we get reimbursed 300£. They are giving 4 concerts and in total 55000 tickets are on sale. And they sold out in 10 minutes Shock

Collieballs · 04/10/2016 09:21

AGenie lol! Definitely can't do minimalism. Grin the trousers are too big, the bacon was alright and the paracetamol didn't work! Arghhh!

Italianthat sounds amazing!!

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 09:39

I am going to have to do some serious tidying soon. I've been throwing used tissues at the waste basket. Turns out not many of them have made it. Sigh
Dh left for work and left me with a flask of tea (should last all morning).

I'm making lists today. Lists of things to sell on eBay. List of chores to be done.
Lists of things I need to buy in boots this month (birthday double points voucher arrived yesterday so I get double points all month) may as well stock up on things and reap the benefits.

Paid in my birthday cheque yesterday. Half has been sent to my credit card to bring the balance down. the other half popped into my saver account so I can think about how to spend it.

Sierra259 · 04/10/2016 09:40

Sending get well vibes to all you poorly ones Flowers. Welcome sunny!

italian I spent £200+ at the weekend on Iron Maiden tickets for DH and a couple of friends! The friends have paid me back, just need to nag DH! Stuck it on my new cc - 0% on purchases for 25 months - but will pay off the money from our friends straight away so it doesn't get spent on anything else!

Hopefully lsd today. DC1's swimming is pre-baby, though I might treat her to soft play afterwards. Tesco shop coming later £46.

Sierra259 · 04/10/2016 09:44

Pre- paid, not pre-baby

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 09:53

geniecollie I've just watched that ted talk. Interesting.

I too don't think I could become minimalist. But will def think about things differently. I think I'm doing that now.

When I first got with dh I was super materialistic. Had to have this that the other. Had to. Now I buy if I need it. (Occasional splurges) but it's got a lot better.

AGenie · 04/10/2016 10:17

Electric I've changed a lot too since joining the frugaleers. I was ultra frugal before but did it on instinct rather than on the basis of actual information. Joining the frugaleers has helped me to make much more realistic decisions about when it makes sense to spend money and when not. If anything, I think I actually spend more now, but I target spending to make sure it goes where it counts.

ItalianWiking84 · 04/10/2016 10:26

Sierra: we have joint finances so his ticket is just being paid from our account... But I don't mind... I am just happy he is settling here and getting friends and can do some things that makes him happy. Baby dd will be around 3 month at the concert so I can easily manage for the 2 days alone...

Sunnysky2016 · 04/10/2016 10:52

Thanks for the welcome!
This is gonna sound weird but I smoke. Didn't start until after ds1 was born, quit the day I found out I was pregnant with ds2, and started again 2 weeks after mat leave finished and I was back in work.
I spent £8 on cigarettes today- the thought I will be telling you all I do this each day, makes me embarrassed and ashamed!
Today is going to be my last packet bought. Once these have gone that's it. I'm looking forward to the money saved- that can be a new car or holiday next year........ Thank you

Mummyshortlegz · 04/10/2016 11:25

My dh has moved in to electronic cigarettes and mixes his own e juice is the garage. Much better (not perfect) for him and cheaper. Worth looking at as a transition into giving up.

£6 in co op on bread, cold meat, fat free yoghurt for wraps and chocolate. Really need to go to Aldi after the gym tonight!

CremeEggThief · 04/10/2016 11:28

Envy of Metallica tickets and not at all surprised they sold out that quickly. I'm a massive fan, but have never seen them live. Iron Maiden are great too!

Wel come, Sunny. My mum was a diehard smoker from 12 to 60, but she has successfully been off them for 3 years with the help of an ecigarette. I never thought I would see it happen. Obviously, with nearly 50 years of smoking behind her, she's so addicted to nicotine I think she'll be on the ecigarette forever, but people who have only smoked for a few years have an excellent chance of using it as a step to quit completely.

Electric, I hope the day at home sorts you out. If I were you, I'd try to rest properly and leave the lists for another day. Hopefully you're napping by now.

AGenie · 04/10/2016 11:31

Electric I'm shamelessly wasting the day reading MN and I just found this very interesting blog post that was linked on the incompetent husband thread. I wondered if it would interest you? It answers a lot of questions for me.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 11:35

I've moved from bed to couch. And have put a load of washing on.
Had a shower and am now in my scruffs. Telly duvet. Hot water bottle and a bucket of tea.
I'm watching Gilmore girls. Netflix recommended it.

Also annoyed - I went to take more neurofen cold and flu stuff. And apparently I can't take any more for 8hours!!! I thought it was every 4!!!! Waaa

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 11:45

genie interesting article.

I did speak to dh about his tidiness. Or lack thereof. I've told him he needs to tidy up after himself. I won't be doing it for him.

I moved all his "shit" onto his pile on his side of the bed on Saturday.

Collieballs · 04/10/2016 11:48

Well it wasn't a spendy morning after all Shock we got in the car and randomly decided to head in the other direction and visited a free farm instead. Which DS loved!! And the farm shop was filled with the tastiest food. So we spent 1/3 of what we planned to spend and bought foodie treats instead.

Frugal win!

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 16:50

Successful day here. Napped intermittently through 3 episodes of Gilmore girls. Had chicken soup. Have super moisturised my fave. Used up a box and a half of tissues. And have sent a few emails for work.

And have trained catface to follow a trail of treats to the top of the stairs. Smile

also spent £34 in the white company on glitter grey slippers. Had a 15%voucher and cashback. Yippee

Cagliostro · 04/10/2016 16:58

Collie YES to more game playing. As long as you tell me all about what games you play! :o

Free and enjoyable morning at the country park. Nice to get fresh air but I'm really achy now.

cag I promise I will! Scouts honour.Grin

We ditched our gigantic microwave. I'm hoping we'll cope without one for a while. It was just too damn big. It was a "hand me down" and we kept it for 4 years but we only ever used to reheat teas and baked beans!

Cagliostro · 04/10/2016 17:06

Yay :o did I mention I love games? 😂

WreckTangled · 04/10/2016 17:08

Nsd.

AGenie · 04/10/2016 17:18

Well done Collie. We did that last year too and it freed up a lot of space. I'm pretty certain that the tesco value teeny weeny microwave costs about £16 and does just as good a job, if you decide you still need one. We got about the second cheapest one which is also teeny and very good.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 17:48

We don't have a microwave. I want one. But would probably only use it about 4 times a year.

Sierra259 · 04/10/2016 18:00

Well done collie and hope you've managed to evict most of your snot boobs

£5.50 on soft play after swimming to properly tire out DC1. I am shattered and counting down until their bedtime. I won't be long after tonight!

CremeEggThief · 04/10/2016 18:13

£1.50 on 2 2nd class stamps and £2.55 on a latte. I managed to do a 0% balance transfer of the £1600 left on my MBNA card, which I transferred last year from my HSBC credit card. It's with Tesco Bank and it's for 24 months (2 years), so I think it's a good deal. If you use the pre-eligibility check on the MSE website, it calculates how likely you are to be accepted, so any rejections won't go on your credit file. There are lots of options on there to choose from. If I increase my standing order by £5 to £65 a month, mine will be gone within the 24 months.
