Supermarket delivery, bloody £130 Hmm

Have finally sorted out what to keep from shoeaholics, total spend including 2 lots of postage is £123, ankle boots and trainers. More than I wanted to spend but still less than actual shops.

I discovered I have a heathy balance in a forgotten account and am struggling with a childish demon on one shoulder telling me to buy lot's of lovely fripperies and a fully fledged grown up on t'other telling me save to all of it. Both are getting this face Hmm from me.

AdoraBell · 04/10/2016 18:37

Forgot, £110 yesterday on 3 pairs of Levis Blush

Sierra259 · 04/10/2016 18:39

Adora what a lovely surprise! Maybe set yourself a sensible amount for treats and save the rest?

Do any of you know anywhere online that does good prices on Dermalogica products? They are my biggest beauty spend but they really suit my skin and last for absolutely ages. Current lot is running a bit low so hoping I could find a reasonable deal.

SnugglySnerd · 04/10/2016 18:58

Evening all! Just checking in before I go out. It's been a busy week so far! NSD yesterday but had to get petrol and cat food today so that was just over 50 quid.
Have done a meal plan using a lot of things from the freezer and going to supermarket tomorrow for fresh stuff.
Will try and catch up with the thread later.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/10/2016 19:02

Hi all quickly loging on before taking dd to football.

Been a super busy day with work being non stop, then picking dd up, cooking tea, washing up and doing a load of washing before going out again. Plus am going to have to pop to Lidls on way home as have run out of bread, milk, fruit, yogurts etc - GAH!!!

Bought a sausage roll for lunch £1.40.

ItalianWiking84 · 04/10/2016 19:25

Been accepted at the new bank and house has been valued over our mortgage so everything can be moved... Smile
Was afraid they'd told us we had to much loans but they said that all our loans were excpected from a youngish family with small kids.
Current loans
Mortgage 115000 £
Car loan 8200£
"Usage loan" 9000£

Seems a lot but the bank thinks we are very sensible because we only have loans in the bank

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/10/2016 19:27

£2 for wrapping paper and £6 on fruit.
Hope a day off helped boobs

Sierra try beautyflash. co.uk for dermaligica, cheapest I found when I was buying it.

Collieballs · 04/10/2016 19:40

Hey all,

It was one of those gigantic convection oven microwave thingies. It was so big that DH struggled to carry it alone. Our new kitchen is smaller so it's definitely worth getting rid of. I feel liberated. Grin

boobs hope you're feeling better. Brew

italian good news about the bank & loans!

adora that's a brilliant surprise! Spend some & save some!

Right, must get back on the frugal wagon. I fell off the wagon on payday & we've had to do lots of little top up shops due to being ill. E.g yesterday had to buy the paracetamol and today I had to buy IBS relief. Last Friday DH had to buy ginger biscuits to stop my nausea. Saturday we had to buy Rennie's and gaviscon etc etc.

I'm not 100% but I definitely have everything I need now. I'm finding that all the sickness has screwed up my tummy and now I need stuff for indigestion - but we're all stocked up! Phew.

mammymammyIRL · 04/10/2016 20:08

Finally I'm caught up Smile
Brew to those feeling unwell & Cake for boobs birthday figured Flowers would be in poor taste Grin

Yesterday I arrived home to both cc bills. This was a good moment though as I'd paid them both two hours earlier. Not paid off but a significant chunk!

Need to do house insurance quotes tomorrow

Sierra259 · 04/10/2016 21:18

Thanks lifelong, will check it out

8FencingWire · 04/10/2016 21:21

NSD today.

Mummyshortlegz · 04/10/2016 21:36

£45 in Aldi, £44 on petrol and £6 in co cop. I need to be better at the weekly shop as I'm now over budget for the week due to two top up shops.

Tryingtosaveup · 04/10/2016 21:38

LSD today. 80p on parking as I had to take all the ID stuff into Nationwide. I've opened one of their internet saver accounts that pays 5% on up to £2500. Then somebstuff in Tesco but it only cost 43p as I had vouchers.
Veggie casserole in slow cooker was le yummy.
Streaming cold here. Am convinced it is passed on via this thread.
Hope AGenie and boobs are well soon...and collie
That microwave sounds big. I used to use mine a lot until AGenie pointed out how expensive it is...that and the toaster . I've cut down my use of that too.

Eva50 · 04/10/2016 22:01

It's been an awfully cold day here today. We've had the heating on for a couple of hours. Spent almost £20 in co-op on some reduced bits and pieces so didn't need to go to Lidl. The rest of the week should be fairly low spend. School holidays start next week for two weeks so I will have to think of cheap things to do.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/10/2016 22:21

Hi all, finally sitting down after a ridiculously busy day

Went to Lidls after dds football session and spent £39, not too bad considering got loads for that! Need to get organised with meal planning again though as that seems to have slid recently.

Collie we only got a microwave when we moved, had never had one previously! I like it for porridge, warming milk and jacket pots, I treated myself to a nice retro looking one from Dun Elm.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/10/2016 06:18

I have a mid range microwave and would be with iout it.
Hope everyone is feeling better today.
Nsd planned as baking dd birthday cake for the weekend.

Collieballs · 05/10/2016 07:24

girlie We'll probably buy a nice normal sized (20L ish) microwave after we move house. Definitely don't need a 30L + microwave Grin

It'll be a LSD but I need to withdraw £10 & break the change up for a £1.75 bus ticket!

CremeEggThief · 05/10/2016 08:10

My £30 microwave from Sainsburys 5 years ago is still going strong. I use it at least every other day. It's very basic, so not much can go wrong.

WreckTangled · 05/10/2016 08:27

We've had our microwave since we moved in together over nine years ago. My dad bought it for us it's a Panasonic. Was about £80 I think.

I'm getting fruflu woken up with a sore throat and runny nose Sad

Will be a lsd. Ds has swimming lessons then off to a friends for lunch then to a parent and child group at pre school which is £3.

AGenie · 05/10/2016 08:57

I've always used the microwave to cook frozen veg as they come out really nicely that way.

I do sometimes wonder if it's a good idea though, because I know that if I cook tinned soup in the microwave then it doesn't heat it hot enough and I get mild food poisoning from it.

Also my Mum always cooked vegetables in boiling water with iodised salt, and I have no idea how to add iodised salt, or any other kind of salt to microwaved vegetables. Getting the right amount of salt makes a huge difference to my general health, so I do think it's something I should be working on.

I do wonder whether I should just go back to boiling. Maybe I should try it? I could at least test the relative cost with my energy monitor.

What do you all do when you cook vegetables?

AGenie · 05/10/2016 08:57

Wreck I've got the small Panasonic one too. It's great.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 05/10/2016 08:57

Nsd here. Working from home today. Still feeling snotty and crap but need to stay in touch with work.

In bed with laptop and flask of tea.

Am losing my voice too! So that'll be fun tomorrow.

Dinner is in the slow cooker. Spag bol. it smells awesome already. Dh has made me a sandwich for lunch he's the best ignore all the bad things I said about him the other day

He also sorted his washing. Admittedly it was late last night while I was in bed wanting to sleep. But washing is out away except for a few odd socks

At most today I will put a load of washing on and move to the couch and work from there. Total rest should kick this colds ass.

Catface has turned a corner. She played with a mousie (laced with catnip) last night in the light while me and dh were watching. Then at 2am I heard noises and found her running about in the living room. When I got up to feed her at 630 she was under the tv cabinet. I got her food ready shook the bowl and put it in the hallway and went back to bed.

About 5 mins later I could hear eating. So she'd wandered down herself. So. Brave.

She's just popped her head in through the bedroom door and meowed. The biggest loudest meow I've ever heard. So it's obviously time for second breakfast (we have to split her biscuits into 2 servings otherwise she eats too much too quickly and then is sick).

WreckTangled · 05/10/2016 09:04

I boil, steam or roast veggies.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 05/10/2016 09:23

genie as above - we boil steam roast or stir fry veggies.

One of my absolute favourite things is a whole broccoli stir fried with garlic chilli and a smidge of black bean sauce. Over noodles.

AGenie · 05/10/2016 09:28

Thanks that's good to know. Maybe I should try boiling them then.
