Balls. The snot has come back. Eugh.

At least it held off for lunch.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. X

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/10/2016 21:11

Survived the bubble run!! It was really good fun, we ran 5k round a course that had about 5 different foam machines of various colours shooting out foam at us Grin got totally soaked!!

Its been a good day, caught up on jobs this morning including cutting the lawn and hoovering, then bubble run this arvo followed by a roast dinner at my mums Smile NSD in the end as well.

Knackered now though, dd was tired as well - she voluntarily went to bed at 8pm!!

Was cold tonight so have put my little oil burner on for a bit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/10/2016 21:22

Trying Try lots of cold water, it reduces the inflammation. Cold season is here now Sad

Frugal win, won ebay auction for nail tech book £6.50 instead of £35

Will pay tomorrow.

Frugal fail, cooked ham hock. Stripped the meat and cut into cubes for my soup. Dh moved it out of the microwave and into the oven which was soaking in multi surface cleaner. Had to throw it out because it tasted of Aldi lemon anti bac spray. I was really looking forward to ham and parsnip soup.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 02/10/2016 21:53

trying hot water with lemon honey and thyme will help a sore throat.

Back to being frugal tomorrow. Leftover chicken curry (from Friday - been in the freezer) for dinner. Need to do a shopping list for Tuesday.

Also have to buy cake for work tomorrow. So probably about £15. Donuts probably. Or croissants.

northender · 02/10/2016 22:36

Happy birthday boobs
Gorgeous weather here today. Went for a walk and had amazing views from the top of the hill. Splashed out on cakes and drinks at a cafe at the end, but it was worth it, a lovely day out.
Before we went out we did some work on the house upstairs stripping the walls so that it's easier for the plasterers to skim them. Did lots of ironing tonight. It's usually Monday's job but I'm working tomorrow so decided to get ahead.
Slow roast pork shoulder for tea which was delish & plenty left for tomorrow's tea too.

Cagliostro · 03/10/2016 00:33

OMG. So I haven't caught up with the thread yet but I need some clever Frugaleers advice. My dad has been having a clear out and he found an old dungeons and dragons book set. Turns out it's a very early copy and with the extras in it, it looks like it's worth at least £200.

What do we do with it? That's a lot of money. I know stuff like that is generally sold on eBay but TBH I read so many eBay horror stories - where they always side with the dodgy buyer - that I'm scared of getting conned. I've no idea if I'd get a good deal selling it to a game shop. So while any money for it would be great, I don't want to let it go for far less than it's worth IYSWIM.

Any thoughts please?

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/10/2016 06:54

Are there any forums you could sell it on? People who want that set will travel to buy it, I would avoid PayPal & ask for cash.

I print out receipts for eBay buyers to sign saying the item was as described when collected and they are happy with the condition.

No ones refused to sign one yet.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 03/10/2016 06:58

I'd try and find a specialist shop or something to sell it. Comic book store maybe?

Today's jobs. Pay in cheque, buy cakes for work. Survive the day at work (super snotty again. Gah. I'd stay home but they know I was out yesterday and know wine was involved so don't want them to think I'm hungover).

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/10/2016 07:20

The heating is on.
Nsd planned today

Shesgotelectricboobs · 03/10/2016 07:33

Heating is not going on here until December. We've never needed it to yet.

Tights however are on.

Collieballs · 03/10/2016 07:38

cag how exciting! Definitely sell them. I agree with boobs. Or there must be a nerdy collector out there who would either take them or know someone who will.

This week's plans:

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/10/2016 07:53

Have a lovely day everyone.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 03/10/2016 08:36

£13 on donuts. Two boxes from local Portuguese bakery. Twenty five donuts. Warm and full of jam.

I'll just leave that there. Good days y'all

WreckTangled · 03/10/2016 08:38

Nsd planned.

Heating not on here although it's 3 degrees outside. We have storage heaters so you can't just switch them on for an hour or so.

Sierra259 · 03/10/2016 09:39

Am having a new start on this thread today. Hadn't been managing to keep up at all with DC being very demanding last week. Also got a little lax with my spends - feeling a bit tired and fed up atm and too tempted to treats Sad

Determined to get back on track from today.

AGenie · 03/10/2016 10:13

I just emptied out a person-size wall cupboard and the amount of stuff in there was astonishing. I have freecycled a bunch of it, and binned a bunch, and some is on ebay.

I also finally threw away my jumbo tin of emergency formula milk that I bought in case breastfeeding didn't work with ds. Job done.

WreckTangled · 03/10/2016 11:23

Haha genie!!

Frugal win! My tax credits have been increased by £55 a month to £100!! Since I updated our increased childcare costs. So pleased.

I've got such a bad headache I'm worried it'll turn into a migraine.

Collieballs · 03/10/2016 11:46

wreck oh no! Really hoping it doesn't. Take it easy! Good news about the tax credits though.

genie do you feel better for decluttering? I'm decluttering as I pack and I cannot believe how much stuff we have bought but don't need or use. It's embarrassing. Blush

AGenie · 03/10/2016 11:52

collie Yes I do feel better, though also bad for having bought all the rubbish in the first place.

I've a bad habit of thinking of fun things to do, buying the kit, doing them for a bit and then changing tack. I need to find a hobby that involves other people and just requires one lot of associated junk really. There was half an orchestra in that cupboard. It's truly embarrassing. The fact that I bought it all cheap off ebay doesn't really excuse it.

Also the stuff with sentimental value really annoys me in a way. We use a whole lot of space storing things that it would be very sad to throw away, like my wedding dress. Our house is so cluttered though and so hard to keep dust-free.

I think we should start a national network of "Thing Libraries" where we could go to borrow things. It would save a lot of storage space if we didn't all need to have one of each thing, all the time.

Mummyshortlegz · 03/10/2016 11:53

£133 on next terms swimming for the boys. Saved for and allocated so that felt very nice.

Need fuel today too, trying to decide whether to fill it up or not.

Collieballs · 03/10/2016 12:00

Genie watch this.

I won't become a minimalist. It's quite an extreme thing to do - but I will change my attitude regarding buying stuff. Grin

CremeEggThief · 03/10/2016 12:39

Life, it was 5° here last night, so I was tempted to put the heating on, but fluffy socks, a fleece and my trusty blanket on the sofa did the trick.

Electric, those doughnuts sound lush. I bet they're all gone by now.Envy

Genie, I like the idea of a Stuff/Thing library. Smile

Tryingtosaveup · 03/10/2016 13:01

Boobs, those doughnuts sound wonderful. They make me determined to visit Jersey, just for that Portuguese bakery. Hope you got a Bakers' dozen!
I decluttered when I moved earlier this year. I had 27 years, an exH and 2 kids worth of clutter. It's great now as I am careful not to reclutter.
Thanks for the tips. I have honey, thyme and lemon in, so am going for that. ( and strepsils).
Opened Nationwide flex account and just got the paperwork. Going to use it for savings.
