Bah. Don't you just hate it how quickly cash disappears?! I had £22 from this morning (I forgot about discount I'd arranged) and just spent £9 in coop on speedy dinner because I'm so bloody unorganised. Then £5.50 taxi and £2.40 bus getting DD from Brownies.SIGH

Thursday piano mum texted to say we will figure something out (as after tomorrow I need to take the Caglets to Badgers) so hopefully all will be ok.

Me too, Collie, but I bet the drivers would final another way to hold us passengers in their contempt!Grin

That's a great saving there, Mammy.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/09/2016 20:19

Nice name change boob

I'm not safe to be let loose in a shop. Unfortunately I'm a numbers nerd and have memorised all my card details.
£21 in sainsburys as broke my hand mixer making butter cream so had to buy a new one. I may have just spent another £70 on a kenwood stand mixer reduced from £199 to £90 then £20 nectar redemption eeek

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 20:40

Has anyone ever done a low spend month?

I'm thinking we may have to limit ourselves to spending £50 on stuff for the whole month of October. We need to pay for movers etc! Maybe I'm being over cautious.

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 20:40

That's £50 after all bills, food & fuel!

mammymammyIRL · 28/09/2016 20:47

Brilliant saving Creme its not like for like as currently we have sky multi room with unlimited broadband & phone. We never use the phone, we will have faster unlimited broadband & have Netflix package for use on two screens plus free to air also. We will lose ability to record & pause tv & watch live tv but from talking to dsd & dss we won't miss it at all

mammymammyIRL · 28/09/2016 20:48

€20 is smallest from all our bank machines.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 28/09/2016 21:09

There's a magic cash machine here which gives out fivers. Smile just the one though.

Baking done. Phew.

Limoncello cupcakes (a bit more boozy than I'd anticipated. Oops)
Gin n tonic cupcakes (not as boozy as anticipated)
Chocolate brownies
Cheese and ham muffins.

All to take to work tomorrow to sell in our bake sale Grin Cake

Kitchen is a bit of a mess. And I'm pretty sure I have yellow sugar in my hair. Confused

CremeEggThief · 28/09/2016 21:18

She'sgotelectricboobs, sounds delicious (nice name change, btw!) What time is your coffee morning again?Grin

Collie, we sometimes spend £30 a week, after food, rent and bills. £20 pocket money for me, £5 for DS and £5 miscellaneous. Have you priced a few removals companies yet?

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 21:22

creme no that's DHs job tomorrow but we've put aside some funds. We just need a man & van. I think I'll withdraw £100 and just hoard it in an envelope. It's just going to be a weird month financially. Wish we could move house on the 1st! Grin just after pay day.

I have a small contingency fund! Just desperately don't want to rinse through it.

girlie did you rinse through cash too when you moved house?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/09/2016 21:26

Hi all, finally logging on after a long and busy day Wednesdays are ridiculous with work and clubs!

Am stuck on one of dds maths questions again Cag Grin It says 'write in pence the value of 9 in £8.90' Confused I have no clue!

Collie I think its worth waiting till they are 3yo or thereabouts before potty training, dd was only 2 and 2 months and wasn't really ready when I look back. She cracked being dry pretty quickly but didn't poo on the toilet for nearly another year which became a big issue.

I reckon a LSM is doable but there are always extras that crop up I find! For example dd has just told me she needs trainers for school, she has some running trainers at home but needs those for her various clubs so will have to buy an additional pair this wend.

Lsd £1.80 on emergency tea and chocolate flapjack.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 28/09/2016 21:30

Thanks creme I heard the song on the radio yesterday (Bennie and the jets) and it always makes me laugh. For years I thought EJ was singing "she's got electric boobs a monkey suit I read it in a magaziiiiiinnneee" I was close ish

Bake sale starts at 9. First flight over from Gatwick is at 7am. Wink you'd get here in time.

We're hoping to raise about £500. There are 20 of us in our company . 40 on the floor above and 40 below. We've put signs outside. Last year we raised almost £400.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/09/2016 21:30

Collie yes I did Grin my man and van cost £300 Shock have you had financial advise on the mortgage? I got one with £500 cash back which just about saved me from going in debt in the first few months. I was also helped out loads by my mum and dad.

CremeEggThief · 28/09/2016 21:32

Not Cag, Girlie, but it's 890 pence.

No two ways about it, moving is so expensive, Collie (moved house in 2013 and 2015), but I think a man with a van is the cheapest way, if you need some help. Would your DH be up for hiring a van out, as that would be cheaper still?

CremeEggThief · 28/09/2016 21:34

Ooh I dunno, She'sgotelectricboobs; I'll have to check out the Newcastle to Gatwick connection times!Wink

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 21:45

Creme the last time he drove a van he crashed it and we had to pay hundreds and hundreds. He's not driving! Haha! Our roads are just too narrow, dark & bendy for vans.

Girlie f me that's a lot of money but that's what we have saved up so that's OK!

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 21:46

£160 man & van for us! From a proper moving company Shock f me that's a bargain!

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 21:46

Sorry for all the fucking swearing

8FencingWire · 28/09/2016 21:53

NSD here.
collie, I moved everything with friends and their amazing cars. I had about 12 months of absolute minimal spend, while I was ensuring I have enough money for a larger deposit, furnishing and a little nest.
It can be done, but it's not a lot of fun. I spent every spare minute working my hind off.
I also got a mortgage that gave me £500 cash back, I made sure I chased all the providers I might have overpaid (made £450 this way). It can be done. I'm so happy for you, it'll be so much nicer for you guys!

em, they all sound fantastic!
girlie, have you got a Decathlon near you? They do cheap good sports equipment.

needastrongone · 28/09/2016 22:28

The value of 9 in £8.90 is surely 90p?

needastrongone · 28/09/2016 22:30

The 9 is in the 10th place no?

needastrongone · 28/09/2016 22:30

*tenths... the 9 is in the tenths place?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/09/2016 22:38

Collie That's a total bargain.

If you have an nus card Amazon primes half price. There are ways of getting an nus card.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/09/2016 22:38

Frugal ways.

needastrongone · 28/09/2016 22:43

I ran 6 miles with the club tonight and have watched Bake Off with the DC. I am now knackered, so off to bed!
