Ineedsomehelp
Online Shopping Thread here with good advice about turning shopping habits around and em is also great for advice on this too

mammymammyIRL · 28/09/2016 12:33

I bought 2x fireman sam toys on amazon including delivery from amazon €71.35, it ranges from €48-€55 for one here in Ireland

mammymammyIRL · 28/09/2016 12:33

One will be for dh gs for his birthday in a few weeks and other one will be from Santa for ds

INeedSomeHelp · 28/09/2016 13:04

Thanks mammy that thread is really useful. I definitely need to take my card details off shopping apps. I get the train to work and can easily spend the 30 minute journey shopping - I should really read a book instead!

INeedSomeHelp · 28/09/2016 13:39

Ahh I've got too many things running around my head just now and I know I'm using shopping as a procrastination method!

Shesgotelectricboobs · 28/09/2016 13:54

need walk in wardrobe is my dream - still haven't been outbid on the hush skirt....

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/09/2016 13:57

Ineed write lists. Write down what's in your head out may clear your mind.
Dd potty trained at 2.5 but ds was 3 in the October then did it before December by himself. Don't let nursery force him, be clear that you are waiting until he is ready

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/09/2016 14:48

Brilliant result Mammy.

£225 on car insurance. Less £63 cashback it's £162 for the year.

Halifax wanted £287 to renew. I only drive a Citroen C1, I've had no accidents & a clean licence. It takes the piss.

AGenie · 28/09/2016 15:03

Our house has a big airing cupboard that we fitted out with shelves and hanging space so that we could use it for drying and as a walk-in wardrobe. I have a huge problem getting up the enthusiasm to actually put the clothes in there, and always just bung them in the dryer, which then shrinks them terminally.

Maybe I should focus on the idea of coveting a walk-in wardrobe as a way to motivate myself. It would save a lot of money in ruined clothes. Smile

I have no idea why our airing cupboard is so big either, as the house is not huge. I think it's because the house was built before central heating was invented, so they just had to stick the boiler in the smallest room. Weird!

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 15:14

Fluffy we still haven't worked ours out. It's too damn expensive! Tempted to give up the car completely but that would be awful in Cornwall. Our car is tiny too, DH has never had an accident and has no points on his license. We have a garage & driveway and he (will do) very low mileage. We live in a very safe area. It really does take the piss.

Our insurance was a similar price a few years ago when we had a sports car and lived in the City in the SE. Crime and road rage in abundance. Confused

Cagliostro · 28/09/2016 15:23

Thanks Genie I'll check that out.

Boobs love the name change :o

Two maths and two piano lessons done. Hallway felt like a revolving door this morning :o just the one piano lesson this evening.

I'm going to have to get a few bits at the coop later though, I'll pop in before collecting DD. I will NOT get a fizzy drink. I will not. Actually it's not so hard to resist when the Caglets are with me - as if I get myself a drink I then have to get them one or feel like a big hypocrite. And that adds up fast. £3ish a couple of times a week... not sure I can resist chocolate as well today though...

Going to use up a cookie mix in a moment as we are all hungry.

I have had so much spam from that bloody competition site! Cash back has tracked for it though and I've blocked all the email addresses/text numbers etc.

We've got one of the new fivers with a very early serial number. Apparently that's worth money?! Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/09/2016 15:31

Yes, it's worth keeping.

needastrongone · 28/09/2016 15:59

If you get the skirt for that price, you have indeed got a bargain boobs. Can't believe I have just written 'boobs'....

Just pointing out that I never coveted the walk in wardrobe, it was a feature of the house! It is indeed very useful though, and massive. We keep meaning to fully fit it out, but never do.

The house I grew up in had a huge airing cupboard I recall.

£2.15 in Aldi on crusty bread and a salad. Lovely folk in front of me let me queue jump, how kind. I didn't even ask!.
£20 at the feed shop for layer pellets and horse feed. As I was in the area and now don't need to go tomorrow.

SnugglySnerd · 28/09/2016 15:59

Aww Italian, I feel your pain, it's horrible being ill when you're pregnant and can't take anything. Get well soon!
Finding the potty training tales very reassuring.
Managed an NSD! Hooray!

MeadowHay · 28/09/2016 16:23

Interesting reading about potty training for me as no bambinos for us yet!

Get well soon to everyone who is ill. DH is still ill as well but a lot better than a few days ago.

Today has been a lazy PJ day. I am very bored to be honest I can't wait for my lectures to begin again tomorrow, I need to study again to give me something to do!!

Spent £14.40 on eye primer, I had wanted it for months as it's the best one I've used but is usually £16 but then got a Unidays offer today of 10% off and free delivery so went for it and glad I waited now. Every little bit adds up after all!

Not sure what we are going to do for tea, probably stir fry either in fajitas or with noodles.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 28/09/2016 17:25

need 5 days left on the auction....

Heading home now for baking.

WreckTangled · 28/09/2016 17:43

We had shepherds pie for dinner yum! Possibly one of my favourite winter foods to eat.

AGenie · 28/09/2016 17:48

Need, Thanks for the clarification. I think it might be me that was coveting one. When you and Em were talking about them I was secretly, just a little bit, coveting one. Then I realised that I have one that I am too lazy to properly use, and that that's costing me money in using the dryer. I suddenly realised that I had the perfect motivation to get me moving on hanging clothes up instead. :-)

Now I just need to deal with other problem of coveting Em's shoe collection. MmmmBoots

Shesgotelectricboobs · 28/09/2016 18:34

genie it's not actually much of a collection. I think off hand I have maybe...25 pairs of shoes. Including gym trainers and riding boots.

Lemon cupcakes are baking. Cheese and ham muffins next.

CremeEggThief · 28/09/2016 18:42

It might just be me, but every time I use a Co-op cashpoint they give me £20 notes. I even went into the Co-op bank today to ask them to change said £20 notes into a mixture of £10 and £5 notes, but they wouldn't help, as I didn't have my card (the account is my bills account, so I never use my card for it) or any photo I. D. Grrrr!

Anyway, spends: £10.45 Card Factory. I was only going to buy a birthday card for DS, but ended up getting 3 more birthday cards for upcoming birthdays and 3 packs of 10 Christmas cards for 99p each; £2.75 on a Victoria sponge from M&S; and £2 on a doughnut and latte from Greggs. Oh and £9.70 bus travel. My last free Sainsburys order came just after I got home, so that'll be £44.38 out of my account tomorrow.

Here's my meal plan:
Tonight : veggie cottage pie (homemade from the freezer).
Tomorrow: meal out for DS's birthday.
Friday: veggie burgers and wedges.
Saturday: pizza.
Sunday: Quorn roast with roast potatoes and parsnips, broccoli, carrots, Yorkshires and gravy. First Sunday dinner since April, I think!Smile
Monday: jacket potatoes with cheese and beans for me and cheese and pesto for DS.
Tuesday: veggie sausages, mash, broccoli, peas and gravy.
Wednesday: chilli beans and pasta.
Thursday: tofu and veg stirfry with noodles.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 28/09/2016 18:45

Nsd here. Have barely left the office today. Someone upthread mentioned online shopping.

I deleted all my card details from accounts online. And unsubscribed to the emails. I also set up a separate email address for shopping (useful if you use tcb and can only get cashback as a new user).

I do a lot of online shopping on eBay (which you can link a nectar card to) and also use vouchercloud.

I found deleting account details worked as I rarely have my purse bearby when I shop (unless I really mean to buy something) and I'm lazy so if I'm tucked up in bed I'm unlikely to get up to purse.

Amazon prime is great for almost everything. It's £79 a year (you also get prime tv and kindle library) I think we pay monthly there's a teeny tick box somewhere. Free next day delivery for you guys on the mainland uk. Next day plus one for me here in jersey.

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 18:51

creme £20 are so annoying! And that's really unhelpful of them. Our local Sainsbury's give out £5 notes and it's brilliant. But it's the only cash point I know that does that! Most offer £10 & £20 notes. It drives me mad!

Vegetarian chilli pasta bake for tea! Am excited as I haven't eaten alllll day. wreck shepherds pie is the best! It used to be DSs favourite but he's going through a very fussy stage. This current age is emotional and hard work.

I've packed all my shoes and all the ornaments & fragile stuff! I've got a laundry basket that I'm taking around the house and filling with shite we don't need or use. It's full already!

CremeEggThief · 28/09/2016 18:56

Collie, I knew someone on here would understand my frustration. £20 is so annoying, when you only want low cost items in the shop, or change for the bus. I actually feel anxious if that's what I've got on me; in fact, I wouldn't dare board a bus with a £20 note, after seeing how the drivers treat other passengers with them!

Your tea sounds delicious btw.

mammymammyIRL · 28/09/2016 19:16

Boobs love your name change!!

We had the one pot pasta for dinner yesterday with prawns & I had some for lunch today. Just had homemade wrap pizza used end jar relish, cheese, chorizo, Serrano, two half tomatoes Confused why? And it was seriously good Smile

Sky announced they're putting bill up by another €4 monthly, new provider confirmed they can supply our area, that's €25.40 + Netflix €9.99 saving us €70 monthly Grin probably be a month before its set up Sad

Collieballs · 28/09/2016 19:19

I too fear the wrath of bus drivers when you give them a £10 or £20 note. They terrify me! Haha! I have been known to fritter £5 in a month to break up change for the bus. Grrr. I reckon I'll face the problem again soon.

I wish they'd do an oyster style card down here. It would be amazing!
