That's £21K. Can you recover it?. I feel sick just thinking about it.

CremeEggThief · 03/08/2016 16:15

Ipso!!!ShockShock

Colliefeatures · 03/08/2016 16:17

wreck we got Geox too! But in navy! They are so squishy and comfy.

Ipsos ShockShock oh my days!!!!

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 16:19

That photo is the pepino. They only go up to size 8. The Geox we got this time are navy too wonder if they're the same!

Colliefeatures · 03/08/2016 16:21

fluffy me too. Shit in a bag & punch it. That's a lot of money!

Puts my qualms about selling into perspective Wink screw it.

Ipsos I think you need some reassuring "we all make mistakes" hug. It'll be OK. **

if he knew that the money was a mistake - is that theft? Confused

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 16:43

Blimey Ipsos. I bet there are loads of people who don't know what dads are as companies use different names. Good luck getting it back if you can.

My Dd had big feet and stil does age 8 3/4 size 2.5/3. Her peers are catching up though.

Collie, brexit or not if you need to move go for it. Yes it wil and has had an impact on interest rates but the Bank of England guy seems pretty switched on and you could always go for a 5 year fix to lock in an interest rate. No one knows what will happen once article 50 is invoked. We may well have another recession but no one knows how deep it wil be. If it's what you want and will save you long term then it's tight, life is too short to stress.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 16:44

Fifa dads= dds

Shit in a bag and punch it Grin I likes it

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 16:44

Fifa = ffs, bastard autocorrect.

dwinnol · 03/08/2016 16:51

Hello? Can I join your group? I'm turning over a new financial leaf and could do with the support and inspiration.

Hi Fluffy
I need to stick to the weekly plan I've drawn up to make my money last all month. I really shouldn't struggle but I find monthly budgeting tough and I am a bad impulse shopper.

If DP and I were more controlled we shouldn't have problems making the whole month but unfortunately we are both 'you only live once' types.

We've had tougher times than this and that might be contributing to our decisions now.

lilacclery · 03/08/2016 17:07

Wreck these are the shoes I bought ds on Sunday except in a tan colour, he loves them as does dh, I preferred the grey but seeing as he didn't wear the last grey pair of boots we bought there was little point buying another pair

Colliefeatures · 03/08/2016 17:08

lifelong I could hug you! Exactly what I needed to hear. Moving will change our lives completely Smile

yes, Carney seems very switched on!

The mad solicitor gave me a very high quote so we shan't be using him. anyway

And relax!!

wreck I reckon our boys have the same shoes! Or very very similar. :)

Colliefeatures · 03/08/2016 17:09

Welcome dwinnol we are fritterers too! Blush

dwinnol · 03/08/2016 17:13

Thanks Collie
I took DS out for the day and only spent £3.80 today! I'm very proud of myself!
And earlier in the week I didn't give in to impulse to buy some hair treatment stuff and karma rewarded me by revealing a boxes touché eclat in the cupboard is forgotten about. There is hope!

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/08/2016 17:26

It's harder when your both spenders. How would you feel leaving your purse at home?.

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 17:27

Welcome dwinnol!

I expect so collie!

Lilac Ds had tan ones and dd purple. They matched for a while Grin

lilacclery · 03/08/2016 17:33

Welcome dwinnol
Aww super cute wreck

lilacclery · 03/08/2016 17:36

Just realised we're coming towards the end of this thread. I promise to be more faithful to the next one, I've been scatty on this one.

My paycheque tomorrow is €80 more than usual, I'm going out for a meal on Friday night so this will more than cover my night out without me reducing any savings or repayments

dwinnol · 03/08/2016 17:36

Fluffy I'm not sure, I've never considered it but it does sound like a good idea. My car is 100% electric so my old excuse of needing petrol won't wash. The school holidays are tough and last month was terrible as DS was leaving primary and I paid out for so many things I hadn't budgeted for (photos special hoody trips etc).
I'm determined this month will be better starting with going to aldi to fill the fridge and stop popping to our mini tesco to spend. £20 every evening. Blush

dwinnol · 03/08/2016 17:37

Thanks wrecked

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/08/2016 17:50

I think picnics might just save you money. Loads of money goes on eating out. You are so lucky having an electric car.

Instead of buying high street products like hair treatments it can be a lot cheaper to buy professional products off amazon etc. I think my deep conditioner was £8 for 500ml and its Schwartzkopf Q10 for fragile hair OK aged hair

Boots chemist was a weakness of mine years ago. My old accountant literally couldn't believe it.

£50 to Dh to buy his old iPhone
£10 petrol
£1 work stuff.

ipsogenix · 03/08/2016 18:03

I am sorting 6 years of paper bank statements in to page number order.

ipsogenix · 03/08/2016 18:26

So! It turns out that my bank thing is quite interesting and a useful lesson for me.

It seems that I opened a regular savings account 7 years ago and set up a standing order to send £250 a month to it. I then realised that the customer services at that bank was rubbish and closed the account, but the standing order did not get cancelled (oops).

After that time the payment was going over and bouncing back every month for 6 years. It's shown on all my old statements. However recently the account number of my old account was reallocated to a new customer (in February of this year), and he started receiving my payments. Isn't that weird?

It seems he sent three of them back and then started complaining to his bank, who did nothing. It's only now that he's finally complained to my bank.

It makes me realise that my own finances need to be radically simplified so that I can keep track properly. I am thinking now about how to do that.

Yikes!
