Thank you for all your lovely messages, it's great to be back. It turned out my bleed was just a random burst blood vessel, as in 10% of cases. It doesn't need surgical repair and if you're going to have a bleed then it's the best one to have!

need glad you're enjoying Florida. The junior cricket season is over now so DS just has senior games on Saturdays and some Sundays, much more manageable.

I've just read back through the last couple of days on the thread, it seems most people are suffering similar cool, wet weather, such a shame for the summer hols.

Dd is at my parents house for 3 days which had been planned as cover for me working. She has a really close relationship with my mum and is having a fab time. Ds has a friend sleeping over and is generally doing not very much, as is common for nearly 15yo boys! Later he will be helping dh clear out the loft ready for the conversion to start next week. Maybe not quite what my recovery needs but I've had lots of offers of places to go if the noise is too much!
I'm going to try to make the food we have in the freezer etc last out as much as possible between now and the holiday and really run down stocks, only topping up with fresh stuff. Last night we had a lovely salad using up some slightly wilted salad leaves. Tonight is going to be spaghetti with sausagemeat balls & a tomato sauce hopefully made by ds.

Love the idea of the lists, will post mine later.

northender · 03/08/2016 06:59

wreck hope dd's eye improves quickly

Ememem84 · 03/08/2016 07:29

We are on holiday on Thursday next week. So I'm not doing a food shop until August 19th.

Am out tonight for dinner and theatre with dm. Tomorrow is a BBQ at fils (will be expected to drink my bodyweight in wine then get looks of pity/disgust when I mention that a) I have to work on Friday and b) I'm driving) then possibly dinner with Bil on Friday.

Weather has gone back to rain. Ick.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 07:42

Welcome back north, pleased it was one of the lover scale bleeds. Do rest up though and take up the offers of help.
Sounds like a lovely evening em.
Need ikwym both about the heat dreading Majorca and the competitive circles, tayto too. Ballet is not so bad, yet but it will come.

Spendy day today in town after the gym.

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 08:28

I've just redeemed the nectar points for two pizza express pizzas. Not sure when I'll use it. Could do it today if the dc are driving me crazy

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 08:37

That reminds me I want the cinema vouchers. What's the expiry date wreck please?

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 08:39

You have to do it by the 9th August and the expiry date is 30th September

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 08:42

Fab thanks

Cagliostro · 03/08/2016 10:29

Hi all :)

North yikes :( glad you're back. Please, please take it easy Thanks

We stayed at mum's for a few days so pretty frugal, other than a day in London. The show at the Globe was fab, DD especially has been really inspired and asked to do Macbeth next. My Usborne friend added a story version of it to my order for the grand sum of 80p :o. The Globe gift shop though. Oh my word I could've spent an absolute fortune in there (in the event, £11 - but going to email them as the pen leaked everywhere less than 48hrs after buying it!).

The good news is we don't have to get a new bike for DD! It's cost £100 to get both bikes fixed/serviced, which is a lot, but cheaper than getting just one repaired AND buying a new one for DD. So that's good. Need to sort out the smallest one and try and sell that if we can. Dad dropped them off for us yesterday, DH is now walking home with them as the bus driver wouldn't let him on with the bikes... so that's saved a few quid I guess.

Friend picking up marble run today for a tenner. DCs are getting 10% each of any toy selling money (I know that sounds really stingy - but the remaining 80% will be going on fun family things anyway so they do benefit from all of it!).

Yesterday was spendy, although I got £20 for piano lessons which more than paid for the (lazy) dinner stuff we picked up on the way home.

Omg my three year old had size 11 feet.

So new shoes for ds and school shoes for dd £76.

The pizza express code is on all mains the lady told me not just pizza if anyone is interested.

lilacclery · 03/08/2016 12:13

Wow wreck that's a big foot!!

Dd only in size 13 & she's 6. Ds is 3 in nov & in 8.5 shoes and that's considered quite big for his age!

needastrongone · 03/08/2016 13:10

YY to teenage boys, about the age of 14/16 doing very little on occasion North.

Ipsos, the washing machine drum here is absolutely huge, in typical American fashion. I put yesterdays clothes in tub to wash and waiting for 5 seconds for them to hit the bottom Smile Seriously, I bet you could do 2/3 times the amount of clothes in one wash than in the UK. Frugal win.

Hope DD's eye is ok wrecked.

Day off from theme parks today, we all need it, we've done 4 days in a row. Bought enough stuff to do a lasagna for tea, might need salad.

ipsogenix · 03/08/2016 13:22

I know what you mean need. Is it a top-loader? They are so different.

BertieTodd · 03/08/2016 13:52

Spends today:

€2 clothes pegs
€3 heel grips, my feet seem to fluctuate in size quite a bit and I have lots of shoes that are a little too big, a friend suggesting putting heel grips in them, if it works, it could be a major frugal win.

Meeting a friend for dinner and a catch up later so that will probably be about €20.

needastrongone · 03/08/2016 13:54

Lord, sorry, auto-correct is a bit sensitive for some reason here. My spelling and grammar is suffering. Yes, it's a top-loader. It has a myriad of different washing options. Naturally, the rest of the family haven't even bothered trying to figure it out......

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 15:11

£12 pizza express including tip
£3.10 parking.

Have just painted the dc's nails and we went to the park.

I'm tired now and I'm going out tonight.

Sierra259 · 03/08/2016 15:15

£48 for dental hygienist but can claim half back on Simplyhealth plan.

Slow, relaxing day here today. DC1 at nursery all day, DC2 has been napping a lot on me which is nice especially as it gives me an excuse not to do housework

BertieTodd · 03/08/2016 15:32

I'm not sure if it was here or elsewhere I saw them mentioned but has anyone used an energy monitor and are they a good investment?

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2016 15:38

£15.50 matalan, £40 aldi, £48 sainsburys, £4 later for class.

I think it's fluffy with a monitor for energy.

Colliefeatures · 03/08/2016 15:39

wreck that's cool! I hate the toddler selection of boys shoes. Can't wait for DS to be in normal boys footwear. The shoes get so much more fun as their feet grow. He's 3 and has size 6 feet.

Right so just phoned a solicitor who begged me not to sell the house because of Brexit Confused please tell me that he was just a mad old man.....? Ive got a serious case of the willies now and we NEED to relocate to be nearer DHs work. Need to for nursery, school, for jobs, for the extra time not spent commuting, for the money saved on not commuting, for the less stressed not caused by commuting. You get the idea!

Sad
ipsogenix · 03/08/2016 15:42

Bertie I use a Loop monitor and it's fantastic.

You are never going to believe the phone call that I just received.

I got a phone call from a bank manager in another city who has had a complaint from a customer. Apparently my account is paying the man £250 a month for no reason at all. Apparently it's been doing that for the last 7 years, and he just came forward now to mention it.

I looked at my statement and I knew about the payment but thought it was my pension payment, which it turns out that it wasn't. I really must learn to understand my bank statement better. (I had no idea that I was this stupid)

So that explains why I am not saving money at anything like the rate I thought I should be. I knew something was wrong, and that's why I joined the frugaleers a year ago. It's taken the help of a complete stranger to get to the bottom of the problem though.

Good grief.

Whataboutwhathuh · 03/08/2016 15:47

Ipso oh my goodness. Will you get any of it back?!

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 15:51

Oh collie ds is a clown in comparison! Pepino do that size like these: this time we got Geox.

Wow ipsos that's crazy

WreckTangled · 03/08/2016 15:53

Oops, likes these

I can't think of a witty title, so here is July's Frugaleer Thread! All welcome.
Sierra259 · 03/08/2016 15:58

Blimey ipsos! He's been getting £250 a month for 7 years, and he's only just noticed??
