You really are NOT that parent wrecked, I promise. Sounds like the school are being less than understanding. I would be more than upset. There are some battles you do need to fight on behalf of your DC. Flowers

WreckTangled · 28/04/2016 20:34

Thanks. I always worry I'm over reacting and they'll think 'oh no not bloody wreck moaning again'!

babsmam · 28/04/2016 20:36

Wreck. I would be in there like a shot. I would be saying something. You are not that parent

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/04/2016 21:40

Yeah thats really not on wreck the only thing I would say is you may want to clarify exactly what the issue is. My dd recently came home upset at being made to stay in at lunchtime, her version was that the teacher said her perfectly neat work was too messy. When i spoke to the teacher she said her work was rushed, messy and when the teacher suggested it wasn't her best work dd rolled her eyes and huffed Blush

Not suggesting that is the case with your dd but sometimes there is more to it iyswim.

I have been quite industrious tonight and made a vat of bolegnaise, will feed us for a couple of days and will be enough to freeze several portions as well.

WreckTangled · 28/04/2016 21:42

I thought that girlie so I've put in the note that if it was because she was meson around then I agree she should stay in to do it. I did ask dd though and told her I wouldn't be cross and she assured me she wasn't, she's way too scared to mess around at school she's like me and cries at even constructive criticism Grin

blueteapot · 28/04/2016 22:23

Aw wreck Id definitely ask about it too, if only to clarify as above.

Was at a course today, which was nice, but a 2.5 hour drive away! Lunch with a friend who paid this time (we take turns). Needed a few things topup wise (dishwasher tabs mostly) but also DD needed new tights and a few light cardigans - the majority of her (extensive!) wardrobe is hand me downs from her cousins so she never really needs much - £23 all in.

Just done a mountain of ironing - 'tomorrow me' will be thrilled lol that its off the agenda :)

blueteapot · 28/04/2016 22:31

Its much nicrr doing 3 days babs :) thanks for asking. For a while there I was feeling quite low but it really has made a difference. Just need to watch the pennies now so we can keep saving albeit much more difficult.

That couponing mum is awesome fluffy. Must get back into using shopitize etc

Karcheer · 28/04/2016 22:42

So I popped back to the supermarket and got some milk, cranberry juice and 6 pack of crisps.

Thoughts on what I can make for dinner tmr night. I've a pack of button mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, cheese (cheddar, small bit of goat and a Camembert) ...

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 28/04/2016 22:46

I have a new best thing!! I did feel a bit sad watching the water drip out if my new really old but perfect spin dryer. Over a pint from some school jumpers, jeans and tshirts! So that was £20, and 150 miles of fuel in my C1. Did stop at pets at home, aldi and poundstretcher on the way home for "bits".

And I had a quiet afternoon on my own, which is unheard of. Darlingtons streets are a bit of a maze, I drove past the right house three times! babs my nearest town is Carlisle, but can easily cross country for frugal wins! Massive snow storm on the way home.

CremeEggThief · 28/04/2016 22:47

Karcheer, some sort of mushroom, cheese and tomato tart or quiche would be lovely. I would cheat and use ready-rolled pastry, but if you like baking, you could make your own.

SpaceKablooie · 28/04/2016 22:50

north, I had to Google what a Jacob's Join was - we call it a fuddle Smile.

blueteapot · 28/04/2016 23:05

Creme I was just going to say quiche! That or a mushroom risotto with lovely cheese on

babsmam · 29/04/2016 06:09

That's good blue, I'm pleased you like 3 days.
Thanks knitt. My nearest town is darlington that's why I asked. It can be a bit of a rabbit warren.

Dd has been complaining of knee pain with no obvious cause. Not sure whether to keep her off school to rest, take her to the doctors or send her as normal.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/04/2016 06:33

I'm glad you like it Knitting, they are fab little machines. How long did it take to dry them after that?.

Ememem84 · 29/04/2016 06:45

Went out last night for a dinner with sort of clients - colleagues from a private bank we use. Drove as have a busy day today. Was hassled for hour and a half for not drinking.
I also ate far too much garlic. But earned myself £20 on my pub loyalty card. So thanks to the drinkers last night.

blueteapot · 29/04/2016 08:02

My mum had one of those spin dryers and loved it! How fast does it spin?

Ipsos · 29/04/2016 09:11

That's amazing about Dick van Dyke Girlie. Such a shame to think of someone like that being ill for years too. I'm glad twitter managed to solve his problem. I'm looking askance at my amalgam fillings now.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/04/2016 09:32

Morning all. it's my day off woo hoo!!

Am looking round at the state of the flat and not feeling particularly inspired to sort it out, will have to do some bits though.

Am having a worry about my diabetic cat, his insulin dose is still increasing and he is now on 5 units am and pm, the bottles are 100 units so he is going to need two and a half bottles a month if my maths is right? Thats without including the needles and all the other diabetic stuff he needs. It is going to cost an absolute fortune, my conservative estimate is at least £60 a month Sad I love my cat but sheesh!! He is insured for the next 10 months so will have to see how it goes I guess.

Still not hard anything regarding progress on my house so going to email the solicitor again.

Babs growing pains?

Anyone else thinking that if we end up leaving the EU it will be a disaster financially? This is also worrying me!!

Ipsos · 29/04/2016 09:33

Girlie This is a very interesting article about CFS and fillings. It says that CFS is often just a results of the body getting stuck in fight or flight mode. That's definitely what it feels like to me. I just got stressed to the nines after years of looking after an ill child.

Ds's new headteacher has been fabulous and is suggested that we calm right down on ambition at home and listen to calm story tapes, lying on cushions with ds every day instead. She also said that when I see him struggling with tiredness and getting towards going down with a virus he could have a few afternoons off to recuperate, so that the illness can perhaps be averted. Isn't that the most sensible thing you ever heard? I could have hugged her.

I'm going to go and listen to my soothing story tape now.... Zzzzzz

beesarethebest · 29/04/2016 09:39

cag posted the coins this morning! Sorry I didn't even realise there was a pm!

Off to London now. Have a good day!

CremeEggThief · 29/04/2016 11:57

Have you moved schools, Ipsos? It's lovely to have an understanding head. Most of them are under so much pressure to achieve targets and boost performance these daysSad. I definitely believe my CFS was related to all the shock and stress I went through after my marriage broke down, and I was left a single parent without a job in an area we had only lived for 2 and a half years.

babsmam · 29/04/2016 13:05

Not sure if it's growing pains or a twisted knee. I've sent her to school and spoken to her teacher. We shall see.
Nsd as staying in for lunch as the weather is awful.

Cagliostro · 29/04/2016 14:44

Hi everyone! Thanks for the kind words. I'm fine, but our internet went down! Somehow I survived without it for a few days :o and it was an external fault so they just sent an engineer to our street, nothing to pay thankfully.

Fascinating about dental implants. I only have one filling so I don't think that would count? No idea what it's made of.

Got your PM thank you Bees and also thank you to, I assume, Unescorted (as you'd mentioned AUS$ I think?) the coin with kangaroos on was a particular hit! Thanks

I spoke to ACAS and they were reassuring that my line manager really shouldn't have said what she did. So I feel more confident in bringing that up in the meeting, which is on Tuesday. He gave me some words to throw in like 'fair process' etc. So thank you to all who encouraged me to phone them and not take this lying down. Thanks

Anyway must carry on getting DD ready now, she's off to Brownie camp tonight :) and DS and I are staying at mum's. Will catch up properly later.

Blue They spin at 2800rpm. I think they're a no brainer.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 29/04/2016 14:58

Enforced NSD as I have accidentally left my purse at home. Did take a bit of petty cash for lunch though.

The dryer was quicker, and the water collector only half full, google recons it spins at 2800rpm, clothes much drier than washing machine 1600 spin.

Have made it to the last day of my 2 week meal plan! With just the one day where we had fish and chips instead of pork casserole (tired from running an event- club time trial the night before). Will do the same for the next 2 weeks as both freezers still full.
