Hi All,
Taking the liberty of starting a new thread, as I went to post spends on the old one and it's full.

We had a lovely day out at the seaside and visited an old lighthouse as part of it. As we rely on public transport, that's always a big part of our days out spend.
£9.60 bus fares.
£9.60 train fares (with the family railcard).
£6 lunch from Sainsburys ( £3 meal deal each).
£4.50 entrance to the lighthouse.
£7.10 coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in a café afterwards.

Oh and DS needed a haircut, which I think was £6.50.

I always do price comparisons and go via a cashback website for insurance, so I'll do that for the contents and car insurance. I'd rather not pay monthly if I can afford to pay it upfront because I can do without having yet another direct debit coming out every month!

Need to get some bread after I've picked DS up from school but it's been a pretty low spend week so far.

Oh, and good news - my child maintenance is on the way! I can see it on my banking app under 'pending payments', so hopefully I'll have that by Monday. Phew!

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/04/2016 15:36

I try and pay upfront for insurance.

Nsd. Tuna mornay (with mash) for dinner

babsmam · 08/04/2016 16:17

Spendy day shipping for first communion dress at retail mall. DM paid so that's great. It's so hard to get proper white so had to do for as near to white as possible ivory. Got to get shoes but that will be later in case she grows
£15 lunch, £15 Disney shop, £30 build a bear and my voucher had expired boo, £6 paper chase.

WreckTangled · 08/04/2016 16:45

Scrap that. I found £10 in my purse and I'm putting it towards a take away.

CremeEggThief · 08/04/2016 17:08

Grin at Wreck. Enjoy!

Just worked out who you are now, PurpleRibbons. Super name.

Excellent Frugaleering, Lucsy.

Very generous of your DM, Babs. First Communions and Confirmations are expensive occasions. Sounds as if you had a good day out.

NSD.

Yep it's polish eve
I saved diesel after finishing work I was 20 mins early to pick up my race pack for tomorrow but to go back for it later would be an extra 14 miles, they were there so sorted!

Got my eyebrows done €7 badly needed

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/04/2016 18:25

Had lovely day at the park, not been home long!

Spends were

£1 lolly for dd
£1 sweets for dd and her friend
£1.60 tea for me
£6 for dd to go on the low ropes.

Not too bad for a fab day out, was a fairly new friendship with one of the school gate mums who is also a single parent. Kids got on really well and was nice to chat to someone who understands the trials and tribulations of being a lone parent!!

Think the 'casserole' will be going to the cats, Collie I think a recipe is def the way to go Grin oh well that'll teach me to try and be adventurous Wink

So I've tried to leave BT as we bought our 12 month contract a year ago next week. I even have the email to say so! I kept the email they sent me a year ago. And yet BT have added a month on to my contract randomly making it a 13 monther ending in May! Hmm this is so typical of BT.

I've just complained. They are "looking into it". In the meantime I have to pay a £86 ish for leaving and another £55 because I have "equipment". The equipment being an out of date shitty router.

They just get worse and worse!! Sad cannot believe I'm being charged £141 for wanting to end my contract that was supposed to be ending on the 13th April anyway. It's just so sly of them.

Something so straight forward has turned into a nightmare

Collie BT are awful Angry who are you swapping to? I went to EE and they paid the transfer cost. I am sure they can't just add a bloody month though!! Someone from BT rang last week to try and convince me to go back to them and I said never in a million years and put the phone down!!

£13 on getting the new car cleaned, well worth it. That was inside and out.

DH wants a takeaway tonight but I've said no and we are having leftovers from the freezer.

WreckTangled · 08/04/2016 18:56

Lucsy that's brilliant!

Collie have you tried social media?

Girlie it's always nice forming new friendships.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 08/04/2016 19:03

Just been catching up with you all!

money def look into doing car tax monthly, I do that now and its much easier. I also put £50 a month a way just for car related things like insurance, service, MOT and if anything needs replacing like tyres. Has worked quite well so far.

Dont Brew and Chocolate hope your foot starts to feel better soon. I'm really sorry but have forgotten what you have had done to it, if you need any nursing advice on dressings etc let me know!

Lucsy I am impressed at 7 NSD in a row! Star And well done on getting the sofas replaced, I think you get the frugalleer badge of honour this week Wink

Purpleribbons Confused I'm sure I will work it out soon!

Colliefeatures · 08/04/2016 19:14

lucsy that's amazing! So glad you've had some luck. Xx

girlie yeah I actually said similar when they tried to keep me! As if I'd stay after the way they treated me Grin.

wreck such a good idea! Thanks

The Sainsbury's shop is due soon. Bit worried as some of their subs can be ridiculous and they don't refund the difference if the sub is more expensive :(

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/04/2016 19:28

Lucsy I am so bloody pleased for you. The boiler will make such a difference in the winter. I need to ask mil how much her bills went down by. M&S are good at customer service.

Collie Once more into the breach. [email protected] CEO email for BT. They can't just change a previously agreed contract like that. No way I'm seeing you pay all that without a fight. They wont want to go to ofcom, make it clear you will be contacting the regulator.

Cagliostro · 08/04/2016 19:46

Collie do they not?! (re: sainsburys subs price match) that's a bit rubbish. I love that Tesco do it. This week I'd ordered a 400g loaf of GF bread, they subbed it with two 300g loaves so a massive saving. I hope they at least give you the opportunity to check and decline subs.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 08/04/2016 20:03

Wow, just had a quiet hour catching up on 13 pages!

Super day out yesterday at center parcs, dsis's treat for my 40th (later this year). Spent just £4 and found a quid on the floor (which I picked up)! All very tired and ratty today. Did 22000 steps, 10 miles, a record for me!

Bailed in morrisons and bought all the dc the lunch/toy/earphones they wanted. Too tired to negotiate! £100, but got food as well. End if the holidays, so back to being frugal and planning next week.

Colliefeatures · 08/04/2016 20:06

Fluffy thank you so much for the email address. I just forwarded the original contract to him, listed all the things that went wrong in the last 12 months and asked him "since when are contracts extended without notice?". And why on earth should I pay a ridiculous fee for ending my contract when it was originally due to end.

Grrr! Grin

Cag no they don't. Last week we ordered £1.50 blueberries and they subbed it for £3.50 summer fruit mix. But they don't mention the price of the subbed product on the paperwork you receive - it's only on the receipt. I wasn't wearing my glasses at the time and missed it! My fault
