Grin at Need. We all love your pony stories. Hope your DD has a good trip away.

Laska5772 · 23/03/2016 21:35

Ooo hello Frugaleers , I have been so busy this week , that ive not had time to catch up again , but just marking my place so I dont lose you all..

A tight month , but I think im there , wedding weekend was great, dress admired and I felt great in it , (definately worth the money Dh spent on it Grin) , and the whole weekend was not any more spendy than planned. but am now having an unplanned quick dash over to Brighton for a friends 50th party at a resturant on Friday evening , which is extra to budgetted finances (she wasnt going to do anything , but has been persuaded to now, and im really glad she has ) .

Then the poor pusscat had a vets visit ( abcess from a bite or scratch ) this week , so all in all it looks like I might need to take £150 out of the savings to cover both of those , ( fingers crossed the cat doesnt have to go back ) . ..

oh no.. more than that.. I need to buy a birthday present for said friend .. probably another £30 on top?

(ah well ..looks like it could be a lot of Beanz for us next month then ..Smile )

Posting and running.. am knackered .. will try and catch up tomorrrow..

Hope you are all Frugalling fit and no FruFlu about .

Laska5772 · 23/03/2016 21:38

But just saw your post girlie.. sending you and DD ((((hugs)))).. Hope she is onth emend soon..

bootygirl · 23/03/2016 22:03

Hugs girlie

Spent €30 on food. Chicken curry left overs for tomorrow. Left with €70 till 1st! I can do it😉

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/03/2016 22:24

Thanks all, can't really believe it happened tbh. I knew she was poorly obviously but just thought it was normal viral stuff but on the Friday she went down hill scarily fast. I am now going to be advocating to everyone I know to get the flu jab for themselves and their kids!!

Going to bed now but will catch up with thread properly tomorrow.

Cagliostro · 23/03/2016 22:28

Not caught up with thread yet but oh god Girlie I'm really sorry, how terrifying! Healing hugs xxx

Ememem84 · 23/03/2016 22:40

My brain is full of fluff tonight so can't remember where you said roughly you were but need yes come offshore. It's the best! Ha!

Just woken up from a couch nap. Feeling all sorts of confused.

Wakking to work tomorrow as car is in the shop. Looked at our last service bill and it cost £164 (including 2new tyres and an oil change). That was three years ago. Am expecting more... But it's all been budgeted for.

Cagliostro · 24/03/2016 00:16

Spendy day today, but incredible. Too hyped up to sleep now!

£48.80 transport Shock (bus/train/shuttle bus/taxi)
£40.75 gift shop - postcards, Gryffindor Christmas tree decoration :o and a birthday present for DSD
£27.42 food

babsmam · 24/03/2016 05:54

Gosh yes it was your HP day cag. Was it good?
Got at sainsburys order for tomorrow £74.
Hi laska, pleased about the dress. Do you get to wear it again at the birthday party?

WreckTangled · 24/03/2016 06:36

Today will be very very spendy. I'm taking out £160 cash and my friend owes me £50 for her share of the hotel. I'm going to get my nose pierced and try on bridesmaid dresses whilst I wait for her to finish work Grin dd's Easter service first she's in the choir and has a line to say Smile

Ememem84 · 24/03/2016 06:56

cag Harry Potter...???! I'm so jealous. I've been wanting to go for ages!

8FencingWire · 24/03/2016 07:06

Hello all. Haven't propely caught up with the thread, but girlie, so sorry you had to go through this!

Well, let me tell you about my out of body experience. I needed petrol, so I pulled in, pulled the card out and paid for it. I felt 'the frugaleer's high', let me tell you, i can't actually explain, but I've NSD'd for so long, it felt WEIRD spending money. GrinGrinGrin
They forgot to pay me some of the overtime I did. It's ok, I'll get more next month.

I have opted to work this Easter, will have a day off on Monday though, planning a nice day out having afternoon tea somewhere. We're celebrating DD's school report.
I got paid today, so redistributed my money into various pots.

jobrum · 24/03/2016 08:25

Yesterday was on track to be a no spend day except that when I arrived at nursery to pick dd up (earlier than normal to go to the sea lide centre with our pass) she was still fast asleep and didn't rouse with a bit of prodding. So I went for a coffee! So £3.60 spent yesterday and we went on the swings instead.

I've made some purchases the last couple of days but they were all things things I was planning to buy anyway. New vests from Morrisons half the price of Mothercare and just as good quality. New set of underwear for me at about 70% discount!

Cagliostro · 24/03/2016 08:45

It was flipping incredible! I still can't believe we actually got to go. Best customer service I've ever experienced as well - from all the many staff we spoke to. They were wonderfully accommodating too - I asked to borrow one of their folding stools (so I could sit down when I needed) and they immediately suggested I skip the queue and go in through a side door rather than standing for 20mins. We're going to send a card. :)

It is a VERY spendy place though - photo opportunities (green screen!), shops, butterbeer etc. Would absolutely be out of our league normally (DH took DSD a couple of years ago for her birthday, but none of us joined them).

DH has had his final pay today and even with all bills and rent we'll be in the black. Hurrah! He starts work on Monday at 9. Luckily on the Friday he's doing a late shift which means he can have the DCs while I go to my rheumatology appt so no childcare needed. Also he gets paid 4 weekly rather than monthly so that'll be odd, we'll have to keep track in the diary. As well as the rota as apparently they get 3 weeks at a time.

needastrongone · 24/03/2016 09:05

Cag DD went in January, she absolutely loved it, glad you enjoyed it. She's now saving for an interactive wand for when we go to Florida in August Grin Rip off for sure, but her money. Claims butter beer was the nicest thing she ever tasted.

Dropped DD off at 5am this morning as she's going snowboarding with school. I've already had 8 messages, so I'm glad she's boarded the plane now. She's a sharer, DS is more 'need to know' with his information.

I'm taking quite a lot of stuff back for refunds today, and only need milk. However I'm going to sort the airport parking today, chalk it off the list.

Fluffy DH finally gets the new car today, after many months. They've honoured the original deal, and given back 2 months payments, so hopefully at the end, the resale value will be of a car that is 8 months younger with less mileage. They never found the fault.

EvaDelectorskaya · 24/03/2016 09:15

Thanks for the welcomesSmile.
Girliefriend, that sounds terrifying, poor you, I hope DD is back to herself soon.
Spends yesterday were €1.50 in work canteen.

Pointlessfan · 24/03/2016 09:44

That sounds brilliant cag, pleased you enjoyed it.
I've already spent £4.75 today on a massive box of tea bags, the workmen drink gallons of tea! No more spending planned for today though, going to library and might call round at a friend's.

needastrongone · 24/03/2016 09:56

£65 for meet and greet parking for 2 weeks, plus cash back and a £10 loaded FairFX card. Think that's a good deal for parking personally.

needastrongone · 24/03/2016 11:07

Okay, and I know this isn't really in the frugal spirit of the thread, but DH was insistent, and I actually am quite pleased with the price. Upgraded our seats to premium club, for all 4 of us, for £300.

That price includes fast pass security, extra luggage, airport lounge access, all our food and drinks on board.

Shit, does that sound boastful? I expected that to be the price per person and for me to say 'oh ok' in a small voice and put the phone down Confused

OP posts:
CremeEggThief · 24/03/2016 11:09

Oh fab, Cag. You sound so boosted by it. DS and I went in 2013 and had a great time. We shared a butter beer to keep it frugal Grin.

Wreck, have a great time in London Smile.

I am going for lunch and a spa afternoon with a friend soon. Very excited! I got a deal for £25 for 2, including use of facilities and a coffee and pastry a while back. Then any treatments we book will be 20% off. I might just treat myself to a short massage!

CremeEggThief · 24/03/2016 11:10

I think that's fair enough, Need. You can afford it and it will enhance your experience, so why not?

lilacclery · 24/03/2016 11:48

I've about 15 pages to catch up. Haven't fallen off the frugal wagon just the thread. Will post from today on but will catch up with everyone here as I get through reading. Hope everyone is good and enjoying Easter break Smile

WreckTangled · 24/03/2016 11:53

Need that's a great price I would have done the same.

Thanks creme and you!

So far £2.50 coffee
£21 train ticket
£30 renewing my railcard.

Ememem84 · 24/03/2016 12:42

cag sounds amazing. So glad you enjoyed it. It's our 5th wedding anniversary in July. The theme I think is wood. I'm badgering Dh to buy me a replica wand.
My watch battery ran out today. Annoying. So I popped into h Samuel and was told they couldn't do it unless they sent it away and it would take 4 weeks and cost me £60.

Declined and went to local small family run jewellers. The old boy did it in 5 minutes and it only cost me £4.

As I'm still feeling rubbish and am struggling a bit here today bought myself s chicken and cheese toastie. So bad. But so good.

Pointlessfan · 24/03/2016 12:46

That's a good deal need.
I have to pay our workmen £1000, so much for it being a low spend day! Luckily we had saved up for this.
