Welcome newbies!

Very spendy weekend brought dh & DS's to cinema €60! Their aunt gave them €20! So that meant I spent €40.
Batman v's superman it was ok. But I felt that it was setting up the justice league.

Then mil treated us to lunch on Easter Sunday. Spent €145 on clothes 2 Blazers 1 shirt & 1 t-shirt top. 😳 I need to lose a stone but these will still fit when I do! I wish we had a uniform at work!! I think I need to create one!?

I went over food budget by €70 😳😳😔 I have decided to change it to a weekly amount as opposed to monthly. I really should be able to stick to it.. I know gluten & diary free for me & school dinners are pushing it up but this is ridiculous!

We ve all had a virus I am started feeling better today but no energy last few days along with swollen glands. 🤕

Colliefeatures · 31/03/2016 13:40

Bagged myself a very good job. It's part time too!

sigh of relief

WreckTangled · 31/03/2016 13:42

Wow collie that's amazing! What's it doing?

We're thinking of getting a cat....we would love a dog but we thought a cat would be more manageable at this stage in our lives?

Lovetoknit · 31/03/2016 14:20

Welcome newbies
Well done collie great news Wine and Flowers
ipsos hopefully you can now get a proper help for your son
NSD yesterday
£42 at Tesco and £11 at Aldi but shouldn't need anything else for at least week and a half

babsmam · 31/03/2016 14:54

Hurrah collie.
£45 mot, £10 CO op, £3.50 skate park

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/03/2016 15:12

Cag It's a £1000 twice in a 60-70 day period. Or you can pay £250 in, transfer it to an account at another bank & then transfer it back online.

I moved £250 backwards and forwards to qualify.

needastrongone · 31/03/2016 16:22

Brilliant news Collie, that's fantastic. Really pleased for you.

I've booked the car into the garage as I've got a slow puncture. It's a company car, so work will cover that.

£25 in Aldi on extras for DS's trip, and lots of bacon and bread rolls for the weekend comp, much cheaper than buying bacon sarnies there.

£350 on a new dishwasher, integral, fitted and the old one taken away. Bought from a small and local independent outfit. It's a SMEG, so I feel that's a great price. The one that has broken is a Neff, but it's been Naff, more like.

I picked up some Aldi branded coffee pods today, compatible with the Nespresso machines. £1.75 I think for 10. Really very tasty.

Yay collie!!

I love checking in and seeing the last few posts on "threads I'm on" are happy news/congrats ones!

£4.45 in a sandwich a fruit pot and a small bag of popcorn at lunchtime.

Shocker of a day. Boss in a foul mood which put all of us on edge. He the. Took a call from one of my clients who demanded that he get a new admin person. Apparently I'm not good enough because I don't name files properly and don't turn things around quick enough same day sometimes same hour response isn't good enough

I'm not hugely bothered. Because he's a massive pita. And was doing my head in with his demands. Never wished me happy new year or Christmas or bought me a gift...! and is a general douche.

It's going to be fun finding someone else to deal with him....

Colliefeatures · 31/03/2016 18:46

Thanks everyone :)

It's a job for a legal firm. So we will be financially comfortable now.

However we will keep living frugally (have increased the grocery budget slightly) as we need to start overpaying the mortgage as quickly as possible. We need equity to move house. Both our jobs are in another town and the primary school here is awful. Plus I'm really struggling in a house. I need a bungalow Blush

Excited!!

Oh my good Em he sounds like an absolute git! Grrrr.

Wolfcub · 31/03/2016 18:58

Congratulations Collie.

Sorry you've had a crappy day Em

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 31/03/2016 19:13

Hi all, Collie thats amazing news well done!!

We have had a fab day, went to the beach and the sun has shone all day Smile has been spendy though;

£4.50 parking
£10 in the arcades Blush
£10 on fish n chips, ices creams and drinks.

Home now and just enough time for a film before dd goes to bed.

Can't believe the April thread is nearly full and its not even April yet Shock Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 31/03/2016 19:28

Wreck cats are definitely easier to manage than a dog imo, have a look round a couple of local rescue centres they will give you a good idea of whats involved. Be warned though cats can get expensive, you need to factor in food, flea and worm treatment, insurance, cost of catteries if you need them when on holiday plus getting them neutered/spayed and jabs.

My cats cost me £10 a month each on a pet plan which includes all flea and worm treatment as well as the yearly booster and one vet consultation a year. The insurance per cat is about £7 a month but thats a very basic insurance and doesn't give life long cover. Food I reckon probably costs £15 a month at least, although that is for two of them.

That said I wouldn't be without them and they are very much part of our family Smile boy cat is snuggled in between me and dd as I write this!

WreckTangled · 31/03/2016 19:34

Thanks girlie. We did have pil's cat for a year or so when they moved to NZ (before she died!) so know a little bit. It's a shame rescue centres won't allow you to adopt a cat if you have a child under five so we will be buying one. Not for a little while though.

CamdenTownie · 31/03/2016 19:40

Hi everyone,

I've been part of the frugal threads before - but I find it so difficult to keep up when I'm at work during term time.

I'm back because I've spent far too much already of Aprils pay, dh and I were both paid last Thursday, we went away for a long weekend on Good Friday (£££) I must confess that I've purchased the following for myself within the last week:

Eyeshadow palette
2 X chubby stick type lip colour
Concealer
Blusher
A pair of driving style shoes
1 tshirt
1 nude colour summer top
A huge cushion
2 X enhancer jeans from Next
A pair of chinos

I'm so embarrassed when it's all written down, today I've spent over £100, I really didn't need to spend a penny of it either.

I'm such an impulse buyer, it helps that I don't often get the chance to go shopping, I buy most stuff online and often end up returning it. I also only buy groceries online during term time, but in the holidays I go out to Aldi or Lidl.

So I'm pledging to spend nothing at all on anything non essential, basically anything other than food or petrol.

We do make sure to pay off a big chunk of our credit card and put some money into savings on the day we get paid, often by week two we are living on a shoestring, although it's not too bad as the freezer is usually stacked up and it gives us a challenge.

I just need to curb the spending - help!

SpaceKablooie · 31/03/2016 20:15

Hi Camden Smile. I hope this thread helps you - I keep up with it every day (but I don't post very often), and I've found that it has helped to change my
mindset from a spendy to a frugal one.

lilacclery · 31/03/2016 20:17

Camden I remember you from previous threads. Is there anything you could return from your purchases? Or has today counting things up been the kick up the a*s you needed perhaps?

I spent €15 on two skirts today I'm going to try them on tonight with some stuff I bought on Facebook if I don't love them they're both going back tomorrow.

Why don't you shop in Lidl or aldi during term time?

WreckTangled · 31/03/2016 20:32
