Right just been skim reading Cag I think i have figured out who you are Wink glad you had a good trip.

Dd had a good night, nice to be able to sleep in our own beds and not having nurses coming in doing iv antibiotics at midnight and 6am! That said I still had to set the alarm to wake up at 1am to give dd the last of her tamiflu, I have to take a course of that now as well as a precaution. She had influenza B but obviously with a rare complication, all of you with kids please think about getting them vaccinated!!

Am catching up today, my good friend stepped in and has been sorting the cats out for me even doing boy cats insulin!! They seem fine, not particularly bothered we are back tbh Grin

Whilst in hospital spends were quite low for me, my parents I suspect spent a fortune driving up every day and bringing in supplies and food. I spent £36 this morning on Amazon buying a heap of new dvds to watch over the Easter hols as well as a new table cloth. The house buying thing seems to be progressing very slowly, may email the solicitor later as nothing seems to be happening at the min!!

Dd has been allowed out of bed and is playing quietly, first time in over a week she has been able to sit and play Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 24/03/2016 12:54

Gah my stupid lap top why does it keep going that Angry

EvaDelectorskaya · 24/03/2016 12:55

Em - that's a crazy difference, you must be very pleased.
I'm having an unusually quiet day at work so I just did an Amazon order, €17 on a new grill pan, €22 on books for DS's upcoming birthday and €5 on a book for DF. I'm hoping the new grill pan will make our grill more usable, as it currently fills the while oven with smoke, hoping it's the manky old pan that's the problem rather than the oven itself.

Cagliostro · 24/03/2016 14:12

The wands really are beautiful Em - great selection too.

Cagliostro · 24/03/2016 14:12

And hello, Girlie [cryptic] :o

Pointlessfan · 24/03/2016 14:23

My H&M order arrived and I like it all but wish that I'd also ordered something warmer. Where is the spring weather??

needastrongone · 24/03/2016 16:24

Big difference there Em, same thing happened to us many moons ago, I forget whether it was DH or myself but similar circumstances.

Good to know that your DD is slowly recovering Girlie, have work been accommodating?

Thanks, I think it was a good deal, I enquired ages ago and it was well over £850, the girl says it changes a lot?!. Never ever flown business before. DH does for work and he really wanted us to experience it, I am sure we could have lived without it, but it will be nice, given we are going long haul. Smile

Lamb and apricot tagine for tea, as DD isn't here, she doesn't like lamb.

No cash spends, but need milk so about £1.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/03/2016 18:18

need The whole point of frugality is having the money for nice things, rather than frittering and not having the money.

Dh does our watch batteries. It's not that difficult, he even re-positions the water proofing gaskets. He has watches that charge from the motion of his arm when he moves. It's much more boring than it seems.

£1 on lipstick.
60p on two months contact lense fluids.
£1.49 coconut oil.
£1.60 in morrisons but have claimed 40p back off shopitize.
£43 in Aldi but £3 was non food.

eve do you have grease on the grill element? Neat sugar soap (£1 in wilkos) cuts right through that.

northender · 24/03/2016 18:56

Nothing frugal to report right now, afraid I just need to offload in this semi anonymous safe space. Have had a horrendous day today. Some of you may remember dd has had quite severe issues at school (social & emotional). They got much better but then have flared up this week so it has been v stressful. I went out with my mum for the morning & then just as we were finishing our lunch, her senco rang with news of more problems this morning. I felt tearful but managed to keep myself together. Then, an hour later I got a call from ds' school to say a girl in his year (y9) had accused him of inappropriate touching and using foul & abusive language towards her. Again I managed to hold things together but felt like my world was falling apart. Ds is a good natured, popular boy and this couldn't be more out of character or unexpected (I know I'm biased). Anyway, to cut a long story short, he has been cleared, but He is really shaken up. He was in a room on his own while teachers investigated and just imagined every sort of awfulness (being expelled, police). I have some issues about how it was dealt with, definitely guilty til proved innocent, but am mainly just trying to support ds. I feel like an emotional wreck and am totally exhausted, who'd be a parent??

Sorry for the long post Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/03/2016 19:22

Oh lord, such a shock for him. Poor kid.

They need better procedures.

Ipsos · 24/03/2016 19:22

Hello!
Nothing to report now financially as we've been stuck in the house, but ds is recovering from the flu and it's the end of term now so soon we'll be able to leave. Climbing walls today with cabin fever. I texted several friends and they say they've had the flu even worse than us. One who has three kids is really fed up as she and all the kids have it at the same time. Yikes! One other said they'd all had a fever of 106 for 5 days. That's got to be no fun at all. Roll on summer.

I hope you're all okay. I'm nowhere with keeping up with the thread but getting parenting brownie points for talk talk talking to ds in RL. He got all sorts of excellents in his report card from school. No wonder he's knackered.

needastrongone · 24/03/2016 19:28

Well, it seems pretty boring fluffy to be fair..

Oh North, your poor poor son. What a dreadful and horrendous experience. I can't even think of what I might think is DS were to be accused. Oh North, your poor family. Flowers

Girlie So sorry to hear about your dd. The flu is just awful this year. Your dd sounds as though she's really been on the sharp end there. I'm glad to hear she's on the mend. Take care there. You're doing a brilliant job.

babsmam · 24/03/2016 20:06

Need I would have upgraded too. Business class is awesome and you might never want to go back. (Work paid for mine)

North poor family. Ds should at least have had an adult with him not left on his own. Out of order.

Family run business over chains anyway. That's a stupid difference em

Pleased it was good can, it's on our list a bit further up now.

Pleased dd is getting better girlie and the Ipsos family.

Really stressed this week. I'm not sure if I've done the right thing with this change of hours and promo. I'm praying once I get the shite sorted and on an even keel it will be ok but I'm not good at the minute.

northender · 24/03/2016 20:16

Thanks for your support, starting to feel calmer now (dh is home) & ds is okay for now. We're going to take up some of the issues around how it was handled with the school next week.

Will catch up properly tomorrow

SpaceKablooie · 24/03/2016 20:29

Just checking back in because this thread had fallen off my Threads I'm on list Smile. I've only scanned some of the recent posts though - Girlie, I'm so glad your DD is okay.

I'm frugaleering away - taking lunch to work, and batch cooking etc. I hope everyone has a good Easter w/e.

CremeEggThief · 24/03/2016 20:55

North, really sorry to hear that. I bet you have never been as glad of the holidays as you are this time aroundBrewChocolate.

Girlie, great news about your DD. Once they're able to play, they're on the road to recovery. Have a good Easter holiday, snuggling, watching all your dvds and of course, eating lots of Chocolate.

Em, that's a shocking difference!Shock Just shows how much it's worth getting a 2nd opinion/price.

I had a lovely, lovely time on my spa afternoon and am in an incredibly good mood. It really isn't often that my mood is so upbeat. We couldn't get any treatments today, as they were all booked, but even that didn't matter, as it meant the only spend was on lunch. £7.75 for a panini and coffee. AND my sister's passports turned up after all, so they're coming to London.Grin

needastrongone · 24/03/2016 20:59

Glad you had a super day Creme, and good news about your sister's passports.

Cagliostro · 24/03/2016 22:13

Wow North that is awful your poor DS :( and sorry that DD has been struggling also.

Today:
£10.83 various food/drink when out. No willpower today! Blush
£72.75 Tesco - DH went to get new shoes and trousers for work, and Easter eggs etc as well as a little top up shop and some reduced meat/fish

I used my credit card for the first time in several months. Purely because I got a letter which I promptly lost saying they'd not send a new one, it runs out at the end of this month. I took note of the spend and transferred the same to it immediately. It got me wondering though - what's the best way of using a credit card to improve credit rating? Use a little and pay off instantly, pay in advance, pay only when you get the bill... I'm clueless.

Found out DH is paid very much in arrears so that's a bit awkward - won't get paid until mid May Shock luckily he's got a decent final pay packet from his old job with all the extra hours etc, but... eek.

On a more positive note I met one of my new pupils today, starts next week and she's really excited :)

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 24/03/2016 22:19

Hi all. Wow, so much going on...

girlie your poor dd, I sm so glad she is up and playing. I am ashamed to say I actually forgot to get the flu jabs for ds and dd2. I got a right bollocking from dd2's asthma nurse, especually given she has a viral trigger. I absolutely promise I will never forget again.

north seems school dealt poorly with that. I hope you are feeling lesss wobbly now, have a super easter holiday with your dc's, and I guess talk to school about how they handle things? I'm sure he shouldn't gave been left alone to panic.

em just typical. Dp runs a small independent shop, and this is the sort of thing we do. He turned a service round in a day for a customer doing an event tomorrow, all the other, bigger, crappy chain shops had said several weeks wait. Our shop may be unorthadox (read messy with lots of kids playing in it), but our customers always come back (even the nightmare ones)!

Had my speed awareness course today. 4 hours. Team working. Gah, my idea of hell. Shouldn't gave been speeding though. My steps are way down today, so will have to go round the block (have a garmin watch which I charge via usb). Then blew £17 in lidl and £9 in aldi on small easter chocs for hunting on sunday. Oh, and £11.99 in amazon for a washing line for mum, she has been struggling with a broken one for ages, so while we were chatting I ordered her one, and it will be delivered to her tomorrow!

Take it easy everyone Chocolate (flat eggs) Flowers (spring daffs)

Ipsos · 24/03/2016 22:35

Knitting I had a speed awareness course last year, after thinking I was entering a dual carriageway when actually on a four lane normal road and so doing 35mph in a 30 limit. I actually found the course really helpful, and have been sailing along at 25mph in 30 limits ever since. I feel a lot less stressed when driving now. I hope the course also helped you.
