Workman starts in our house today, we're in chaos as we're camping out in the spare room but all our clothes etc are still in our room. He's going to be here about 10 days, wish I could clear off to a hotel until it's done!
Should be worth it though, he's hopefully going to sort out the condensation in our bedroom, redo all the walls in the hall, stairs and landing with new lining paper and paint it all. Just have this awful feeling that the staircase will need plastering from where the old bath leaked, not sure I can stand the stress or ££ if that happens.

babsmam · 07/03/2016 07:06

Going to buy a hedge today hopefully so that willbe££ . will get £35 Back from the allotments today.

Ememem84 · 07/03/2016 07:51

Spends today £20 or so on flowers for dm for Mother's Day.

Have woken up this morning feeling a bit dizzy and lightheaded. And like a cold is a coming.

Off to work though as need to speak to my boss who gets back from his trip today. I might just go in for the morning though.

Dh has put beef stew in the slow cooker. So dinner is on the go. Smile

Ememem84 · 07/03/2016 07:56

pointless good luck with the redecoration works! We had our kitchen and living room done a couple of years ago. Everything ripped out and new stuff put back in. We had our spare room full of stuff and we're living out of our bedroom. It was not fun. I hate camping in my own home. I contemplated a hotel at one point...

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/03/2016 09:14

need One of dhs relatives was mean about me years ago, somehow dh thought inviting them round and getting me to cook would sort it mollify his dm. Suffice to say it didn't happen and he's never done it again.

Pointless Focus on the end result. It's horrid living on a building site though.

We are definitely decamping to the local premier inn overnight when we tile the downstairs. The cats going to a cattery.

Yesterday was £1.50 on cooked turkey, I was going to claim £1.30 back off quidco and they pulled the offer early. Frugal fail

Frugal wins.
Dh paid for mils orchid so for £20 between us she got thorntons, big orchid in fancy pot, card in a box & nice wrapping paper.

Tcb paid me £7 CB so I took it as Tesco points.

Mobile xpressions paid me £10 Amazon voucher.

Signed up for a house of Fraser recognition loyalty card, it used to be credit card based but now it's a plain loyalty card too.

fuzzpig · 07/03/2016 09:20

Ooops organisational fail here this morning. Totally forgot DD had an activity until just now. It's free, but given that we'd now need a taxi to get there in time, it'd end up costing nearly a tenner to get there and back. So I've not mentioned it to the DCs. Bad fuzz Blush

One more week to get through this rather stressful time. ONE! I know that there'll be other stresses after of course, but to hell with it, I just want this one last week to be OVER. I'm trying not to feel bad about taking short cuts to get through the next 5 days. Trying.

Colliefeatures · 07/03/2016 09:23

NSD today, tomorrow, Thursday and friday! It's so sunny here!

pointless sounds stressful! It'll be totally worth it though.

Em don't get poorly! Nooooo. Brew

I forgot to buy my new nail polish yesterday. Will get it on Wednesday when I'm in town. Grin

babsmam · 07/03/2016 10:56

Don't feel bad fuzz. Do what it takes to get you through. I week is not much.
£24 on trousers, £11 boots,£5 sainsburys all on points or vouchers a further £20 in sainsburys and £1.08 at the baker.

sportinguista · 07/03/2016 10:57

fuzzpig · 07/03/2016 11:20

You ok there Sporting? Confused

fuzzpig · 07/03/2016 11:22

And thank you Babs :) we are staying at mum's Thurs-Sat anyway (not DH as he's got his last couple of days at work) so that takes the pressure off a bit.

lilacclery · 07/03/2016 11:31

Em join the club just come home from work with a wicked headcold, both Dc sick too tmi but ds movements are mucousy. Booked 3 of us until doctor later, going to look for a three day cert

WreckTangled · 07/03/2016 12:30

£5 John Lewis cafe
£12 sainsburys on goggles for ds (will be starting swimming lessons soon), bread and a card for my nan. Also swapped the knickers.

Ememem84 · 07/03/2016 12:49

Still at work. Want to save days off until I actually need them. Still feeling lightheaded. And like the cold is on its way. But nothing yet. Done a boots shop -tissues paracetamols ibruprofens echinacea and lozenges. Just in case.

AdoraBell · 07/03/2016 12:51

£6-ish in Tesco, small sunblock, packet of Nairn's oat biscuits and some corn cous cous to try.

£4 on coffee and snack. Still need to get tights and a blouse for DD. Am in town and will have a late lunch when I get home. I. Am. Not. Buying. Lunch. Out.

fuzz it is forbidden to feel bad about doing what you need to get through.

pointless it will be worth it but yes, it is very stressful having work done on the home. We are having the kitchen done and I am almost tempted to cancel it and leave the 15-ish year old cabinets and appliances in place. Almost. I'm putting my faith it in being better than our experiences in Chile.

Hope everyone who is feeling under the weather is better very soon.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/03/2016 13:00

Oh no no more poorly frugaleers!!

Have been into town this morning, dd is off on a random inset day so ended up spending more!

Spends
£1.20 parking
£5.50 in Subway, dd was hungry but I resisted!
£13 in Wilkos, got loads for that mostly toiletries.
£3.99 in WHS on a small gift for dds friends bday (have already got her a gift, dd convinced me her friend needed something else Hmm)
99p on a card in card warehouse.

Got to take boy cat to the vets later, am a bit worried as he has been drinking a lot more than usual, really hoping he isn't diabetic!

Colliefeatures · 07/03/2016 13:04

sporting hey sporting! Grin hope all is well!

I've just been contacted by a company nearby who were wondering if I'd like to work for them for £20k per year. They found me on LinkedIn and one of my old colleagues recommended me as he works there now. I was a little interested until they said the hours are 8am - 6pm non negotiable. Hmm so I said "thanks but no thanks!".

I'd never see DS with those hours. The job isn't really my cup of tea either so it's no loss.

fuzzpig · 07/03/2016 13:07

Adora is the corn cous cous gluten free? Please could you report back if so :)

AdoraBell · 07/03/2016 13:12

It is fuzz and yes, I'll let you know how it turns out.

fuzzpig · 07/03/2016 13:18

Thanks :) not that DH actually likes cous cous anyway Hmm although we are both being better at eating food we don't individually like (mushrooms for me, cauliflower for DH!) so maybe...

Collie sounds like a wise move. Assuming you'd need paid childcare, you perhaps wouldn't see much of the 20k?

Been a good day so far. Glad the weather is holding out so far - DCs have been out on the rollerblades/scooters so plenty of exercise and fresh air as well as home ed and a very little housework.

WreckTangled · 07/03/2016 13:19

Em maybe you need to POAS....

Ah well collie it's nice to know you've been recommended!

I've folded a load of washing and hung out another and have also hoovered. Think that's enough for one day Grin

fuzzpig · 07/03/2016 13:31

More than I've done Wreck :o

Lovetoknit · 07/03/2016 13:44

Flowers for all the poorly frugaleers
Haven't had time to catch up properly but finally back again after very busy and rather spendy week and this one is not going to be much better.
Dd has her performance with Duchy ballet on Friday and Saturday at Hall for Cornwall. On one hand I am really proud of her but on the other I am really happy it's nearly over. Plus after 3 late nights (she has rehearsal on Thursday till 10pm) she will be grumpy and stroppy 11y going on 16 is no fun at all.
NSD today
Lovely sunny day down here but still rather cold so I just had a mug of tomato soup for lunch
Pork chops or sausages with crispy potatoes and veg for tea tonight -my ds and little dd like roast pork but don't like chops Confused

babsmam · 07/03/2016 13:54

Well got a quote coming for the hedge. Checked out a wholesale butcher nearby and price wise same as my local butcher more or less. Got a few bits to try and see. Sausages are not worth the drive so far.
Looking at buying suitcases. Think I'm going for 2 medium. (4of us, 10 days) plus hand luggage.

CremeEggThief · 07/03/2016 14:29

Hang in there, Fuzz .

Lovetoknit, best of luck to your DD.

Collie, sounds like the right decision. It must be a great boost to your confidence though, after what happened with the horrid agency.Smile

I'm feeling really flat today and like I just can't be bothered, even though it's a gorgeous, sunny day. Maybe it's a bit of fatigue after all the painting. I've managed to wrap a parcel for eBay, wash and dry a load of laundry, a tiny bit of touching up the paint, tidy up, make breakfast and lunch, wash up, go to the shop/post office and now I'm on the sofa, feeling like I don't want to move for the rest of the day. I don't even want to go to Pilates later on, although I hope I can make myself as I know it'll make me feel better. Anyway, spends today were: £2.80 postage; £2.57 on a pint of milk, biscuits and pens (as DS keeps losing hisAngry); £20 gas; £10 electricity and that's all so far. £35.37.
