Usborne book order arrived today from the bargainous sale a while back. DD is very excited as she realised the ones I left in the box are for her birthday (she said yesterday, as we were reading the Narnia book she got for Christmas, "It's not Christmas or birthday if you don't get books!" :o) - the others were a piano book (that I can use for teaching), Christmas gift labels (stickers! Got to be easier than tags falling off etc) and a couple of home ed bits including beginner's Latin. DD and I are trying to learn some (I've forgotten virtually everything I learned in yr7 Latin even though I really enjoyed it at the time). So far we've done "quis es? Fuzzpig sum" :o

Girlie I guess they might seem a bit young for your DD, but I've had a quick look through the set of "100 rocks and minerals to spot" cards I got for her, and they look fab. Just thought I'd let you know (sorry :o)

Well I really need to get off my arse now and tidy up. Thought I'd have the whole evening to but DSD will be phoning in a bit for help with her coursework yes it is due tomorrow :o

And then tonight I really need to get the last bit of the book done to send off. Oops. Blush

My DS13 high functioning ASD. He actually has very good social skills so when he got th dx a lot of people including family were 😒🤔 the truth is that his ADHD was so strong that it almost over rode his ASD. Also we his parents & brother have helped him to mix. But if you know him well you will see the Asd.
Fuzz I hate when people say that (ie my sister & Dh parents😬).

Spent €90 in dentist on mouth guard. I am grinding them & he said X-ray was clear. So fingers crossed I just bruised nerves & that the guard will be all I need. 😉

WreckTangled · 02/03/2016 18:15

Car will be about £50 phew. Can't get it until tomorrow evening though as we have no way of getting it until dh has finished work Angry

Amazon emailed to say they're recalling the charger plug of ds' kindle and I can either have a new one or have £12 credit. I've gone for the credit as the usb lead fits into the iPhone plug anyway.

Ipsos · 02/03/2016 18:19

Very exciting about the books fuzz. Smile I love Usborne books.

babsmam · 02/03/2016 18:21

Blimey you talkers. Sounds like a really helpful and meaningful discussion.
I got that Amazon email and had to order a new charger. We need 2 so they made an exception to their policy and sent me another. Exception my arse.
£18 in the co op as dh has just got in from work since yesterday morning. £2.30 on bought lunch as no wraps (see above re dh)
The nerves on my teeth self healed but it can take a couple of weeks. clencher here
That's not too bad on the car wreck, phew trade still on.
I love pony's with character they are frustrating and funny in equal measure.

babsmam · 02/03/2016 18:22

No snow here but the sky is looking portent.

needastrongone · 02/03/2016 18:26

Ipsos I have an inkling that you might find it harder to leave your DS than he will find it hard to be left. I have faith in him Smile It's one of the hardest bits of parenting, leaving them to be independent and 'find themselves' but also one of the most important and rewarding too I think, providing them with the skills to make their own way in life. Very glad it went went well at school. Your DS sounds like a super little chap. I don't think you need to worry.

I've put some extra stuff on Ebay, bagged up some charity stuff and made carrot and orange soup.

Ipsos · 02/03/2016 18:44

need tbh all his friends are quite glad that I follow him around as otherwise there would be no one to stop them getting thumped either. I will step back a bit though and only intervene when they start throwing punches every 3 minutes I imagine the interval will increase as they mature, but I've noticed that it's often the boys who are full year older that end up in floods of tears at the end of the games. Odd business.

CremeEggThief · 02/03/2016 19:00

Sounds very positive, Ipsos. I hope it's helped to ease your concerns.

Do you think we're finally going to get the snow, Babs?

OP posts:
needastrongone · 02/03/2016 19:04

ipsos, terrible stereo typing from me here, but the boys settle their battles physically, then it's gone and forgotten, the girls squabble and bitch in my experience. Which is why DD hangs around with boys in the main...

You are right, it gets less as they mature.

One of my listings has already got a bid, which means I've under priced, as I listed 10 minutes ago!

babsmam · 02/03/2016 19:07

Not sure crème. Hope not the town grinds to a halt with idiot drivers.
I have no issue with nervous or careful in snow, just the idiots

fuzzpig · 02/03/2016 19:11

I'm hoping not to have snow too. The roads always get blocked up with people who drive and get stuck, and abandon their cars, so even the day after it's melted the bus can't get up our road if they haven't been collected!

I think I've lost my tidying momentum.

Very happy DH is off tomorrow. Got scary meeting at work tomorrow. I think in some ways I'm past caring, I can't give any more emotional space to it (please remind me of this when the tears come, as they probably will again I can possibly blame PMS though Blush)

Ipsos · 02/03/2016 19:13

That's good to know need. Ds certainly seems to do well in the battles, which helps. He's huge and gentle, so just rolls people slowly to the ground and steps over them. :-)

I have a great urge to spend money on something stupid after a stressful week, but we have that garden-fixing guy coming in April so I think I will tell myself that that is the treat to come, and put off unnecessary expense that way.

Thanks Creme, yes it has.

babsmam · 02/03/2016 19:22

Ooo fuzz I think it was fuzz about annual leave. I would check if you will lose it. I think you have a case for them paying it out as you can't be off sick and on annual leave at the same time. If you physically can't take it before the end of the year I think they should roll it over or pay. I would certainly mention it

Ememem84 · 02/03/2016 19:27

Slow cooker spag Bol for tea and a million canapés.

They were annoying but delicious huge ones though. Mini burger with cheese and roast potato stuffed with stuffing and gravy. And the usual dainty salmon blinis etc. So good.

Allgunsblazing · 02/03/2016 19:32

Snow you say, snow?!!! It's been very very windy here, I aired the rooms and one of the windows nearly got ripped off.

I am on my frugaleering path, well and trully. mSE email arrived, not a lot of savings to be made there.
I feel like a proper grown up: I contacted an independent financial advisor/mortgage broker. I have a meeting next week.

I also got an email fromSheffield Mutual (I love them), I have a small investment ISA with them. Anyway, they mentioned Children's tax exempt saving plans (TESP). I had no idea they existed.
But, it's a 10 (or 25) years tax free saving plan, guaranteed final amount on maturity. I chose when DD receives the money and I make small (£5/month) regular deposits.
I won't miss £5 a month, it's tax free and hopefully it'll be a nice little present for a semnificative birthday for her.
Because I am already a member and I 'recommended' her, I get £25, she gets £25 in vouchers. Because I applied online (5 minutes) they're also sending me £25 in vouchers to say thanks. And, best of all, they use such a plain language, I absolutely love them. So there, if you're thinking to save a bit long term, there's an opportunity. (Adults can open a TESP too). And It's is a small, local friendly mutual society (that's why I chose them in the first place).
There, I feel all frugal now :)

Wolfcub · 02/03/2016 19:33

Having a really difficult day today and feeling very blue and emotional. Had some spends for work (about £35) but will be able to claim that back next week

Pointlessfan · 02/03/2016 19:39

That's helpful allguns I've been meaning to open an account for DD for ages. Will you get another £25 for recommending it to us?!

Allgunsblazing · 02/03/2016 19:42

I haven't thought of this, but I suppose I would if you were to give them my name?! I think you get one too, just because you've acted on a recommendation. :)

CremeEggThief · 02/03/2016 19:47

Good, good, Ipsos. Yes, do think of the garden as your treat. It's not long until then, and you got great satisfaction from your hallway.Smile

Good luck tomorrow, Fuzz. Feel free to debrief or offload here.

I hope not too, Babs. I want spring time now!St Davids

I just swapped my shop from Tesco to Sainsbury's and saved £6! And delivery was only a £1 for the same slot as Tescos. So cancelled Tescos.

Phew!

Never expected Sainsbury's to be cheaper!

needastrongone · 02/03/2016 20:05

See, you've said something else that makes me smile about your DS Smile Like the idea of him being huge and gentle.

You ok wolf? Something significant, or something a good sleep and a new day will help?

Good frugal move allguns

Tea was nice, carrot and orange soup, just a bag of carrots, couple of oranges, garlic, stock, seasoning and some crusty bread. So frugal.

Tomorrow will be an Aldi gammon in the SC or frittata and sweet potato wedges.

Wolfcub · 02/03/2016 20:40

Need thank.you for asking. I'm having a black dog day (long history of mh probs but I manage it well generally) and had a situation to deal with at work that is challenging for me which hasn't helped on top of a reading some really.horrible work stuff yesterday (the sort of bottom of humanity and failure of organizations kind of stuff). I will be ok and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day

blueteapot · 02/03/2016 20:41

Collie I am amazed sains is normally much more expensive for us!

Flowers ipsos and for anyone struggling with ASD issues, sometimes I wonder about DS but hes very young yet

£39 in tescos in the end ( £14 was mothers day stuff). They seemed to have lots of cleaning stuff reduced to clear (method stuff for 60p etc) so had a mini stock up. £4.99 in card factory on 6 cards needed over the next few weeks.

Kids had a good time at the party. £2 on a coffee while I was there.

So tired tonight. Long drive tomorrow for work and I just cant be arsed :( Roll on the weekend!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/03/2016 20:49

Hi all just signing in quickly, been an absolutely manic day here with work, trying to sort a solicitor/house stuff and everything else including getting dd to her swimming lesson on time!!

Does anyone know anything about stamp duty? I'm not clear on if I have to pay it or not Confused also I am Shock at solicitors fees! I knew they would be pricey but OMG!!

Lsd £2.50 to dd for a school dinner, no other spends I can think of.

Not read through all the other posts yet so will do now.....
