Also, remember that the cost of life assurance increases the older we get. Something to think about if you are considering insuring yourselves. Practically, DH is insured for a far higher figure than myself, given he has a far greater earning capacity, and also the DC don't need childcare etc.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/01/2016 20:11

Blue Good luck. You'll ache tomorrow from the hard chairs. All medical knowledge vanishes when it's your family in trouble doesn't it?.

Need The cost of skiing keeps the proles out. Most of dhs better off relatives ski. We don't Wink Grin

I think suicide laws in this country will change. Nursing homes could evolve into providing legal euthanasia. We know someone who's looked into dignitas & is intent on going there rather than into care.

NSD.

need I think you're right. I'm having to think hard this week what to say on the thread as things have been quiet. I think it's still good to say it though. Good news is still news worth reporting, I think.

I did buy one thing this week but it didn't work so I've sent it back. These days I get a little kick out of returning something and switching a field of my spreadsheet back to zero. Smile Odd that.

I just found this pdf from Tesco listing all their gluten free products.
realfood.tesco.com/media/docs/Gluten-Free-List-June-2015-c1530e63-3548-4a2c-bda7-fbf769a740f1-0.pdf

Gosh! How useful!

Ememem84 · 17/01/2016 20:58

Yesterday was 20 years since dads bff died. I remember it. But can't quite believe it's been 20 years. His daughters are friends of mine. Not sure they can believe it's been 20 years either. Seems like yesterday we were all just kids.

Nsd today. Made £18 so far from eBay sales. Paid straight on credit card to reduce balance.

Girlfriend36 · 17/01/2016 21:24

Went to Trago with dh while dss stayed at home with the younger ones;£17 at butchers, £10 at greengrocer, £2 at bakery for rolls and £46 directly at Trago but we did stick to the list Smile
All the clothes are now in the new wardrobes, we put my old one in the room in the loft for dss and the other one in ds room so he is now using the one under his cabin bed as a storage for his trains

AdoraBell · 17/01/2016 22:51

Hope your DH is better very soon blue

GF orange cake looks good, must try that.

Spent more money today Hmm walked into town with DDs, coffee and cake £8.20
Supermarket £31, fish, chicken and veg
McDonalds for DDs £6-ish.

Money for packed lunches £30

Tomorrow I need to post a letter by recorded/registered, can't remember which ATM, not sure how that will be. Will try to cath up properly tomorrow.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2016 06:24

Lsd today. We need coffee and I'm going to do some baking so need eggs and butter etc.

babsmam · 18/01/2016 06:50

Mixed day today. Fitness class fees and an alarm clock and square cake runs are required. No doubt other items will jump out at me in sainsburys and nestle in my trolly to say hi to the cashier.

Pointlessfan · 18/01/2016 06:53

I've been thinking about making a will too, really should now we have DD. Is it very expensive to do? I know you can do it for free online but how do you know if it's a reputable website? How would anyone else know about it if I died? It's all very morbid, and confusing, but important.

babsmam · 18/01/2016 07:03

Pointless are you a union member, they sometimes have free services. I know there used to be a mumsnetter who was highly thought of who does wills but I've never used her. November is will aid month so you can get one for a discount as the fee goes to charity. I think normal price you are looking at £120 ish pound for a straight forward one but it's a while since I looked into it. Bet mse has a thread on it

Silvertap · 18/01/2016 07:08

We did wills about a year ago and it cost £250 each. We have a partnership and a company between us though so they were slightly more complicated. You appoint executors and I guess they're told by someone official but do you know I've no idea how that happens.

Frugal win for me (but not dh) this weekend. We were on a friends birthday trip to London and I had it all budgeted to come out of the joint acc but dh kept putting it on his card! Good job too as I hadn't quite planned for the amount of alcohol consumed!

One thing I noticed though. On here I notice that I have a lot of nsd. Having been to London for the day I think I can see why. Living on a farm if I avoid Amazon I just don't spend money because there's nothing to spend it on. In town there was
Temptation everywhere - the beautiful clothes, the coffees on every corner and the fact you have to spend on transport. It's just so much harder with all that temptation!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2016 07:09

If I died all dh would get is my debt Grin I might give him my car too.

Ememem84 · 18/01/2016 07:36

We don't have wills. First thing we'll do if baby comes along though.

My parents made me executor of their wills. They told me and gave me a list of things to do, people to contact etc. So I know where the will is and know things go to mum/dad (whichever one is left) then to me and my sister equally and are under strict legal instruction to sell the house and split proceeds equally. If one of us wants to buy it they have to give the other half its value.

Horrible morbid stuff. But at least we know.

Ipsos · 18/01/2016 07:42

pointless ours was about £150 I think. We went to a local lawyer in the end as it seemed more direct and the price was the same as all the weird online things. We did it to make sure that ds would be posted directly to a close relative if need be, and to make sure he would get our money asap instead of having to go through probate. Oddly the close relative has been visiting a lot ever since, and he never really did before. I think he started to feel almost parental responsibility for ds and asks me a lot of questions about ds's schooling and things now. It's kind of nice for both of them I think.

Ipsos · 18/01/2016 09:26

It's cold here again. I think I may have an another epic cooking-Monday to try to heat the house. At the very least, I'm planning to relocate to the kitchen where it's warm.

NK5BM3 · 18/01/2016 09:34

we've got wills - it was quite matter of fact and straightforward-ish (without thinking too much about my 'fortune' in the other country!!)... I think one needs to do them.

in other news - I didn't get the job offer. Apparently I made a very favourable impression on them but they didn't think it was fair of them to impose what would be a very difficult group onto me (!?!?). oh well. in hindsight, it might be a blessing in disguise - I might have ended up being like Michael Gove - come in to the Education Ministry, change a whole load of things, make people v cross, and then leave (the new person hasn't made any reversals!!). so, I don't have the wish to be a Michael Gove....that's fine. :)

lilacclery · 18/01/2016 09:57

Wills are a hot topic amongst my family at the moment too
We did ours pre ds but had dd and made provisions for subsequent children, think dh needs to change his in relation to who he's leaving a property he has too but other than that it's ok

nk sorry to hear that about the job, will you continue to jobhunt in Oz?

colliepirate · 18/01/2016 09:57

Frugal win. Fixed one of DSs electronic toys. Was considering buying a replacement after payday but they're about £20!

Today I'm on crutches. So definitely a NSD. I have no idea how I'm going to cope with a lively toddler. But needs must. Grin

colliepirate · 18/01/2016 09:59

NZ sorry about the job. Keep job hunting though! Whether in the UK or abroad. Brew

colliepirate · 18/01/2016 09:59

NK not NZ! There's me with New Zealand on the brain haha!

lilacclery · 18/01/2016 10:00

This morning I'm both up and down money I redeemed Irish Opinions voucher points for a €10 boots voucher - boosted €52.50 of Tesco Clubcard points to €210 of Stena Line vouchers for our trip in June.
However last night I noticed my theatre tickets had 17th Jan on them instead of 31st jan in my living social app. They seem to be non refundable so I've rebooked and will phone living social to see what can be done about this, there is no way I would've booked for 17th seeing as I'm not in London until jan 29th! Confused

Whataboutnodetox · 18/01/2016 10:21

Collie why are you on crutches? Did I miss something? Flowers

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2016 10:28

That sucks nk but I'm sure something else will come along even better.

What happened collie?! Or are you having a bad day?

I spilt a whole tub of butter milk in the refrigerator at tesco Blush I apologised lots
