Big walk here, visit to d dad and then bedding changed and washed. eBay things sorted. Now nice cup of tea and a sit down. Smile

Ipsos · 17/01/2016 15:10

Sorry to hear that blue. Hope he's on the mend.

We're having a decent day. Dh and ds are playing chess and it's nice weather outside.

574ejones · 17/01/2016 15:11

Wow, so sorry so many of you are having a rough time at the moment.

Fri: £55 weekly food shop £37 petrol
Sat: NSD
Sun: £1.95 in Costa

Pointlessfan · 17/01/2016 15:25

Sorry to hear that blue, hope he's ok.

supermariossister · 17/01/2016 15:33

Hope dh is okay. Being in hospital sucks and is highly expensive. Nsd today, feeling a bit better again and have changed things round in the house so I can get to the tumble dryer, tired out now but an improvement from last week (y)

CremeEggThief · 17/01/2016 15:47

Gosh, Blue, I hope your DH will be okay.

Supermario, I'm glad you're feeling better now. Take it as easy as you can still.

NSD.

Unescorted · 17/01/2016 15:55

blue hope he is OK. It sucks being hospital.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2016 16:14

Oh no blue. Hope everything's ok

babsmam · 17/01/2016 16:47

Hope dh is OK blue.
Chaos here DS has two friends here.
£8.40 swimming, £16 odd on cafe lunch
£24 on bogof vouchers for afternoon tea for friends birthday, got a friend getting another to cover the group

colliepirate · 17/01/2016 16:56

blue really hoping your DH is OK. Thinking of you.
spotty best Snowman ever! That's a fab new years resolution too.
what such a cute photo.

I had to spend £2 on a microwavable wheat bag. Unfortunately it's scented lavender but it'll help so much with aches. My last one lasted a year before it smelt too horrid to use.

babsmam · 17/01/2016 17:57

Love the snowman spotty and the photo what.
Peace reigns again. Dc home and friends gone. Love them all but love the quiet too

AuditAngel · 17/01/2016 18:05

Went out for lunch. Mum wanted to go out to celebrate a year since my dad died, the anniversary is tomorrow, but we have work/school/dancing. Mum /DH paid between them, but DH asked for £5 (small fraction of the bill), plus £1.50 bus fare there (DD's and I went on the bus, mum drove DH and DS, then DH, DS and DD1 came back by bus while DD2 and I cane in the car.

needastrongone · 17/01/2016 18:23

Evening.

Poor you and DH Blue, hoping he is ok.

How old are you pointless, if you don't mind me asking? Is there a real health risk to delay pregnancy, or just that you would rather not be much older?!

Really spendy day here. I think the resale value on Ebay will be good, but spendy anyway.

£95 ski jacket for DD
£90 in Trespass for salopettes, 2 x base layer tops and 1 x base leggings for DD.
£25 on 2 x thick ski gloves, one for the yard and one to ski.
£7 MacDonalds.
£10 training for DD

Have decided skiing is a more exclusive sport than riding. I was loath to buy stuff on Ebay due to sizing.

Had been having a fabulously frugal month until this stage, but this will use a lot of the excess. At least it won't come out of savings.

Ipsos · 17/01/2016 18:57

Does anybody else think that there seem to be a lot of people who have died this month? An elderly friend of mine from church died today and one of my school friends lost two relatives in the first week of January, then there were Alan Rickman and the nice singer guy, whose name I forget, and everybody on here seems to be losing people. It's not even been a very cold winter. I'm finding it a bit perplexing.

Ipsos · 17/01/2016 18:58

Apart from that we're having a perfectly nice time here and not spending very much money at all, so I'm not complaining btw. I just thought it was a bit odd. We had nice weather today and a quiet day at home, church was nice this morning and sunday school went well. So far, so good.

babsmam · 17/01/2016 19:13

I agree ipsos we were just saying the same at work the other day.

Pointlessfan · 17/01/2016 19:14

Almost NSD, had to buy butter to do some baking. It was £1.55 in the local shop - seems expensive.
After my kitchen audit I have a really short shopping list, mostly just fruit, yoghurt and potatoes plus cat food/litter. Hoping it will be a cheap shop.

Girlfriend36 · 17/01/2016 19:22

Hi all, just checking in.

Hope your dh is o.kay blue

I have worked all wend and am knackered now, seem to have come out with dds cold as well ugh. Not spent much though so thats good! £4 ystd on lunch, £1 today on some milk and reduced t.bags, some parking costs incurred for work but will claim them back.

Have been fed all wend by my lovely mum so thats also a bonus!!

at those costs Needa i think that explains why I have never been skiing!!

JeepersMcoy · 17/01/2016 19:28

I was thinking I had just hit that age ipsos when people you know or associate with your youth start to die of old age or ailments, so you notice it more.

I can't decide if your theory is more or less depressing than mine.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2016 19:34

It's been really quiet for deaths at work, we only commented the other day how few there had been over Christmas.

Ipsos · 17/01/2016 19:34

Jeepers Yes I think I've hit that age too. A lot of my friends now have chronic health conditions that they have to manage and that have proper names. We're all 40-ish now.

I think that turning 60 and then 70 must be a whole other thing, once people start popping off. I imagine it really pays to be at least mildly religious at that point.

Ipsos · 17/01/2016 19:36

That's interesting Spotty. I wondered what your take on this would be. Nice to know that there have been fewer there.

I'm only really noticing because two other friends at school have also had very close death in the family and so I am hearing about wills and funerals and family friction and I'm really learning a lot about what to do in advance to avoid trouble. I was talking to DM about it which was weird, but I think a good idea.

needastrongone · 17/01/2016 19:47

ipsos, I don't think we always appreciate when life is ticking along steadily and happily with no drama do we? Good that you seem to be.

My parents (divorced) have full and substantive instructions about what they wish in death. What money is there, and how it is to be divided etc. I am aware we need to do something similar, especially re the business. But in general, as we are asset rich and need to protect the DC.

Hope you feel ok soon girlie Have you a day off soon?

JeepersMcoy · 17/01/2016 20:05

We've also been thinking about wills and also the more mundane things. I manage all the financial stuff so was explaining to dh what money he would get and what to do with it (pay off the mortgage) should something happen to me. Also where to find the bank logons and what bills to prioritise should he be short of cash.

I also want to put aside some cash to buy our plots. My mum is buried at the most amazing woodland burial site and we have both decided that is where we want to go.

Gosh! This sounds morbid doesn't it? My mum was only 58 when she died, so it really made us both think.

colliepirate · 17/01/2016 20:05

Ipsos DH and I were saying the same last week about January and deaths. It's horrid.

I keep telling myself. Must. Cheer. Up!

Why am I drooling over clothes online? Im even adding items to my virtual wishlist. Bad Collie!
