Just made cauliflower cheese with some bacon and cavolo nero for dh who had it for lunch and there is enough for his dinner too, the rest of us are having homemade burgers, buns and wedges

TU 25% off is on Tuesday. I hope I get my new Nectar Card by then. They are SO slow.

needastrongone · 23/10/2015 09:47

I too am at home, catching up on paperwork, cleaning and shopping.

Boden have an Ebay outlet you know, as do Joules. I have bought some lovely stuff there in the past at a fraction of the price of the main shops.

As it's payday, I have booked tickets for the new Star Wars movie for Christmas Eve. This is our annual 'thing' that we do as a family. Kids are dying to see the new movie.

Also booked tickets for DH and myself to see Sean Lock the comedian, which can be DH's Xmas pressie.

Girlfriend36 · 23/10/2015 10:38

Blue Next do some half decent work wear and for basics Primark?

I have never really liked the Boden adult clothes, love the kids stuff but think the adult stuff looks a bit plus who wants to spend loads on clothes for work? Confused

needastrongone · 23/10/2015 10:44

Also remember that Boden etc will sell again on Ebay.

I have a Joules tunic on at the minute, I put it on for 99p, it has a few bids. Someone has emailed to ask for measurements of the item. Not sure I can be arsed measuring 3 different areas for the sake of a few quid when I already have bids or am I being mean? Can understand a bike or, like ipsos something technical like computer related items, but it's a tunic!!

CremeEggThief · 23/10/2015 11:47

I couldn't be either recently, when I sold a suit of DS's and had put the age range and it had a couple of bids, Need.

Ememem84 · 23/10/2015 12:17

I've got a pair on converse on at present. Someone's sent a million messages about them.

Has tried to make offers.

Wants to pay £10. Inc postage for them. My buy it now price is £12.50.

He bid yesterday. And now is no longer the high bidder. funny he's asked 3 times for me to end auction. And he'll buy them. Er no.

Collieputthekettleon · 23/10/2015 12:56

Arghh Em! There are some weird people out there on eBay.

New Nectar card is here and I have £26 on it. That'll go a very long way in the Nectar Boost event.

Also... My water bill came and it looks like my estimations of paying £40 per month was spot on. As my bill was only £1.90. Pretty pleased with that because the water company was adamant that we would use £65+ a month.

Just tried doing ceramic painting. My hands are ridiculously shakey. Grin

Whatabout · 23/10/2015 13:20

Found you! I'm afraid I haven't read the thread.

So got my payslip and work have taken my childcare vouchers from my smp so only paid me £300. Now having to try and get it changed and my anxiety is sky high. I've emailed them as I have a psychological issue with phoning people. Really hoping it's a mistake and they will just put a run through for my £243, but I have a feeling they will be as difficult as possible. Feel so sad and broke.

blueteapot · 23/10/2015 13:51

Oh no what :( Have been messed around by work Re: wages so many times I can understand your frustration. Its annoying that its at a time when wages are dropped right down too :(

Collie gap had a sale on when I was perusing their website last night, some jeans etc down to £10-15 I think thinking back?

Must try putting some stuff on ebay. I just can't imagine anyone wanting any of our junk?? what kind of stuff do people sell bar clothes? (none to sell!).

I am freezing today! Properly cold. Just back from toddlers, made cheese and broccolli pasta for lunch to use up a head of broccolli that was starting to turn and DS (who never eats pasta or rice) ate it up! Must be the cheese sauce. It was all homemade so pleased he likes my cooking enough to eat pasta lol ;) Its that or his tastes are broadening as he becomes a threenager (thank god!). DD will eat anything she can grab lol.

£1 toddlers and £1.63 at the shop for a stamp / pack of 5x freddo chocolate bars for mum to give out slowly to DS. Hopefully otherwise a NSD. MIL will be taking the kids this afternoon to give me a chance to get on with some studying. Speaking of which... I'd better go lol.

annatha · 23/10/2015 14:17

Hope it gets sorted soon what. My work were very vague when organising my maternity leave as I've taken 2 back to back with holiday in between and it was really stressful trying to sort it out. I much prefer email for things like that, you can keep record and ensure that everything is laid out clearly instead of mumbling and getting flustered on the phone like I do

Nsd today, and dh's Xbox has sold on eBay so that coupled with a few more things ending we should be £300 up tonight Smile it's going straight into the Xmas pot but v pleased to make that from things laying around the house.

LaChatte · 23/10/2015 14:49

EEEEEEEEEK! -722€, 5 days to payday.

Hello all, I may have massively fallen off the wagon and need to get things back into order again.

I've had to transfer €1000 from the savings account into the current account to finish the month (even with that we will probably dip back into the red before our salaries come in).

Almost all entirely my own fault, frittering it away and burrying my head in the sand, I have just totted up that I've spent over €800 in the past week, most of it on totally pointless things we really didn't need.

So, please, all of you, feel free to give me a MASSIVE virtual kick up the bum! I'm off to get my Excel document up to date.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2015 15:21

Nsd.

Ememem84 · 23/10/2015 15:34

All the eBay talk here made me venture into the buyers side. And have bought myself a skirt. £6. For monsoon fusion Rupert bear style yellow tartan kilt. Love. Also bidding on a red wool skirt. £0.99 at the moment.

Dh is working today but is taking me out for dinner later. Yippee.

HairsprayQueen · 23/10/2015 16:44

Urgh boiler man been, gonna be about £6k to do what we need because we live in such a stupid house. Didn't think my negotiating skills would wash to try and get it down to the £3k we can afford as so much needs to happen.

I know we are very lucky to be on the housing ladder and lots of people would love to be in our situation but sometimes I wish we could just ring the landlord up to sort everything out or otherwise move on easily if we wanted.

ipsos · 23/10/2015 16:50

I've been up to my eyes in investigating solar panels and loft insulation and external wall insulation, and grants and feed tariffs this week. I've finally found someone who knows what's going on. The feed tariff is the money the government gives people who put electricity into the national grid.

The feed tariff for solar panels goes away at the end of December, and if we're to get it a good level then we'd have to have the panels installed before then and make sure that our house changes up to a D band in energy efficiency as a result. This man I've found was able to check and says that it would just with the addition of the solar panels.

I'm doing this because we need roofing work with scaffolding and I reckoned that I may as well look into both at once. Phew! Complicated.

Pointlessfan · 23/10/2015 17:42

5 pages already!
Spent £15 on a meal with a friend last night and have just spent just under a tenner on an anniversary gift for DH. It's our anniversary tomorrow and my lovely MIL is not only babysitting but treating us to a meal in town. So excited! Going for drinks first and everything!
Going to catch up on the thread now.

ipsos · 23/10/2015 17:57

I know what you mean Hair. We used to rent the house that we now own. Before we bought it we dreamed of having the freedom to just fix things without having to ask the landlord, but then afterwards we discovered all the lead paint and all the difficulty of getting work done with all our possessions in the house and a small child here, and as a consequence, our house hardly seems changed at all since we bought it.

It definitely it is better though. It all just takes time, I think.

Girlfriend36 · 23/10/2015 18:39

Hi all, am so tired Sad IBS has been awful today which is not good at the best of times but today has been really busy and I still have to drive dd to her Grandads house which is 20 odd miles away down very dark scary lanes. I might have a little cry! Being a single parent sucks sometimes Wink

Trying not to think about the fact that I am working all wend either Sad oh well, anyone care to join me in my pity party of one?

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2015 18:41

Oh no girlie! I'll join you. No real reason though, the dc have been awful this afternoon and I've shouted too much Blush my sore throat has turned into a cold and annoying cough. Humph.

ipsos · 23/10/2015 19:01

Girlfriend I'm so sorry to hear you're having a tough time. You are doing a heroic job there. Pat yourself on the back from me.

I know kind of where you are because I've done far too much all week and got too tired to sleep and now I'm stuck in bed with the dodgy inards too. Ooops. I hope you get a chance to rest soon.

Spotty Sorry to hear about the cold and cough. We all had a coldy/cough thing recently which was quite weird. I hope yours goes away soon.

needastrongone · 23/10/2015 19:01

Ahhh, girlie Poor you. Hope you are ok. I am not a single parent, but might as well be half the time, it sucks. DH is still not home and hasn't been home before 9.30pm any night this week, git!

And you too spotty.

Ouch hair at the estimate.

Enjoy the meal pointless

Spag bol for tea. DS at karate which costs a fiver. Other spends were my comedy and Star Wars tickets.

Also spent £59 at Aldi. I bought tons of stuff that I wouldn't normally, lots of snacks etc, but DH and DS are going on their travels next week and I would rather DH not got near a shop! Still, amazed how much stuff I bought for that cost. Sometimes I feel short changed by Aldi but not today.

Wolfcub · 23/10/2015 19:11

Thank you for the new thread

CremeEggThief · 23/10/2015 19:35

Sorry so many are still poorly Sad.
I am going to the cinema with a friend, while we wait to pick up our DC from their school trip to France. I haven't been out at night for aaaages. She has paid for the tickets already, so that will be about £8.50. So far today, I've spent £2 on milk and broccoli and £3.70 on my bus fare. I'll have to add the rest of my spends later.

So looking forward to seeing my DS Smile.

Pointlessfan · 23/10/2015 19:46

Oh no, Girlie! I'll join you too. Had a shocking day at work having to cover for two colleagues who were off and had two big incidents kick off so lost my lunch break and free period sorting it out and phoning all the parents.
DH went for a drink after work, DD was tearful because daddy wasn't here and he just phoned me to say he's on the way home but all the trains are cancelled so he's waiting for the extremely slow bus - he'll be ages and he sounds a bit pissed. Just poured second glass of wine!

ipsos · 23/10/2015 19:50

Gosh it's been a real red letter day for us all hasn't it? Sorry to hear you had it tough too Pointless. I hope things improve there.
